They've fixed the issue with the instructions. It now shows the image flipped. Also, the rack comes powder coated now!

Just finished a basement room for workout area. Framed with 2x4's set 16 inches apart and threw drywall over it to finish. Wife is Martha Stewart incarnate and does not like the idea of horizontal stringers across the drywall. Do you know if this REQUIRES stringers to mount / mount safely? Or is it set up so that I could mount it into the studs and be just fine? Not sure if the spacing on the vertical poles is set up for this or if it was made to HAVE to have a stringer (or are you just using them because you're mounting to concrete and you wouldn't have needed them if it was a finished room?) Thanks!

Hi Chad, thanks for making this video. I believe it's the only instructional build vid on KZbin right now for the T-3 21" foldable. Great tip on installing the T-3 to the stringers before installing into the wall though I might follow the instructions. A question on your reply to Emmanuel Ramirez below. In your reply you meant to say that a lesson learned was to put 1/8" shims below the main vert bars before attaching the whole thing to the wall. I get that. But can you clarify if you use the shims when you're working out? Or just for installation purposes? I imagine you remove them after install and the weight of the bar + weights puts enough weight to stabilize the vert bars.
@chneukirch1
@chneukirch1 7 жыл бұрын
Bob Kim I would remove the shims after install. I'm in construction - very few garage floors are flat to 1/8"-1/4" in 5'-6'. Sorry for late response. KZbin doesn't notify me of comments.

Will the T3 accessories work with this? Like dip bar? Maybe add a crossbar instead of the pull up bar

More talk about shims... my titan folding rack was delivered yesterday. Been thinking a lot about how to install it. Hear a lot of people running into the same issue of it dragging when folding... before I saw your video I was planning to get some 1/2 inch thick wood and make little platforms to fit under each foot when the rack folded out. Then when you fold it against wall you would have 1/2 inch clearance above ground(no dragging) but when it’s folded out it would be resting on the little platforms/shims. In another comment you said your shim idea was just for construction, then discard the shim. If you did this wouldn’t the rack feet be slightly off the ground when in use? Putting more stress on the wall/stringers
@chneukirch1
@chneukirch1 6 жыл бұрын
Texas Buzzard I was thinking only about 1/8" to Max of 1/4" shims. The stringers will handle it.

@@chneukirch1 Please correct me if I am incorrect. Are you saying that your rack is floating and not touching the ground when it’s in use? I am in the process of trying to install my rack, but I don’t want to have any problems folding the rack. I also don’t want the rack ripping out of the wall when I place hundreds of pounds on it. 😅

@chneukirch1 4 жыл бұрын
@@S1owNsteady no. I just used the 1/4" shims to avoid it dragging on the concrete floor.

Thanks for this video. I just got the X3 folding rack. I'm installing in a carpeted room and collapsing am upright is almost impossible due to the friction. Thoughts on solution? Would removing the end cap help? Would it compromise integrity? I'm happy to try that but then I'll need to drill new holes and if that doesn't work I might need to get a new stringer, etc...

Check out his response to Bob Kim below. He used a 1/8" shim below the main vert bar during installation, and slid it out afterwards. I'll be doing the same thing when I install mine.

I am getting this rack today. I plan to install on the side wall of my garage. I have a brick lip on the bottom and then wide molding on the drywall. Can I move the lower arms up with no problems? Also my garage slopes a good bit. Would it be ok to install it leveled to the floor? It may make the j hooks unleveled! Thanks for any help

For the lower swing arms, is it possible to mount them a little higher on the vertical bar? The instructions say use the 2nd and 5th holes. Wonder if it would be possible to go up to the 3rd and 6th or higher.

@@levelinguponthenarrowpath no, I ended up going with the Titan space saver rack instead of the folding model. It allowed me to lag the uprights directly into the ground/concrete, no lower arms needed.

If I'm unfortuate enough to not have a concrete wall. How would your recommend installing it into drywall with steel studs
@medinafrancisco12
@medinafrancisco12 3 жыл бұрын
Similar way. Install the 2x8 ledgers, using lag screw onto the wall studs. Then attach rack supports onto ledger using lag screws. Whenever lag screws are being used there has to be a pre drilled hole slightly thinner than the lag screws, so it doesn't brake apart the wood.

I know you installed this in masonry, but if I am installing on a stud wall, when I bolt to the stringers, do I need to use an anchor? it seems like not a lot of support to just bolt to the stringer, but I am a noob so could be wrong?
@shotparrot
@shotparrot 3 жыл бұрын
No you're right, just bolt the stringer to the studs. I will probably use 8 total, 3" long by 1/4" should do it. (My T3 folding rack is still sitting in its box in my garage haha)

I did have one follow up question. I've seen a lot of the reviews complaining about the width being 50" and not the standard 48", that alot of people have issues racking and re-racking a standard oly bar. Have you had any similar issues? Thanks!
@chneukirch1
@chneukirch1 6 жыл бұрын
Brian Hall I don't have an Oly bar, I have the Chan bar. But the outside to outside dimensions of the rack tabs are around 49-1/2"-50". According to Rogue, their Oly bar is 70.35" from inside face of sleeve to inside face (or nearest part to rack tabs). Seems like enough room to me.

Chad - thanks for an informative video. Have you found the rack to be too narrow? I just measured my Ohio bar and the distance between the sleeves is right about 54” and I think the uprights are 53” outside to outside. Less than an inch clearance on each side seems really tight. Apologize in advance if I missed your comment about it during the video!
@chneukirch1

Johan Flostrand yeah I'd agree it would be nice to have it wider, but for the price point and value - it works great. I just moved to a new place and re-setup the entire rack. Took me around an hour Total. I do wish we could get it powder coated.

Chad Neukirch thanks for the quick reply! I realized I miss typed it... I’m actually concerned it being too wide, so I guess you haven’t had problem with the bar “barely fitting” back into the rack... let’s say when you’re walking it back after a back squat?

One more comment - sorry about all the repeats! With the 21.5"... does it fold "inward" or do you still have to fold both arms to the side? Im only seeing one picture where it's folded on their website and it's to the side.

Sidetrackk99 not sure where you're located or the year of your house. But most walls are grouted with rebar every 36-48" and have a bond beam at the top (concrete filled). They were built to withstand hurricanes, atleast here in Florida.

I know the uprights are 3x3 inch on the X3 and 2x3 on the T3. I think that is the main difference. X3 can handle more weight but unless your top tier powerlifter it doesn't matter, my two cents.
