Also, the fact that John literally paused Sherlock to go for the door because of Mary, is imo a lovely metaphor for the pause in John and Sherlock 's relationship (read romance) given the introduction of the romantic false lead in the plot. This looks to me exactly like the (totally unnecessary) 'pausing' of the train car bomb in the episode next to this. And also reminds me of TRF, when John wants to reach for Sherlock's wrist to take his pulse after the fall, but his hand is snatched away from Sherlock's by a woman's hand, wearing a wrist watch and even a frigging ring, like, how blatant is that for some nice foreshadowing of what Mary's purpose in the show gonna be?? Did I say I love this show? Thumbs up again for another awesome episode, Rebekah! :)

the minisode is so hard to watch.. john's heartbreak and grief are so evident and painful to observe.. and just to think he had to feel like that for 2 whole years. i'm pretty sure he would've never been truly himself or truly happy again if sherlock hadn't come back. if that's not true love then I don't know what is.

Bet Sherlock planned the whole thing in advance, including the pause then "okay" moment, just to hopefully drive home the message. No evidence of course, and it might be giving him too much credit. But that whole video was coded, and everything felt planned; the downplay of the smile and wink, the show of resisting making the video, the careful planning of the little stories and the smile and wink at the end. This is what the whole thing is about and leading up to, this is the point; the heartbreaking moments, the image and the memories, the vague connection point and the desperation in John.

Watching MHR always makes me wonder if Moftiss really didn't care to research how the German legal system works or if it was a deliberate choice to have the jury and to have it set in Germany. Haven't yet made my mind up about that, though.

I don't know for who; Mary hadn't been introduced yet, but she was certainly in the picture, so maybe. She's the closest, and the Mary/Moriarty mirror is false, so probably not him. But the Mrs. Hudson/John mirror wasn't around yet either, so unless foreshadowing...?

Actually, the setup always reminds me of "12 Angry Men" which is all about a jury that are almost wholeheartedly convinced of the accused's guilt, while one of them deems them innocent. The whole plot is having them juggle more or less convincing arguments until it is the absolute opposite: 11 for innocent, 1 for guilty. That story plays in the US. The only reason I see for them bringing it to Germany, is so that they can show Sherlock working his way back home.. which seems quite lazy to me, but who knows, maybe there's some aspects that I'm overlooking that would help me see the cunning in it. Never really paid much attention to MHR because I only joined the fun when series 3 had just aired.

Yeah I guess, but they could have just set the story in a different middle european country? A quick wikipedia search told me that France, Belgium and Austria use varying sorts of jury systems similar to the anglo saxon model. It just seems really lazy and ignorant?

Yeah, that's why I think that there must have been other reasons to setting it up in Germany. Mofftiss make so many deliberate, subtle choices, that this just wouldn't fit to their record..

Your spoiling. Three video's with in a week (around about), loved the episode can't wait for the next episode. I believed in Johnlock long before I watched these video's but now that I've seen it. There are somethings that once you know about them or they have been shown to you, you can never unsee them. As I found out on Sunday while watching Sherlock with my Best friend and her boyfriend who I had invited over for dinner :)

watching this video with so much information about season 4, I keep noticing patterns; you mention the six napoleons, the story the six thatchers comes from the newspapers can't be trusted? how was the name of john and mary's baby announced? (hint, a newspaper) also, i think this one's more minor, don't trust media; s4 promo videos (in which sherlock and john are crying???) are literally being made to look like tweets and then posted on various social media 💁🏻‍♂️ more on this story as it develops [finger guns]

Yep. Very obvious John isn't grieving for Sherlock as he would if Sherlock was just a friend to him. He's feeling a much more intense loss. Note he's going out for birthday cake -- at his suggestion ---within months of Mary passing, but he's locked himself away after he thinks Sherlock is dead *for years* demonstrating self destructive habits in order to help him try to cope with the loss.

I'm making my way through this series for the first time as someone who'd never heard of the tjlc reasing before and I was wondering what your top 5 episodes are. considering the fact that you probably don't read comments anymore I'm not expecting an answer so instead I will be fitting and leave a deduction. if you do happen to read comments let me know how far off/close I am. Number 5: 4x1 pretty self-explanatory. mary is the biggest obstacle in the way of tjlc and in this one she dies, so now its just them again. Number 4: 4x2 john and sherlock hug in this one which is the closest physical intimacy they get in the series, supporting this reading. also, again, mary is shown in a negative light as her message caused sherlock to almost die Number 3: 2x3 I think this is most people's favourite episodes and fair enough it is that good. the ending is heartbreaking and the episode thrilling Number 2: 1x3 iirc in your video you said this was your favourite but I put it at number 2 because i think the first episode supports your reading the most Number 1: 1x1 this episode is by far the most explicit in the romantic direction and it feels like each subsequent episode after it drifts further and further away from that message. and while I'm on about this I may as well predict a bottom 5 list too. Number 5: 2x1 this ones pretty cut and dry, sherlock gets himself a girlfriend although that being said there is that scene where irene adler hints at john watson maybe having feelings sherlock Number 4: 4x3 the final episode of sherlock is one that even hardcore fans like yourself would probably admit is a bit underwhelming. it lacks logic, thematic congruity and honestly a basic grounding in reality but it does have a few neat moments and successful dramatic emotional beats. eurus holmes kind of makes no sense with her mind control superpowers and making fun of a secret twin before revealing an actual secret sibling was a very silly move on the creatives part. I'm not saying I would've loved it but I would've been fine with a secret twin of Moriarty over what we got, regardless of the logic behind that or whatever. in many ways 3x4 would've been a better end for the series with Sherlock and Moriaty beside the waterfall with John coming in to save the day Number 2: 3x1 again this one feels self-explanatory, mary is introduced as john's to-be wife. I actually quite like the character of mary but I can understand from a shippers point of view how she might ruin the show. And Number 1: 3x2 John Watson's marriage. the main piece of evidence against tjlc. Up to this point it seems believable and honestly if s3 didn't exist I'd think it'd be very likely but that episode doesn't throw a spanner in the works. either way this is a very enjoyable series and I'll continue to make my way through it even if the channel is now inactive, apologies for long comment lol
