Awesome Bank Fishing With 3 Tips To Catch More Bass While Pond Fishing

Tim got access to an awesome pond! He's walking the shore with son JD and friend Caleb and they're catching nice bass! Come along for really good fishing with a glide bait, small swimbait, senko, and more. Fishing from shore allows you to fish unique angles that boats can't reach. Tim has a few tips that will make it even easier the next time you're on the bank.
Tim starts off fishing with an S-Waver. The idea being that glide baits have incredible drawing power, pulling fish up from great distances. Best case scenario, you'll catch a giant, but even if you don't you're likely to see what is lurking in the depths as they come up to examine the bait. Tim's next trick is to focus on smaller swimbaits in bluegill and panfish colors.
While every pond's ecosystem is different, almost all of them contain panfish. You simply can't go wrong with a bluegill imitator. You may find that white or flashy colors will work but unlike most large bodies of water, its always smart to start with bluegill imitators rather than shad imitators. When Tim switches to the senko he shares his 3rd trick for maximizing his time on the water.
When shore fishing its often important to make long casts to maximize your fishing area. At the end of a long cast it can be really difficult to detect bites, especially with weightless presentations. Tim recommends switching your finesse rod to "high visibility" (Neon) line so that you can see the bites instead of feeling them.
Pond fishing is often overlooked and with the current shelter in place around the country, its more likely than ever that you're pond hopping to catch a bass. I always let my kids use my gear and still do. They know how I treat all my gear (an Uncle taught me as a child) and I expect nothing less. One of my kids takes older kids and sometimes adults who have never fished before out fishing and they are allowed most of my gear. Of course I do have to retie and untangle things sometimes but it is all worth it.

When I was a kid I had a Zebco 202 on a gray 5'4 rod. Still have the reel took it apart this winter got it oiled and working. Broke the rod years ago. Put it on a fish stick 5'4 rod. It looks great! Not getting rid of it either. Brings back alot memories fishing with June bugs, Lazy ikes, Crappies jigs and Night crawlers with bobbers. Man, To be a kid again. No creek or pond was safe. Started my kids and their friends fishing with an ultralight rod, Hoffman’s Lures Frizz’s Spoons with the barb bent down and a pair of needle nose pliers. They would graduate to 3” Texas Rigged Senko Fat worms. Boy, those were Great Days! Daughter continued to fish with me through High School and College in both the States and Canada for trophy muskies. So much fun! Yes! More bank fishing videos preferably in lakes please. Pond is better than nothing, but in Calif where do we have ponds? The nice thing about you doing the bank fishing video is two things. Theres alot of bank fisherman and we get to see how u pick your spots without electronics and secondly the camera angle in this was that i got to pay attention to see how u retrieve and work the baits. I was especially interested in the S WaVer 168. I just bought my first one and the rod/reel setup u guys recommended - 7'2" Curado Heavy and Shimano Tranx 200. I fish my golf course pond about 3 times a week. Always change up my lures and presentation. Been doing it for about 30 plus years. It helps me when I go to a big lake as it builds my confidence in new lures and techniques. I go out to Texas each year and there’s a pond behind the hotel I stay it. After 5 years, I decided to fish it blind. I walked over to Cabellas across the street, bought a cheap Bill Dance combo and a Plopper Junior. Got a nice three pounder and two pounder. Every day I caught at least two bass. As an avid kayak angler, ihadforgotten bank techniques. The last couple of years though myrig was really uncomfortable for me and I retired it and started bank fishing again. What should have. Even a set back was a blessing because I got back into technique driven fishing. These last year and a half has been my most productive and educational time fishing. I never fished at a golf-course pond, Tim, but I did work as a groundskeeper for seven years and I can tell you from experience that golf-course water hazards are little ecological environments in their own right. I can recall seeing snapping turtles, water snakes, and little frogs, that fled in terror from my weed eater, not to mention the geese that my bosses hated for the mess they made. Green pumpkin 4.8 Keitech. They were smashing it. Later when the tail toke off (braid backlash...that tail kept going lol) I caught four in a row using it without the tail!
