In 1976, when I was nine years old, my father took me on my very first roller coaster, a kiddie coaster, at Tivoli Gardens. He decided he didn't care much for roller coasters... but I've gone on to become a 55 year old coaster enthusiast. My obsession has been nonstop and consistent since that fateful day in Denmark so many years ago. Thanks Dad. He also took me to Legoland. So I went home to the states and got tell all my friends I went to a land of Legos. Which was a bonkers claim for an American kid in the mid 70s.

tivoli has no must do attractions because the park itself is the must do. this park is the blueprint for parks as we know them today. it is not for nothing that Walt Disney was inspired by this park for his parks. the park is a total experience. it is one of the nicest parks in the world. just walking around here makes you happy. everything is so beautiful and well maintained and if you consider how old everything is, it makes it even more beautiful. it may not be big but that's what makes it so much fun. it is not a day spending but perfect for an evening only. a park like this does not need extremely large attractions. and you shouldn't compare it to big parks either. if you are still looking for a must-do attraction, then that is the Rutschebanen. every roller coaster enthusiast with a bit of historical awareness should have ridden this one.

Small fact: Dæmonen is not the smallest b&m coaster, it is the smallest b&m looper but they have also built 2 family suspended coasters in china.

Very neat review. As a local though a few corrections, fun facts, and other things that might help you and many others out. So first of all the park does actually have a fireworks show and an incredibly impressive one at that, however its only on saturdays. The light show that you saw is like their secondary offering. Secondly the park might actually have had a standout ride that one would come back to this place just to experience in the past. That being a ride called Vertigo. It was a unique flatride by Technical park which was known for pulling 5G's on riders for up to 30 seconds at a time! It was quite popular, especially with enthusiasts but it was a maintenance nightmare so the park has decommissioned it. They still await a replacement but they have moved a kids drop tower that used to stand over by the powered coaster for the time being. Also like these are just minor details but Fatamorgana aint even the newest ride. TikTak, the mondial shake below the star flyer is. And the fairy tale dark ride does have an english voiceover but yeah. And the big entrance with the Lego store is the main entrance. There is the other entrance by the Central station but thats it. There are 2 exits, one by City hall square and one by Fatamorgana facing the Glyptotek (a sculpture gallery) but those are exits only. Personally my favorite part of the park is Smøgen, the little backalley behind Rutschebanen from which you enter the fun house. That place has the perfect vibe. And the rest of this are just gonna be fun facts so here we go. Tivoli has several different show venues, like the central concert hall behind the chair swing, the Glass hall in between the central field and the lake, the Pantanome theatre seen at 7:28 used for ballets and such, and of course the main stage at the central field used for everything from character shows, to orchestra music, to Dog shows, and huge concerts with big names like 50 cent and Aqua. But the park has something for everyone. Their entire thing is having 4 different key focuses. The Scenery and landscaping. The culinary treats, the cultural experiences with shows and concerts, and lastly the rides.
@drdewott9154
@drdewott9154 Жыл бұрын
Also my fault technically the 2 small coasters are newer than even Tik Tak but they're pretty much direct clones of the ones they replaced either way.

Don't quite see how Fatamorgana technically is the newest attraction. It opened in 2015, TikTak opened in 2018, Mælkevejen and Kamelen in 2019 and Villa Vendetta in 2021 ;-) Glad you guys enjoyed Rutschebanen Best regards from one of the brakemen

Cool video and great review! But you seem to have misunderstood the meaning behind the ride you call 'haunted mansion style ride vehicle'. This is supposed to be flying suitcases taking you on a journey through the fairytales of HC Andersen, a very famous Danish author. Also the author that originally came up with 'The Little Mermaid'. A very different story from what Disney turned it into.
@charlotteandersson7066
@charlotteandersson7066 Жыл бұрын
The reason why you couldn't get a grip about the dark ride "The Flying Trunk" is because it's based on the artwork of the writer H. C Andersen. Hence why there's so many different stories.

They probably went with B&M for the major rollercoaster because 4-across seating gives it higher capacity. Remember - it is a tiny park with a pretty huge number of guests. Also, they don't have that many rides to maintain, but get a lot of visitors, so I doubt the price is a problem.

True. And it was built way back in 2004. That was before we really saw a boom in compact roller coaster designs like the Eurofighter or Skyrocket 2. The market back then was much more limited. And existing compact-ish designs like the Vekoma Boomerang still would have a hard time fitting in (plus back then there was a different park in Denmark with a boomerang, and another park got an Invertigo in 2005 anyway. Both of which and their parks are closed now btw)

Me and partner are going to Copenhagen in the summer, I really want to try this place. Even if only to walk around and soak in the atmosphere. My partner isn’t really one for rides but will enjoy watching me if I go on any and just enjoy the park, what I want to know really is can you pay individually per ride if you just want to go one or two instead of buying and all inclusive wrist band?
@drdewott9154
@drdewott9154 Жыл бұрын
Oh you can pay per ride but the prices are really expensive per ride so if you plan on doing more than 3-4 rides total, just go with the wristband. Like as an example, a single ride on Rutschebanen costs 60kr while an all day wristband costs 170kr. So even if you plan to just ride that 3 times its already more worth to get the wristband.

If Tivoli is a theme park then what's the theme? I think calling any amusement park a theme park is a bit of an Americanism because theme parks are the norm over there.
@jimmie_g
@jimmie_g Жыл бұрын
seriously? I see theming everywhere from the Chinese tower, pirate ship, haunted house ride just to name a few. A theme park in essence is an amusement park that has theming (whether it's the rides and/or structures throughout the park) and Tivoli has it everywhere. A simple amusement park is a park with just barebone rides and ordinary, plain buildings for restaurants, shopping, games, etc. Everything else would just be concrete or grass. Tivoli is definitely NOT that.
