Titanium or Aluminum Bike Frame?? Simple Test to find out and 100% reliable.

One look at the welds and it tells if it Ti or Aluminum.

Yes true aluminium welds are very distinctive bigger welds bumps where's Ti is usually smoother and tighter welds... what put doubt in my mind was the guy at the bike shop said that some of the early Ti frames were a bit rougher and diamondback made Ti frames in the 90s and couldn't tell me for sure if it was definitely (what I suspected) aluminium...

Wonder how this test could apply to components. Have a quill stem head of unknown material connected to steel stem tube body, and I need to find out if it's titanium or aluminum. I wonder how far the steel part needs to be away from the magnet to not interfere with this test.

Just used a sea magnet on bike frame and there is no grab but on the frame part with other metal bracket there is. The conclusion is titanium frame.

But there is aluminum in every titanium frame. Like between 3 and. 6 percent among other metals. Even ferrum which is magnetic is content of those alloys. So I don't see why the test should be reliable...? If you want to show the difference why not compare it to a "real" ti frame?
