Hello Lynn! Thank you so much for your motivation! I detect two things here that I know from my past self: You keep stuff for other people (what if someone needs this?). Yes, they will! But filling your space with other people's things is not really an option. And two: you lived in a really big house before. We have the tendency to fill that space. Now you don't live there anymore, but you didn't get rid of enough to match the new place yet. And on top: You moved. You don't have the same energy every day. You have a very small (and very cute) child. That keeps you busier than other people. I am confident that you will end up doing bigger sessions of decluttering with the change of seasons, but those six days are things you had to put off for future you. And future you being in the Now is questioning her life choices. It's just stuff. It doesn't define you and it is not worth beating yourself up over. Thank you for sharing all this with us. I loved the blessing with the vacuum story. I prayed for your sweet friend. I’ve switched over to decorating with natural elements. Such a game changer! I learned this from ScandishHome on KZbin- she does it beautifully! Fall- real baby pumpkins, pinecones, squash, fall leaves Winter- pieces of pine fallen onto sidewalks, pinecones, just some red ribbons added around Spring- wildflowers from ditches, anything green, sprigs of forsythia, daffodils (tulips if you have them) Summer- I plant zinnia seeds early summer & can cut them all summer long. Also roses, crape myrtle, anything booming! I use herbs sometimes for green -lavender or rosemary are feathery, Russian sage from the yard, etc. I don’t store any florals at all. A few times a year I might buy real flowers from the farmer’s market or Trader Joe’s or Walmart. Once you start looking around outside, you’ll see so many things to decorate and they look very elegant. Check out ScandishHome’s decorating for Christmas video recently. She always gets me inspired!

Hi Lynn, I was like you keeping stuff for others for “maybe” in the future as well as myself. I finally realized I don’t need to. I got rid of all of my silk flowers that I was keeping because I realized I like to buy new ones when I wanted a change. Now, I immediately put the old ones in a bag and take to donation center. I have not missed anything I was storing. I went through every room and only kept what I actually use. Now, if I find I need something, I buy it as needed. It is so freeing and now easier to clean as well as stay on top of small declutters. Even my clothes, I found I gravitated to the same jeans, shirts and tops. I finally got rid of a lot of extras. I do the laundry once a week and I have those items to wear the next week. You are doing a great job with so many people in your house!! The “people” Will just have to be more responsible for their items. They can help out quite a bit that way. I love your videos and the real life you present! We all help each other and encourage and support on our journey through life! You got this, girl!!!!❤

hi Lynn. First time watching your channel. You're very motivating, Great Job. I am subscribing today! Hey, I might have a word of wisdom for you from my own 4-year decluttering journey. My decluttering got to the place now where it's about 85% complete because of 3 major things. First, I stopped watching so many decorating videos. I follow the channels that focus on decluttering & organizing instead. Second, I stopped spoiling myself constantly by allowing myself to just buy whatever I saw & wanted. I didn't need it. Third, I only buy quality & only what I truly love & enjoy. The rest is just clutter in my mind. Those 3 things actually got me to where I am today with my home inventory. God Bless!

I am always looking for decluttering videos!!!! And for me, the guided declutters are the best. Where it's in the moment, talking through the decisions rather than a sped up declutter and just general talking over it. It takes longer that way, but I like seeing the true struggles of getting rid of things and the inner monologue that's happening.

Love your videos. I love having a clutter free space. What has helped me in the last few years is the saying “don’t pile you file”. I say this when I am tempted to put things in a spot “ for now” instead of filing or putting it where it needs to go. Instead of putting recycling in a pile. File it into container. It doesn’t take that much more time but saves so much more time in the future . Once there is a pile of it is tooooooo easy to add to the pile instead of just putting things in their home.

Hey! Lynn great job. Ur flowers will discolor bc they r in clear bins, which is awesome, but the sun gets to them when the garage door is open. I used a kids plain top sheet & attached it to the shelf unit so it looks like a curtain & it looks neat for me & hides it. I like my stuff in clear totes but hidden. I love a great clean garage. Great job. BTW I don't use my head rests either

I think from my experience you have to make the choice of what to do with the things before they arrive in the space . Here your doing the garage type place which would be my shed or loft . These are areas I hate doing so now I been ruthless about clearing out these spaces I’m super cautious when I’m putting things out/up into them I just straight donate or pop on the kerb or take to the dump . This has changed things for me a lot.

Lynn your declutter videos are so motivating!! I have a lot of accumulated craft and decor items. I would feel better if I let go of a lot of it. I have a huge walk in closet for my clothes and everything else. I just got our Christmas items out of our storage room. I want to clean out so much stuff I have accumulated. I share the storage room with my sister. She is very reluctant to let go of things. So somehow I have to find a way for her to let go of things.

This year I’m decluttering my Christmas decor and I’m actually very nervous about it. So much is sentimental and gifts over the years so I know it’s going to be emotional. But I just don’t use it and definitely don’t want to move it when I eventually downsize. Wish me luck 😳

Lynn….you are such a hard worker, however, you still just have too much stuff. I know you like to decorate but it just takes too much time and effort to manage all what you have. Good luck in trying to successfully declutter. My philosophy is if it doesn’t have a pulse….it doesn’t mean that much to me. We all like to have a nice home however empty space is underrated

Hi Lynn! Poor baby you are really having a time. I'm only 3:50minutes in and I can see what one issue is already sweetheart... You pick up something you look through it and then you put it right back down you don't get rid of it right then Whatever you put your hands on get rid of it dispose of it right then don't put it down and go to something else because you're never getting anything accomplished like that sweetheart. Maybe you need someone who specializes in organizing and they can come and help you put things into categories and all of those types of things. What do you think?
