The world is on edge as North Korea threatens America with a nuclear attack, and many are imagining the unthinkable. However, if you are half-a-mile from the epicenter of the explosion, it is possible to survive a nuclear blast. "It's what you do in the first 5 to 10 minutes after a bomb goes off that's going to save your life," radiation safety expert Andy Karam told Inside Edition. If you can get inside and put 20 to 30 feet between you and the fallout, the distance will keep you safe. #InsideEdition

taking in consideration it would have to be a VERY SMALL device, on the order of 2KT for the story to even come close to being correct. Most likely the device would be 150KT or greater and being a half mile from epicenter, or commonly referred to as ground zero, you won't survive the blast. PERIOD unless you were already in a hardened shelter then the over pressure would kill you. The intense thermal blast will vaporize most buildings within that half mile radius and set most flammable items afire miles from ground zero. As for radiation, you would be inundated with gamma radiation, the most deadly type and the hardest to protect against, if it is already on your clothes or in your hair you will have been exposed to hundreds of roentgens and you will get to experience a slow agonizing death as you bleed out of most orifices.. -there will be no power, -EMP will knock out electronics, -radiation will last days if not weeks depending on time of year, rainfall and wind speed -those hospitals which survive the initial blast will be overrun by patients providing doctors survive the blast, -food and water will be in short supply for weeks. then anything local would be contaminated in short, there is no surviving a nuclear blast much less within a half mile from ground zero

Lets say their bombs could even make it over here, it would be headed toward somewhere like Washington D.C, New York City, California or maybe even Texas...somewhere well known and that would cause mass devastation if targeted. So if you don't call one of those places your home i'm sure you will be fine but you defiantly will feel an after affect that's for sure. Think of this though if god forbid something like that does come our way and you do happen to be so unlucky enough to be right in the line of fire, you will only have like only 0.0001 seconds to realize whats going on and then you will be dead without feeling a thing.. know this though if North Korea did try something it would mean inanimate death for them as well so why do it if nobody wins in the end?

Not really pretty sure they have notifications on your phone and warnings sirens etc before they strike so you will know whats going on but you'll be completely helpless. Im pretty sure its like a 10 - 30 minute warning ahead of time. Same thing like when theres gonna be a flood in your area or another disaster.
