Thank you-I picked up invisible thread for first time and could not even get past winding the bobbin! At least after watching your video, I know the problems I'm having are normal. I'll try it again using your tips :)

Fantastic tips. Thanks so much. Wish I'd seen this before I did a project at university and destroyed really expensive fabric by using the invisible thread wrong.

Is there a trick to finding the "start" end of the thread on a new spool?? I can't find it at all!!

Thanks for the information on the poly thread. I had been using the nylon kind. Do you have tips on how to tie a knot in invisible thread when hand sewing with it. I had an emergency order and ended up taping the ends together so the thread would not go through. THanks again

Thanks for the video. I've always used a size 14 needle in my longarm for monopoly and 18 for all other threads (that is the size Superior prints on the cone). It has worked great until recently. My problem was that I kept getting a long stitch. I would get short perfect stitches for a short time, then one super long one in the top thread, like 2 to 3 inches long. I tried a multiple of things and could not get it to stop doing that. The only thing that helped was to quilt at a snail's pace, which is something I just can't afford to do all the time. It wasn't my machine because as soon as I changed to my regular thread and regular needle, I was fine. It only happened with the monopoly. Do you have any ideas as to why I would get a long stitch? I wondered if I had turned my tension down too much.

I am going to start using my 100% Polyester invisible thread for making seed bead appliques. I chose the invisible thread for obvious reasons. However, I am having a terrible time viewing the thread, of course, lol! Is there a 'trick' to be able to see the thread as I am working with it? Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us all xx
@NationalQuiltersCircle4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Yes, that is definitely one of the bad (and good) things about using invisible thread! Since you don't want to necessarily add color to the thread, because it would defeat the reason for using it- I would recommend using light. Sent up a small desk lamp at an angle to your project so that the 'reflects' off the thread a little. This should help you to see it a little better. Cheers, Ashley

Do you leave the net long or cut it to fit the spool?

Can this thread be used to see clear vinyl?

how do you tie a knot with clear thread when hand sewing I find it best two tack a tattered hole, instead of trying to match thread
@NationalQuiltersCircle5 жыл бұрын
Hi! 1. Here is an article with four different ways to tie a knot when hand sewing. Clear thread can be tricky beause it doesn't take to knotting like regular thread, however if you double whichever technique you use you will have better luck with it staying in place: sewguide.com/sewing-thread-knot/ kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWeVpnuImsuca6c Ashley National Quilters Circle

How can I slow down my bobbin wider for invisible thread? I didn't find anything in my instruction book to address that. I have a Bernina 440 an it winds very fast and I don't get good results on the bobbin using invisible thread. I am working on art quilts and there are many colors on the front that I change the thread colors but I don't want the colors to show on the back so I am using invisible thread.
@NationalQuiltersCircle3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for contacting the National Quilters Circle. I'm afraid that question may be better asked of a Bernina sewing machine specialist. I'm not aware of anything to regulate the bobbin winder portion of a machine. Contact your local dealer and they should be of assistance. Thanks

I just paid $10 for nylon invisible thread and I already don’t like it. It does break easy. I stretched the material just to see if it would hold and nope you hear it breaking. Very disappointed 😔
@NationalQuiltersCircle3 жыл бұрын
So sorry to hear this! Is there any way to return the thread to the vendor?
@loishooper67793 жыл бұрын
If it is nylon invisible thread, it does break and it also turns hard over time. Ask me how I know! You need polyester invisible thread which is much softer and does not harden. And it does not break either. The thread she is using is Superior Monopoly, which comes in clear and smoke colours. More expensive, but you get what you pay for, and the stuff lasts forever. I’ve used it for years in fibre art, and it’s worth every penny.
