We all know the best way to fix something like that is to replace the pipe fitting or whatever is broken, that goes without saying. However I like to see things like this because it can inspire a different type of repair and it's thinking outside the box! Most important inventions where discovered or created by mistake while trying to do something else all together. I go wheeling a lot with friends and sometimes your rig or truck will break down and the closest parts store is hours or days away so we need to "engineer" a trail fix as we call it inorder to get rolling again and get home so different ideas like this little trick on a pipe could help to inspire a repair and save the day. You never know so I like to watch all sorts of ideas like this one just to keep in the brain bank for future use!

Exactly. Many, many fixes like this one exist only to provide a temporary fix or to generate ingenuity in a completely different problem set. Your reply is one of the most useful comment and engineering perspectives I have read on You Tube in a long time! Bravo!

It could be made into a good solid connection, but at that point, it's just easier to do it properly... unless you are in a place that doesn't have a good supply chain and the right materials aren't readily available, like a many places in the world. Also, you may be in a truly time critical situation where, if the parts aren't on hand right then, there is a real problem. In those cases, you do what you gotta do. This to stop the leak and then a little JB Weld or other epoxy on the outside and you would be good to go for awhile... The only real concern would be if the materials in contact with the inside are potable water safe. But yes you are right. In normal circumstances, the normal repair procedures would be ideal and you would skip this

I don't think anyone would seriously consider this to be a permanent fix, but it's a good temporary repair to stop a flood, and unnecessary loss of metered water, till you can make a permanent repair, and for anyone who's going to say just turn off the stop tap, well unless you have worked in the building trade and met with a stuck stop tap, even a Water Company one, you won't understand, but those of us with practical experience of such things know what I'm talking about, and effecting a repair with available materials in difficult circumstances is not that unusual Julie

Thanks for your question, it's a very good question, I thought about it but after consulting the experts, I learned that using metal bolts can rust after a while , and that would be a good solution. If you have any other ideas please let me know. Have a nice day

For those saying is a temporary fix. It could be permanent just if possible closing the water supply and adding time sealant to the PVC screw

I’d cut it near flush and then sand the area and coat it heavily with JB plastic weld. That will hold.

@cesarcardona1984

@@tipsunknow yes I do, the best way to fix this problem without opening the wall, is you get 2 clamps the kind you screw to tighten, because it's a tight spot get a 2 inch diameter clamp, and a square piece of 1/8 patching rubber, you can probably use a rubber from a tire, wrap only half of the pipe with the rubber around the hole and put the 2 clamps over it tighten it and your done. Let me look on KZbin im sure I'm not the only one who figured this out and I'll upload the link.

You can make it with wire and water hose, somthing like this, but cut it in half to get it around the pipe.

This may be in another country, it's looks like an older house also .. no home Depot, or Lowe's, or Ace hardware stories for miles , so yes this could be done if put on the spot for a quick fix .. everyone here assume other people have the money and financing for such a repair .. go to places in South America, and tell me how their plumbing is .. people would be shocked to how many house don't have running water .. let alone city water lines ..
