Tkachuk could have gotten a major in the first when he head-hunted Ljligren. We've seen Maurice's tactics MANY times. It puts pressure on the officials to actually do their job, meaning the Panthers will get many more penalties than the opposition because frankly, they deserve them and DARE the officials to call them.
