This has to be one of the best videos I've watched from any channel on fishing! This is like all the live bait methods I've used for years, air injected crawlers on a bottom bounce or 3 way rig, drop shot, wacky, all combined into a streamlined rig that's relatively weedless! First thing I thought of was walleye when I saw that worm tail wagging perpendicular to the bottom just like the mayfly nymphs or any bottom critters, then Mark says is multi species and pulls up a walleye! I thought that screw lock weight looked odd and familiar with a line tie on it, how the hell is he going to rig this, then I read the comments and you guys spilled the beans. I'm from the north too, maybe that's why I enjoyed this and the producers (sorry forgot his name) fall swim bait video so much because the water is similar and I love walleye and smallies so much. I'm definitely trying this next year on Onieda Lake. Thanks guys!

I've tried shakey head and wacky rigs but not Neko. Would there be a situation where regular shakey head would be better or will Neko rig be the way to go in all the same situations?
@Wired2Fish
@Wired2Fish 7 жыл бұрын
A shaky head may require less rigging than a Neko (no nail weights, o-rings) so if they're biting it, I'd keep with the shaky head. The Neko rig excels during tough bites, and gives you a lot more experimentation. You can use different weights, weight positioning, hook positioning, etc, so chances are fish are less conditioned to the Neko rig.

would the hook rip through the plastic worm during casting??
@Wired2Fish
@Wired2Fish 9 жыл бұрын
The plastic used in this video didn't tear, but I'm sure we'll have some rigging videos in the future that incorporate the use of o-rings and surgical tubing, which would extend the life of the plastics. Good question for sure.

What rod and reel setup would you recommend for multi-species fishing under $100
@jeremiahgiles3593
@jeremiahgiles3593 8 жыл бұрын
for freshwater a medium spinning setup will get the job done. 6'6" to 7'. in saltwater, a 7 or 8 ft spinning MH

What do recommend for a freshwater a medium spinning setup . 6'6" to 7'
@jeremiahgiles3593
@jeremiahgiles3593 8 жыл бұрын
If its multi species and not just for bass, a 6'6" medium spinning combo and 8-10lb test will handle most anything in freshwater. Try an Abu Garcia combo. If you want REALLY cheap, yet effective, Shakespeare and south bend are better brands

Yeah guys we all know those heads are expensive....lol Just stop for a second, what if the screw head is the better alternative. We all have little tricks we believe in more than other tricks. We pay 1/4 of our salaries a year on tackle, why stop at a Neko or a nail head....I prefer the screw head, it adds a lot more profile to my bait. #5oz #bassfishingisfun Great Vid!!!!

@Wired2Fish 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Austin, Mark Courts is using the Berkley Powerbait Shaky Snake in this video, which is a great option: goo.gl/RI5dTr Most stick worms work fine. Lures like the Yamamoto Senko or Zoom Fluke Stick have the right profile. We also produced a video on using creature baits for Neko Rigging: www.scout.com/outdoors/wired2fish/story/1614992-neko-rigging-tips-and-tricks

So it's just a wacky rigged worm with a weight? This Neko guy is ground breaking
@Wired2Fish
@Wired2Fish 8 жыл бұрын
+Dippin' Dave Essentially, only you're nail weighting the end so that it falls through the water very fast, and vertically. When dragging in, the nail weighted end maintains bottom contact with the tip moving very naturally. I guess you can think of it as a very efficient vertical wacky rig.
