@@Mechanitch Porting a console game to PC tend to be easier than doing the opposite simply because PCs tend to be more advanced than contemporary consoles. Meaning you either need to make heavy cuts to the game or it's gonna run like crap. Just look at the original Crysis that was developed with PC first and consoles as an afterthought. Not only it featured cut content, it also ran like crap on 360. and PS3.

​@@mondodimotori No buddy, that is not correct at all, if you're porting to a single specific console, you know exactly what hardware and software is going to be running, with PCs you got such a wide range of variables that is basically impossible to account for all.

@@YOEL_44 you're also wrong. porting to those ancient consoles was a nightmare. today it is easier to port games because consoles are now on pc architecture. yes games were developed specifically for console but the pc ports were always terrible, and just because they know what they are developing for doesn't mean anything. even some of those console games were POORLY optimized because of this

2:13 We (me and Jéssica) are testing to create some sort of "RoSA" for RDR1, testing to see how difficult are to recreate the textures, or if makes sense to use Megascans (which currently is free for any engine so we started using on RoSA too). We still don't know exactly, need support (people wanting this etc). Maybe lots of people are asking this now and in 1 week later nobody is playing this game anymore (I mean, people that wants to mod the game, which is a niche of the niche). Also because this game price is 20% of the Brazilian minimum wage, is expensive as fuck, but at least there is a Jack Sparrow version already.

Why would you bother with megascans and manually recreated assets, just extract the ones from RDR2 and make a few adjustments when needed. I've been working in a GTA III megaproject for years now (in the shadows, almost no one knows), but the base of it all is the mobile textures from LCS and the models from the Xbox HD mod, I think it's perfectly ok to take some shortcuts as long as they don't affect the quality of the final product.

If you get the Jack Sparrow version instead of waiting for Steam sales, then you can't complain when pubblishers use Denuvo or other heavy DRMs. Christmas Steam sales are just around the corner.

Didn't you understand the "20% the minimum Brazilian wage" part? the game IS overpriced, it's just a port of a 14 years old game and asking 50$ dollars for it is disgusting considering that max Payne 3 (Which is also an amazing game) cost 19 dollars and in sale it drops to 4!! Meanwhile red dead 1 it's probably not even gonna drop bellow 30$ and for us south americans that's still a lot of money that we need to use for more important stuff like rent or food. Also, we don't complain about denuvo because we want free games, we complain because it's invasive and it's fucking trash. Taking like 10-15 fps less in my games just slow pirates some weeks is not something that I would pay for

There is already a texture improvement and more on it’s way. Modders made it for switch emulation a while back, but they stopped working on the switch version and said they will be fully focused on the PC port. They said first version will release in a few days 🙌🏽

On PS4-5,the correct way is to compare this to games of the year it came out-2 years after and before this came out from other games and in the PS2 era. So no this doesn’t look dated at all,and everybody who said this looks bad will look very foolish once the texture mods are out,I’ll play this next year or whenever the final version of those are out

I'm really excited for the graphics mods. A high res texture mod combined with a vegetation overhaul (perhaps backporting RDR2 vegetation if that's doable) will make this game look unbelievably good. Also, I had no idea this game even had canoes, much less that they were technically vehicles.

rdr2 texture overhaul would go stupid. Probably would take a ridiculously long time to figure out and then transfer over, but man, it’s be sick. That, or John’s RDR2 (the modded one fans made) model just for high quality. Ooh, or an arthur skin on an outfit. All would be insane.

A mod to improve the audio quality is a must, they compressed it to fit it in a disk from the 20XX era consoles, the voices would improve significantly.

Hell, we should have a mod that completely overhauls the sound design. RDR1 has the worst sound design out of any HD Rockstar Game and this is coming from someone who loves the game and has 100% it at least three times.

@@lukabrasi001 When I mean sound design, I don't mean the tracks or sound effects themselves as they're absolutely top notch, I mean how they're implemented and how compressed they are. Sometimes the music is so loud that you can barely hear anything else. The voice audio is absolutely terrible especially during gameplay, even for its time it was bad, GTA 4 a game which came out 2 years prior to RDR1 had FAR better voice audio than RDR1. And don't even get me started on how compressed everything sounds, I don't know if it was a delibrate design decision to make it resemble an old west film from the 50s & 60s but even if it did, it's still really poorly implemented considering it doesn't fit with the games visuals.

The modding scene is about to strive, a tone of work has been done with RDR2 (some ported from GTA V) and a tone more is about to be done thanks to all the assets and ressourses this port brought with him. Just gotta wait for openiv to get updated (if not already). Will we finally get working horse riding in GTA V ? We have both the game before and after it to understand why they didn't include them in GTA V (although present in some trailers)

I'm just waiting on proper modded in new weapons (i.e ones that don't replace any of the old ones) like adding the Winchester M1887 Shotgun (aka Repeater Shotgun in RDR2 and "That Terminator 2 Shotgun") and maybe even the Cei-Rigotti (an Italian Semi-Auto rifle that came about in the mid-1890s and even sold abroad... even if it kind of failed) The M1911 replacing the High Power Pistol (based on the Browning M1903) would also be a good one too.

I only wish if Rockstar don't fix it, the modders will fix the Limited gamma of the colors, the game has horrible banding on PC and all the other new console versions. The night sky in the xbox 360 is black and nice and in these new versions it's brown/grey plus the visible banding which isn't on 360.This new version is like having your screen filled with smoke because of the lack of solid black colors.

@weplo1597 No, you can somewhat improve on it by tinkering with the contrast, brightness amd saturation but this won't do much. The original Xbox 360 and PS3 versions were running with the so called "expanded gamma" option where blacks were deep blacks and whites are really white. This new version is on the "limited gamma" where colors are coded to no reach such values, therefore colors are limited. This is something from the old times where some TVs simply couldn't display as many colors and is not needed nowadays.

Yeah I was actually shocked to see how well this game performs on PC. After hearing all kinds of rumors about how this game's code was a complete mess and remembering how it barely even ran 30fps on the PS3, I couldn't believe how well it now runs even on my decade old PC. I also can't wait for more mods to come out, hopefully some that actually add things instead of just tiny graphical improvements. I really want drivable cars to spawn naturally without a trainer in Blackwater for example, and more guns and animals would be great too. So far not much has come out, but maybe that's normal for this time period?
