I’m glad I’m not the only one who isn’t into audiobooks! For some reason, it doesn’t really feel like reading to me (no shade to those who listen to them!). I also just love the entire experience of reading a physical book, seeing progress and turning each page.

I recently discovered your channel and love your videos. I’m like you with audio books - my mind wanders. It was nice seeing that I’m not alone.

Welcome, Dave! And thanks so much! You’re defintely not alone with that in audiobooks 😄

Love this, Tori! I still consider myself someone who's getting back into reading. I'm constantly having fun discovering new genres I'm into. And I also read about 50 books per year. But I still struggle with not comparing myself to other booktubers and the amounts they read. Also I need to watch less booktube so I can read more. 😳😄
@ToriMorrow2 жыл бұрын
Same! I’ve struggled with that too and it’s so easy to get caught up in it how much we’re reading/not reading. And I love that you’ve been getting back into reading 😊 You’ve been such a light in the booktube community!

I needed this! I’m ashamed to admit how many books I read last year. My goal is 20 this year. I like doing nonfiction for audiobooks and fiction for paper books. I also do re-reads in audiobook form.

Your output is so close to mine. I definitely was starting to feel like I wasn't reading enough or doing something wrong because I wasn't reading like 100 books like some other tubers.

Good tips! I ALWAYS have a book with me as well and I can only listen to audiobooks when we’re traveling because that’s the only time I can actually pay attention.

This was great. Great advice to put all of your attention in the book you are reading. It’s not a contest to read the most books. I just stumbled onto your channel and I am really enjoying the content. I think we have pretty similar reading tastes and I have already put some of your recommendations in the cart. Thank you
@ThatsSoPoe2 жыл бұрын
So agreed about rediscovering your reading tastes! I went through a huge fallow period about a decade ago because I'd gotten so bored with reading the same thing all the time. Getting into the bookish internet (reddit and then Booktube) introduced me to so many different genres and revitalized my reading.

Love these tips :) I always have my ereader with me too, even if I'm going for a short walk to pick up dry cleaning. What if I decide to stop for coffee on the way? Or what if I trip, fall, sprain my ankle, and need to wait for someone to pick me up? 🤣 I hope you have a great reading year, Tori!

I found reading along while listening to an audiobook helped me get used to them but I still find, for me, that audio only is only good for rereads. I've also noticed that I read faster than most audiobooks (I usually listen on 2x speed) so I can get a little frustrated but I read Count of Monte Cristo, with audio & physical, and I think it helped me take it in a little better because I had to slow down 🤷♀️

Two things….1) I found that I struggle with listening to fiction. HOWEVER, I totally can get through nonfiction with Audible. It’s the only way I can get through nonfiction these days. 2) I keep a book on me when I’m out and about. I was reading in line at Target the other night. Was I holding up the line? YES. Full tilt holding up the checkout line reading a hardcover leaning over my shopping cart. You would be surprised how much you can get read while in line waiting to check out of a store. 🙂😁

Not you holding up the line! 💀💀 That must’ve been a good book 🤣 nonfiction actually sounds like the perfect genre for audiobooks! I have a few on my tbr this year and will have to give it a try
