They should deploy the spikes first and then put the metal sheets down so it pushes them better in the ground. Or if they drilled into the ground that would be ideal
@thatcringyplaneguy4 ай бұрын
My guy, I think they know what they’re doing.
@blox26292 ай бұрын
I don't even know if you'll ever even see this, But those spikes go 42 Inches into the ground, The rear spikes go down 28 inches, Deploying the spikes first would be a problem, As they are fully extended, those things are probably gonna bend as there isn't any soil to prevent them from flexing, As the other guy has commented, They definitely know what they're doing

You need to changed those cylinder rods out to sharper spikes on the tip instead of ends that are so blunt. You'll stab soft ground easier and deeper and not lift up the whole vehicle a couple inches like you did here creating a mini air gap under bottom edge of deployment ground shields that should have been 100% flush with the ground for maximum protection.
@blox26292 ай бұрын
Man, I believe they know what they're doing, But also that mini air gap doesn't really matter as 98% of the air would be going up and over because that's the path of least resistance. And even if air got under, it would be slowed and squeezed because of the tiny air gap, In 2008 it featured a front flap that was segmented by 3 parts, had big airgaps, even the side flaps didn't have an extra front bit, and it'll still survive, and in 2009 the spikes were added and they originally were spear ended, but i think they replaced it for a good reason

Since you didnt show the back spikes deploy, does that mean the front and the back deploy at the same time?
@blox26292 ай бұрын
they probably deploy the front and rear at different times, but back then when the thing only had 2 spikes because of the back flap, they would even deploy each spike at separate times, but now they deploy both side flaps, and 2 spikes at same times

Have you guys ever considered using earth anchors? Seems like the drill down time is a big disadvantage. A few 5” long x 3” wide steel earth anchors with cable attached in the center so they act like barbs may be faster. Especially if you opt for explosive driven vs hydraulic. Just cut the cable and leave afterwards
@thetrashking6747 Жыл бұрын
TIV 1 had earth anchors, the only reason the spikes are there is to prevent drifting and with the earth anchor they don’t really dig into the ground, spikes give a more sturdy stand.
@blox26292 ай бұрын
this idea really doesnt work, and also just leaving the spike in the ground after deploying is a BIG BIG BIG no no, but in the TIV 2 Even if the spike is just a few inches in the ground, the vehicle wouldn't even slide anymore, Believe it or not, while intercepting the 2013 Lebanon Kansas tornado, Herb (driver of the dow, temporary driver of tiv 2) was still deploying the spikes even while in the tornado, so it really isn't a BIG disadvantage, Its more of a positive
