A trick I learned from the mechanic that delivered my rotary cutter, is to use an allen wrench to set the slip clutch spacing. If you need 4mm, just grab that size allen wrench and use that as your feeler gauge.

Good video, it’s a good reminder about keeping up maintenance. Don’t listen to what they’re saying about other brands of impacts, stick with Dewalt and get the newer 20 volt max, I have it and works great, very impressed.

Oh I'm definitely sticking with dewalt, I already have all the batteries and those tools have treated me very well for decades. No point in switching brands what I've been using hasn't let me down once.

Tekton was one of the manufacturers of Craftsman when they were a Sears brand. One thing I would add is to clean the deck on these mowers. Here in Florida moisture finds everything, including the dirt and debris on top of the deck. Once it gets moist it stays moist, which starts rotting the metal. Running heavy duties, we've sent rocks and logs through the deck into the tractor a few times on many different decks, and had to patch everyone we've ever owned.

Thank you for this very informative video. I have a 2060 Frontier with the floating bar and will definitely pay attention tomorrow as to it’s position. I too, remove the blades to sharpen them while it takes a few minutes extra, I find I get a much better edge instead of crawling under the deck. Thanks again!

Somethin else super important for maintenance on equipment is painting. Any welds, surfaces, or cavities where moisture can settle, basically anything that isn't a wear surface needs to be touched up if you see the paint getting thin or rusty spots forming. especially after you make semi-permanent adjustments like how you adjusted the hight of that trailing wheel arm, id give it a shot of paint where it used to sit since now thats most likely just bare metal.

I figured you did, as you seemed to be very competent and knowledgeable. I was just feeling sorry for you having to use wrenches to remove those blade bolts.😀 I've never seen bush mowers that permitted blade removals from the top. That would have made my lif a lot easier, and I would have sharpened the blades a lot more often.@@TKCL

In my experience the blade bolts and nuts can be almost or impossible to remove. They can also be extremely difficult to install. Some blame a condition called 'Galling' which is when the nuts (particularly lock nuts) actually weld onto the bolt due to friction. Impact wrenches can exacerbated the problem. Anti seize is a must. Check it out..

Question: I have the RC2060 and was wondering if it's safe (or smart) to use the cutter with the curved rear plate removed (as you have it at the end of your excellent video) This seems like it would allow cut grass to more cleanly exit the blade box. This would be an advantage when I'm collecting the cuttings to make compost in large quantities. Thanks

It's there for safety reasons, but we removed the chain guards because they were affecting how the material is distributed.

You change enough of those blades and you'll be investing a nice impact wrench very soon. ;) I've had some of those bolts so seized that literally hanging off the large cheater pipe and hitting it with a torch wouldn't break them loose. But a 3/4" cordless impact wrench made short work out of them.
