Lost my Dad and fishing buddy 3 years ago today. This video reminded me so much of why I cherish the memories he and I made on the water. Thank you

I feel your pain! All we can do is cherish the F outta the time we had with them. It sucks! I'm very sorry for your loss. I lost my pops in 2012, only having 1 or 2 fishing trips together. Stay strong and catch a big one for both of our dads!! 💪🏾🎣

Love how you're teaching life lessons, of asking permission and being respectful, picking up after yourself and others when on someones property. Those things that go with fishing, teach kids so much more beyond just fishing itself. For those that dont know, if you hold a catfish by the top of the head, the back of your hand bumping up against the top spine, and thumb and pinky finger behind the side spines. I had to teach myself over the years as adults that didnt know, showed me putting their foot over the fish and using pliers to get the hook out. I didnt like how that looked to me, even as a kid...lol.

Your boy throws that baitcaster very well for an 11 year old. Most men nowadays aren't that capable. Give him the first cast at the best areas. It's more fun for me watching my daughter catch em than catching them myself. Every fish builds their confidence.

Fishing ponds with a friend is what got me hooked on bass fishing. Still have fond memories of those days. Thanks for sharing your pond fishing trip.

I appreciate that you guys do pond videos from time to time for us bank guys. I fish shallow ponds that get totally choked with vegetation during the summer but I’m not complaining because I love frogging. I catch lots of 5s and a few 6s each summer throwing a frog. I plan on buying a nice pedal drive kayak soon so I won’t be limited to fishing from the bank for long. North Carolina has several good lakes and lots of rivers I’ll be able to fish. I’m stoked to start exploring some new water!

What area of the country are you fishing? I'm in southern California, where the bass know the lures better than the staff at tackle warehouse! 🤣

Tim seeing you and JD out there together reminds me so much of when I was his age and my dad would take me to our farm pond, we’d catch so many fish together, bass, slab crappie, always had a great time. Some of my favorite memories with him. Nowadays we try to go out together on his boat as often as we can and I’m trying to find myself a new kayak so he can have my current one

This was awesome. Appreciate the love for us shorebound anglers. It also brought back fond memories of fishing with my dad as a kid. We used to go to a local pond with one area we officially deemed to be “catfish corner” to avoid when going for bass. He passed away when I was 20 and 12 years later my daughter caught her first fish on vacation and that hidden part of my heart unlocked so many memories. Nothing like fishing with family!!!

Really like pond fishing. JD is growing so fast. Glad he got on a couple catfish! Definitely a different feeling than a bass especially in a pond. Very nice looking ponds!

I have a couple feature-less shoreline fishing only ponds I’ve been fishing for many years…these small lakes/ponds have muddy bottoms with grass 8 out of 12 months…by far the most productive lure for me has been a lipless crankbait. The fish tend to be further offshore most of the year at these highly pressured lakes, and the lipless crank can cover lots of water and reach zones of the lake many others lures can’t reach. The only time of the year the lipless can’t be fished at these ponds is when the grass grows too thick and reaches the surface during the summer months…that’s a perfect time for topwater frog, popper, or stick bait fishing…

I do a lot of pond fishing using live bluegill for bait fishing for big largemouth, and catching them, also catching big bluegill fishing deep in the summer months using leeches. I have found that learning about such things as weed growth, depth, and what the fish see and eat every day makes it a more fun on the water.

Oh this one is going to blow up. We have some huge ponds here just outside of Denver, I love fishing them, but I absolutely and desperately need a kayak because bank spots are limited. These public bodies of water get a ton of bank pressure here.

Funny that whenever I go bank fishing, I always end up bringing way more lures and plastics than I needed. I always think afterwards about that. Yet Tim says to keep things simple, he only brings a few things. Basically about 3 times as much as I do! Ha!!!! Just messing with you!

I love this because to me it’s like me teaching my wife how to bass fish. My wife has never fished her entire life. Complete opposite of me. So the last year or so I’ve been teaching her to fish. Not only bass fish but trout fish as well since we live in Idaho. Like you and Matt I never fished from an actual bass boat until my late teens. But my dad and I always had a small aluminum boat that we fished from on the California Delta. What is your camera setup for this kind of fishing? I have a GoPro and the chest mount as well as the max lenses mod as well as the media mod etc. Just curious what you used to film this video. Thank you 🎣

@andybales73187 ай бұрын
Depends what type of topwater....Matt & Tim use braid + leader for most techniques i believe....my .02, I use mono for all treble hooked topwaters & Braid for frogs...Have caught plenty of frog fish on 20-25 lb. Mono as well

I often fished in ponds, but there are more and more places where fishing is prohibited. By the way, I heard that there are few opportunities for sight fishing other than bed fishing in the United States. Is that true? In my country, there are times when I can complete a day's fishing just by sight fishing from spring to fall.
