Well it is. So the kids compete in their own age category with appropriate scoring. How you judge the 0-3 year olds is different to how you judge say 4-5 year olds or 6-7 year olds or over 18s. They award prizes for the winners of each division. The final overall prize is for the highest overall score, bearing in mind that the older kids were judged far more harshly so the scores are weighted.

Ruby Tavera the child should still be encouraged and praised while being told what she needs to do better. For example: “that was great but you need to work on that one part just a little more. That’s emotionally and mentally damaging to them and can cause lasting mental issues.

I agree with Ruby. What you people don't understand is that there is a difference between feeling worthless from being put down and just being the type of person that can't take constructive criticism. To be fair being a coach for a pageant and a family member should not be an option. That aside, the sister was just doing her job as a coach. If that little girl wanted to win and get far in this, she should suck it up. Also, criticism from family hits different than criticism from a coach/judge. And look at the way she was acting when she was getting all done up, it is clear that it isn't for her. I know it isn't for me because 1. I am ugly as shit and 2. the two times I've gotten my hair done, I wanted to bitch slap someone and I'm grown. Take Dance Moms as an example. The little girl that people either loved or hated worked like a bitch to get her routines perfect. She was her worst critic. As for coaching, depending on the kid, some need that tough love. Although I didn't get far in watching the show because I wanted to uppercut that dance teacher sometimes. She was too extra 90% of the time.

Girls only compete against other girls in their own age group. They’re not having the 20 yr old stand up with the 5 yr and comparing them to each other. What they do is, after the pageant is over, they go through the scores to see who had the highest score overall in the whole pageant. That person is supreme.

All y'all saying that it isn't fair that a 20 year old was competing with 6 year olds clearly don't know how pageants work😂 some pageants have an ultimate grand supreme over all age categories. The 20 year old was in her own age category, and at this particular pageant they said the ultimate could go to any age. The categories go from 0-20 with the ages sectioned off. The 20 year old wasn't actually competing against the 6 year olds, she was competing against the 16-20 year olds or whatever the age category was, and she happened to win the overall.

I don’t understand why kids cry over losing, it’s no big deal, you should only cry when you are hurt physically or when someone died. They should not be crying because they put in “hard work” all they did was walk and when she was told that she needed to it properly she started crying? All she needed to do was run back on her toes, that is so easy. So really it’s easy fun, and if you don’t win it’s not a big deal!

@@xX_Ghostie.Girl_Xx Indeed she is not. I've judged these pageants all over the United States for ten years. The supreme divisions are "divisions" for a reason -- so that the contestants in each division are competing only against those contestants in their own supreme breakdown. The supreme division is not "all ages" or it wouldn't be a "division." There are typically 3 to 4 supreme divisions at a large event: 0-3 years; 4-7 years; 8-12 years; and 13 and Up. But this varies from system to system. But contrary to what you are saying, a supreme division does not include all ages. It includes contestants in an age bracket which has been determined by the particular director. Before commenting, take a few moments to learn general pageant circuit guidelines and supreme division breakdowns. These guidelines are key to how contestants compete and the titles which are awarded.
