I'm always curious about why boardslide videos never seem to address the issue of weight distribution. I bring this up because anyone with a skateboard background will tell you that having any weight on the forward edge of the board will cause the board to stick in place and the skater will be flung forward having to run out of it. combine this with the snowboarding knowledge that having your forward edge in the snow will cause the board to catch an edge and slam you down. With both of those facts in my head, the biggest problem I had when learning to boardslide a snowboard was that I didn't have to put my weight toward the back and balance on the back edge during a boardslide. Maybe it is just me, but I feel like that is a major thing to teach someone who is approaching a box for their first time-- center your weight and you don't need to lift the front edge in the air.

Staying flat is the hardest part. I can do FS boards on a skateboard all day, but I'm REALLY struggling on a snowboard

Friction homies friction. Snowboard slides comparing to skate slides feels like zero friction. One simple rule -> always keep body 90 degree vertical to the feature considering its angle. Good thing is that it is almost impossible to bail forward by leaning too much forward on the feature, usually should be more lean than we think while approaching new slide ✌️

Thinking the same exact thing. The hardest part of front boards was not addressed and that weight distribution.

Absolutely agree with the previous comment. Your new style is so nice to watch. Don't get me wrong, I love the old snow tutorials. But this just fuels my stoke in going out there and try it.

It would be nice to hear a tip on how to not slip out forward when doing front boards. TY.
@SnowboardAddiction
@SnowboardAddiction Жыл бұрын
If you are slipping out it is likely because your too upright - bending your knees and matching the angle of the feature making sure to keep your centre of mass over the board ensuring that your stacked and aligned. :)

Any quick tips for someone who's 6'4/193 cm and getting back to snowboarding after a 15 year hiatus and 66 pounds or 30 kilos gained? At least I was smart enough to buy a 165W board that's rated up to 120 kilos, leaves a few kilos of wiggle room still...:D It's like riding a bike, at least that's what I told myself. :D

That red, round downrail is the exact feature I've been practicing front boards on and I keep slipping out. One time I fell on the rail and bruised one of my ribs and now I'm scared to try again
@SnowboardAddiction
@SnowboardAddiction 2 жыл бұрын
Frontboards like doing that:( keep doing it on flat rails and rebuild that confidence. also a good trick to pratice it is when on a down tube/box go into 50-50 and when your locked in shifty into front board. Front board is a hard trick that most pro riders spent years to get good. so be easy on yourself and you will get it one day for sure!

Im confused. I thought that would be a backside because the back edge is forward. Also if you were to spin that direction it would be a backside rotation right?

if the obstacle is in front of you (toe side), then the trick will always be frontside.

BoardSports u have to have your weight going down hill and match the feature angle ... I like to put a little more emphasis on the weight down hill when first getting into it because it is slipper when u come off the snow... this helps me.. hope it helps u!!!

Why is this called ‘front’ side ??? Your back is faced down hill so your backside is sliding first . Makes no sense….. can you tell me why it’s called what it’s called ?
