Looks like the sun warmed that side up faster than the ‘regular’ side. Great day of fishing, and a marvelous start to the tournament. I’m chomping at the bits to get on Rayburn Friday. BassForecast is predicting Thursday and Friday as ‘Epic’ days! Can’t wait.

Yes the solunar calendar is saying I need a fishing trip on Friday due to that New Moon. I've been scoping out a new lake. Hopefully the weather cooperates and I can get out there. It's very deep and famous for double digits. It's also very limited access. You'll have to let me know how you do at Rayburn!!!

Old Lady Angler Hope you did better than I did. Lost three on a frog, short striking, then hours of nada. Finally, late in afternoon, change to a dropshot with a Roboworm, bold bluegill color, and caught three quickly. Nothing of any size to brag about, but should have been using that dropshot all along.

Weather postponed my friday trip but I'm gonna try to get out there tomorrow. It's a 2 hour drive for me to get there. I just got home from Ft. Meyers a few minutes ago. Been a long, but fun day... so we'll see if I can drag my butt up at 0400 for fishing!!

Yeah this little lake has always had a fair amount of local folks. I've met and talked to some very nice guys and gals out there. It's supposed to be a good weekend for fishing!! New moon!

Well.... it wasn't easy getting over my FEAR (I was so scared of gators that I would have nightmares the night before I went fishing). This was only a little 3 footer. I definitely respect the big ones though. Give them lots of space. Especially during mating season. Thanks for watching.

I wasn't a youngin' though. It was only 3 years ago. hahaha. I never fished around gators until I moved here in 2016. I'd never fished from a kayak either.

You're doing a great job casting from sitting position. Some guys just can't cast while sitting. My first bass boat had a 'perminitly' mounted fishing chair, so I learned early how to cast sitting down. So I can cast equaly acuritly sitting and standing. I haven't tried it laying down yet. lol Now from a kayak or canoe, casting, playing the fish, and ecpecialy setting the hook I'd probably fall out.

You’re pulling them out like it’s nothing! You sure got on some nice fish there. Go go go! I bet you get Top 10 in April 👍🏼👍🏼 You raise a great point about instant reverse on pedal drives by the way. My kayak is a piece of junk 😀 and I haven’t committed to a “real” one yet but I’m planning to in the next year or so. Which means I pay way too much attention to kayaks! Do you feel any knee strain from pedaling? I am afraid I won’t be able to do the bicycle pedaling motion (as opposed to the pushing motion of the mirage style drives) because I’ve got a badly damaged knee.

Funny you mention knee pain in the pedal drives because I demo tested both the Hobie Sport Mirage and the Native Slayer Propel 10 on the same day. The Hobie push motion actually strained one of my knees during the demo. I found it awkward actually. The Native kayak felt natural right away. And the instant (hands - free) reverse is a one up on Hobie. I use reverse on almost EVERY single fish catch. It's second nature. Set the hook, reverse the kayak. Helps keep the line tight too. I can't say enough good about Native. And no I don't work for them and I'm not sponsored. I'm just a very satisfied customer. Best thing for you to do is DEMO both types of drives. See what feels best for your knees. Most dealers will be more than happy to let you demo. Especially if they have a water body near the store.

Old Lady Angler awesome insight-thank you!! It’s much harder to find a dealer up here who has demo units but I think you are absolutely right that I need to test them. I’m actually going to be in FL in July and may try to test them there if I can’t find the opportunity here.

That's a great idea. The place I bought mine has demo every day. They have a small lake on property so you can test anything they have in stock. Black Creek Outfitters in Jacksonville. I've heard that there's a really good dealer near Tampa too that has water on property for demo. If I can find the name, I'll let you know.
