I think he won't lose his title if he is indeed a legit fide rated player, the only penalty he'll get is having to lose that account on chess.com. But I'm NOT 100% sure.

I completely agree that spoilers shouldn't be in the title. I hate when chess.com puts spoilers for the speed chess championship and other events on their front page. Personally, I didn't find it a guarantee when I read the title that magnus would be the winner, considering all eyes would be on him regardless, but maybe that was just my take
@marfeddewrwz
@marfeddewrwz 6 жыл бұрын
Come on, this is Magnus... you don't need spoilers to know he is going to win. And the title says "puts on a blitz show" which is something we already know is going to happen.

At 32:08 of the video, what happens if Magnus Carlsen takes white rook by playing Qa8? If white decides not to take the black queen at a8, then Carlsen is up a rook but if white decides to take black queen by playing Ra8, black will simply play Rd8+. White is forced to take the black rook at d8; black will then take the white rook at d8+ from his rook sitting at d1. Checkmate! Did Carlsen miss this move? Please provide me your feedback. Thank you very much.

at 32:04 (I know this is late) but is queen takes a1 not winning? after rook takes queen back rook d1 then rxd1 rxd1 then Ne1 Rxe1#? EDIT: I see that you can obviously counter it by making an escape route with the pawn instead of taking the queen but at that point you are still down too much material.
@FiveThings2018
@FiveThings2018 6 жыл бұрын
I think Magnus should've gone for QxRa1. If white tries to counter by attacking black's rook with the pawn (and creating an escape route) then just rook to d1.

RubixNinja there’s no memorising about Magnus’s play - he wins his games here in the the middle and end game phases, and dominates via his deep positional understanding. Nothing to do with memorisation.
