thanks for sharing! good amount of detail for learning the process. Btw, sidewall and tread are made from different compounds since the sidewall's job is to flex the right amount, while the tread's job is about providing the right amount and type of grip. Different jobs, different compounds :)

The split on tyres is because in game the wheels are spinning. Then for example in RF2 and AC they use multiple moving blurred images of the tyres (motion blur on them) from less to max. This helps the game to translate spinning wheels better. So you need the twall (rotation) and tread (moving forward blur)

@kurbisfurst51942 жыл бұрын
If you are new to blender, I would advise you to learn the basics and start with easier tutorials. The Problem with this tutorial is, that even though the job was done in the end. The model itself wasn't clean. Using booleans allow you to add shapes easily , but you need to clean everything up afterwards, otherwise you will have a horrible topology and a lot of ngons. Under normal circumstances you would never present a model in this state. But as Damian mentioned, in the job you don't have that amount of time, and the end product wasn't the model but the render, so if the render looks good, you don't have a problem. ; Generally said though, you should keep your topology clean.

8:13 ... adding topology.. you could try this. Make a planar grid, delete 'Faces Only' and knife-project the grid down onto your existing mesh. Speaking as an old-school modeller, in fact, you could make your entire model this way, working out outlines in the flat, bridging edge-loops, etc, establishing good topology *before* going to 3D with *extrusions*. No Booleans, no 3D clean-up. It's a different workflow, worth trying to see if you get on with it, if you want reduce the horrible, horrible business of shovelling vertices around to a minimum.

So I got to the 8:00 mark adding topology to create a smoother surface but nothing seems to change when I add the extra vertices. My surface is still jagged. I have tried: -Recalculating normals -Shade smooth -Auto smooth -Adding subdivision surface modifier- BIG MISTAKE Each edge of each face is extremely jagged, not smooth at all. Im wondering how using a knife tool to add topology even works because you can't control the accuracy of the cuts and that creates bad topology. I have been working on this for the past week and I can't seem to resolve it. If anyone could help, I would appreciate it.

To work around this, I put the bezier curve modifier above the circle modifier, set both the curve twist methods to minimum, and moved the mesh around (both in edit mode and object mode) until it worked. It's a ridiculous workaround I know, but it worked for me. I hope this helps.
