Thank you so much for this video! I’ve had my polychromos pencils for months now, and every tutorial is geared more towards drawings or towards artist’s level of use! This was perfect! Now I better start sharpening!! TFS!

You can use a small brush with a bit of baby oil on, and go over the colors very lightly. This blends the colors more and brightens the color.

Thanks Emily, this card is stunning! I love coloring in colored pencil, it’s soothing to zone out a bit. So happy to hear that it took 2 hours to color, it takes me about that long too. Thanks so much for sharing your time and creativity, hugs!!!

I just tried doing Yana Smakula’s pink cardstock with another company’s daffodils background step. You going into how you layer color helps tremendously. I’m a watercolor person… I’ve had an entire set of polycromos for years. I definitely need to slow down and remember that I didn’t learn to watercolor over night!! This was huge help!!! I have a lot of Ellen’s sets including this one… I definitely need to follow more. Any tips for sharpening pencils??

Dear Emily Thanks a bunch. i really enjoyed and learnt a lot. for a new bee like me is it bettter to use polychromos or prismacolors which are wax based. I love to color and improving in baby steps and i will keep on practicing my colorfing. I even bk marjed this so that i can come back to it later. Blessings to you and your family and Ellen too.

Here's a little more info from Emily... "Hi there!! So glad you enjoyed the video! Prismas are a great product for learning the basics of colored pencils. It depends a lot on your personal coloring style; if you are a color layer-er like me, Polychromos pencils will give you a bit of leeway to add lots of layers. Prismacolors lay down thicker, more opaque color and can be blended quite smoothly with the help of a blending pencil or other blending medium. I started with prismas, but after working with them for quite a while, I discovered that I prefer the blending of the Polychromos. Sorry if that’s clear as mud!"

I think it's best for the learning process especially in a tutorial to use the "name" of the color and NOT a number! The process of learning and understanding colors... tones etc. Is in my opinion very important for technique, blending, mapping out a piece etc. No1. Can do the work for you. Also, the chart offered here (not free) also encourages the same practice of numbering the colors. If someone referenced phathalo blue you wouldn't really know what that color looked like! 😂 kinda a no brainer why the number system just seems like cheating oneself.
@ciannacoleman5125 Жыл бұрын
Unlike with paints, colored pencil companies tend to change color names periodically but keep the number the same. Some of the names correlate to traditional paint pigments but many of them don’t so numbers are the most accurate for people wanting the same color.
