@Anne Liesveld The coupons are put out by the manufacturers, and when you use a coupon in a grocery store, the manufacturer reimburses the grocery stores for the coupons. However, stores that give "double" the face value if a coupon only get reimbursed for the face value and not the doubled amount. Product manufacturers put out coupons as a form of advertising, as well as, a way to get someone to try their product for the first time with hopes they will continue buying it in the future. The Extreme Couponers are definitely not manufacturers' target audience with coupons
@amixeblu

Example: At a GW store Mid-age lady comes up to customer service Karen- I’m looking for a 300% dishwasher soap , I can’t seem to find it. Worker- oh, we ran out that 2 days ago Karen - can you check the back? Worker(thinking)- oh No Worker-fine Goes to the back 5min, comes back Karen - was it over there? Worker- no, it wasn’t Karen- what!, I heard you had some, did you even look? Worker- ma’... Karen- can I speak to your manager (under breath- Liar) Manager- how can I help you Karen- yes, this dumb fool of a employee is saying there no more, I don’t even believe he checked the back! Manager- now calm down, what are you looking for? Karen 300% dishwasher Manager- I’m sorry we ran out of that Karen throws a fit , and rag on. The manager tried to calm her down finally giving her a gift card to stop her blasphemy and shenanigans

@@danijela_b82 There is a limit for coupons per customer, per visit. Usually there is a limit on how much you can buy per item as well. The cashier will have to get the manager to override limits. They usually do not override limits though. You could make multiple trips. Honestly, i clipped coupons for a couple of years. It seems to be for the items I don't buy or saving money on buying multiple things. Like save 5 dollars on 5 tubes of namebrand toothpaste. A real money saver would be to buy what is cheap in the first place or go to a different store where everything isnt marked up ikn price. I would hit 5-7 stores biweekly with a grocery list. I do not think these shows are real. On military bases we can use coupons up to 6 months after the expiration date and the cashiers did at one point override limits. I still have never saved 90% on my groceries. People have stockpiles and sale their stockpiles for profit. In some places it is illegal to buy things with coupons and resale them. I wouldnt be surprised if this is what the people in the show were doing.

@@OncleJer Not all extreme couponing take so much time. It gets pretty simple when you've been doing it for a while. If you're doing a lot of deals which she does there a different story. As a h.s student I wouldn't have the time or patient to be doing that much deals. And yeah you're right you CAN get a lot of items for free or cheap if you want but it's a choice whether or not to buy it. I Personally I buy what I need unless it a moneymaker or cheap then I typically sell it on FB marketplace for half the store price. Yes its silly to buy things you dont need but I have a plan for everything I purchase and not leaving it for display .

Good for Jessica for actually using the products she buys in bulk. Many couponers buy crap they don't even use. The smart ones sell those items online to make money. Buy hey, if you have the time and organizational skills and are actually going to use what you buy, go for it. My understanding is that extreme couponing can take anywhere from 8-10 hours a day to do (counting the trips to the stores). That's literally a full time job. It's not for everyone and obviously every state and every store has different rules about using coupons. I don't think I can do this where I live. First of all, I wouldn't even obtain that many inserts and printables. Also, extreme couponing involves buying mostly non-perishable foods in bulk. I mean you can't buy 120 bananas or 37 bunches of broccoli, obviously they'll go bad. Canned and dry or heat 'n eat type foods aren't very healthy. Just my opinion, I'm not criticizing anyone's choices.

Alot really do. They get so much and once or twice a year make a big donation. But to keep from getting the "big head" comments they would rather just not say anything about it. I know in my area, people know to call my house if they know anyone in need. I don't coupon or anything like these ladies but we have a farm and I volunteer at a food bank. I can help with what I can share from our own household and direct them to the food pantry once a month.

Wow, so many mean people on here. I hope you know this episode is nearly 10 yrs old and you really cant coupon like this anymore. She started couponing when we were going thru a recession. She found away to take care of her family. There's nothing wrong with that. Unfortunately this show got way out of hand and it ruined a lot of couponing for others. Don't get me wrong you can still coupon here but the show made it harder to coupon on a larger scale. They had some all star episodes and some were buying coupons that were counterfeit.

Yes! After these shows were aired and the secret was out the stores changed their coupon policy. Now, the customer is limited to a certain number of coupons per person/per transaction/per day. The coupons have also changed with shorter expiration time, lower coupon value and buy 2 or 3 of the item to get the coupon discount. This show basically ruined the potential for couponing to get free food.

There was a controversy surrounding this show for that reason, IIRC. A lot of stores were basically allowing the couponers to do things that aren't typically allowed, for the sake of the show, like combine coupons.

@@AEpsalm Yes, you can get *some* stuff. Like, I just saw a deal for body wash that was normally $2.99 that you could get for 24 cents at Rite-Aid, by combining a $2.00 off coupon in a weekly ad with a 75 cents off manufacturers' coupon. But the key is, that $2.00 off coupon is limit of one per customer. So, while you can get like 92% off, it's not for a stockpile worth of it.
