Omg im going to try the whip hack because i have a lot of problems with my shoulders!!! I always bring them forward
@warriormaiden98293 жыл бұрын
Another tip: wall sits, while keeping your shoulders in contact with the wall. Stretches the front to keep your shoulders back, and strengthens your legs at the same time (and makes you curse whoever gave you the idea. XD).

@gabrielle95772 жыл бұрын
If you do try this please note to loosen your reins, your horse has to be in front of the vertical. Majority of dressage riders do behind the vertical which causes hyperflexion (craned neck) which is highly painful and uncomfortable for horses.

Keep it up 👍 also you look beautiful in the video and it’s inspiring to look and feel my best with my horse. All the different pieces come together to make each day at the barn it’s best.

Great tips! I need to try the whip tip again, my shoulders are my Achilles heel, haha! And I am weird, I love no stirrup work, I actually couldn't sit trot to save my life until we tried with no stirrups, now it is easier without them, haha, and I have to learn how to get better WITH stirrups! I haven't cantered yet, the end of this month will be the year anniversary of the start of my lessons, I CANNOT WAIT TO canter, even more after hearing you say it is easier, haha- I can't wait!

I have a HUGE problem with my seat especially because I have a very tense seat and a curved back due to the fact that I always get horses who love to pull on the rains which immediately pulls me forwards and tenses me up in case the horse will pull on the reins again. I'd love to learn how to sit properly though.

Dressage stick? It's actually called a dressage crop or whip

Phillip Ellery my bad it is because in french (my native language) we simply call it a “stick”. Which is funny because it is an english word so I thought that I wouldn’t need to translate haha.

@warriormaiden98293 жыл бұрын
If you can't do the whip tip, do wall sits while keeping your shoulders touching the wall. It stretches the muscles across your chest so your shoulders stay back, and strengthens your legs at the same time (and makes you curse whoever gave you the idea for the exercise. XD). Works wonders. :)

Gets your shoulders back but also arches your back and disengages your core you can buy a harness that gets your shoulders back without ruining your back and core
@theerinwilliams4 жыл бұрын
That’s why it’s a training aid only intended for short time use. Additionally my shoulder blades are pretty big so makes my back looks curved, so I don’t need any help thanks, it’s just the way I’m built.
@Anastasiyax4 жыл бұрын
@@theerinwilliamswasn't aiming for u specifically but it's a lot safer and better for your posture to get a proper aid than using a crop which exaggerates and still puts you in the wrong position. If be showing that instead of posting the 'hack' for views because it's "cool"
@warriormaiden98293 жыл бұрын
@@Anastasiyax Best thing I've found for shoulders back/hips straight is wall sits. Keep shoulders and butt glued to the wall while doing the sits. Stretches the muscles in front so it's less painful to keep your shoulders back while riding (one of the reasons the whip trick hurts), and allows you to feel the angle your hips are at as they hit the wall. (Also makes you curse whoever gave you the exercise, but what good exercise doesn't? XD)
@terriedwards17703 жыл бұрын
I will try both the whip n 🍎
@millerpinemeadows27553 жыл бұрын
Riding is not positional. Or postural. It is dynamic. You focus on being balanced and use subtle muscle nuances to maintain your neutral spine. So you can communicate subtly with your horse. Teaching these things will set people back from their full riding potential and cause chaos for the horse = soundness issues and muscle imbalances. I'm not just saying this to be a jerk - I specialize in horse and rider biomechanics and rehabilitative and train horses that come to me after being ridden poorly.

@warriormaiden98293 жыл бұрын
You would be surprised at just how many muscles you use and calories you burn while riding. And that doesn't include hauling tack/hay/equipment/grain/everything else, all the bending/twisting/picking up while grooming, mucking out, and holding horses still for worming/health checks/teeth floating/whatever else they don't want to stand still for that's necessary to keep them healthy. Taking care of horses is a really good way to get in shape/stay in shape. XD
