I managed to stay on track with my first temperature blanket last year & finished it right on time on NYE. I loved it but definitely don't have the capacity for it this year. Instead, I'll be using the same idea to make a tapestry that tracks my running mileage for the year! Just like with the temp blanket, I have colors picked out by run length from 1 mile - 13 miles. I'm really excited to see my distance grow over the course of the year

You are beautiful! This is my first time watching you, and I feel inspired. ❤ Thank you for the joy you share - it is contagious. I will be back. My story: I started knitting when I was about 5, sewing on a sewing machine when I was about 8, crocheting when I was 10, cross-stitching when I was 30, hardanger when I was 40, and machine embroidery when I was 55. I enjoy all of these crafts but knitting remains my absolute favorite. It just soothes my soul. I remember the day when I read Psalm 139:13 where God's word says, "He (God) knit me together in my mother's womb for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." 😊 Keep up the great ministry you are doing, and may God bless you abundantly. 😇 Your sister in Christ, Phyllis

2023 was shaping up to be a year I finished NOTHING. We moved house, my daughter was in her senior year (Australia’s school year is a calendar year), and my crojo was gone. Then, in about October, I felt the urge to create, and dug out my Persian Tiles blanket from years ago. Still in shock I managed to finish it, including the biggest border I’ve ever done! I also did my first chenille amigurumi, an otter, where I learnt that choosing dark colours for chenille yarn is not the best beginner move 😂 2024 I have two goals. A mosaic crochet blanket to use up Hobbii Twisters I’ve had for many years, and finish a garment for my teenager before crochet isn’t ’cool’ anymore 😂

As I was sitting here watching your video, I was trying on the very beginning of my first pull over sweater. I'm taking two patterns and combining them to make something I really love. I wanted a v neck sweater, which seems not as popular as crew neck, and I also wanted a v design rather than a horizontal design. I also wanted something more than just every row being DC, sc etc. so I'm combining a raglan crew neck design with I Need It Crochet Sum Of It's Parts Pullover. Who knows how this will turn out, freehanding my first pullover 😂 but you do what you gotta do when you can't find a pattern that matches your vision! Thanks Toni, love you ❤

Well…we went out and brought some yarn, crochet needles etc.. We lerned together to make few hats & hand warmers as gifts! So much fun & a beautiful memory. Talk about feeling inspired! As someone who has been cooking since before I can remember that is so super helpful as a beginner in crochet. For cooking, I read a recipe and use it as a guideline to make something. My mother always hated that I could do that; she always had to follow the recipe. Now that I am coming back to crochet after my grandmother taught me the basics, I will look at it the same way. Although, I will probably follow patterns until I am comfortable with the options and then move to making my own.
@TLYarnCraftsАй бұрын
A well written pattern will never fail you, but creatives like us need to have the space to go off script. Have fun with it, make your alterations, and it'll keep the craft fresh for you!

Go for that dress!! As a large size woman myself, I understand not being comfortable with crochet garments. But I made myself a little red number for a banquet that was awesome (if I do say so myself). It was supposed to be an empire waisted tunic, but a few extra rows, and she became a dress. Give yourself plenty of time (unlike me), and it'll be as awesome as everything else you create.

Excited to see what you do in 2024! It sounds like you're already planning to do the video I most would like to see - how to make a project fit an actual person's body. I got Cardigans for Every Body (I think at your recommendation actually) and while it's great, I've discovered I learn much better from videos than books. I have a body with unusual propotions so most patterns aren't quite right but I'm not sure how to fix that. And a long shot since making a dress is on your "to try" list and might not be something you want to film, but I would LOVE if you came out with a dress video on the process of making a dress and making it fit. Most of the crochet dress patterns I see seem to assume only young skinny people who want to show tons of skin will be wearing them and that's... Not me.

I am making a year long mood blanket, like a temperature blanket, only we do it by the week, and our mood dictates the stitches we use. There are 4 designs to choose from, a blanket that is row by row, a granny square blanket, those are both by Cosy Rosy UK and 2 shawls one in a triangle and one in a rectangle, both designed by Bernadine from Me 'n' My Hook. I think I decided to do the rectangle shawl. They are both hosting this year long project and when I saw their videos drop, it just spoke to me. Even my husband was interested, although he sounded a bit disheartened when I mentioned doing one of the shawls over the blanket. Maybe I'll be printing out another copy of the mood tracker for him, then I'll end up with 2 very different blankets this year. Lol Toni- you are, and always have been one of my top 5 favorite designers. For sure my number 1 when it comes to Tunisian crochet! Even if I have to slow you down and rewind 10 times for some parts 🤣🤣🤣 (jk). I love just about everything you have ever had come off your hook! I bought Sewrella's Autumn Mini Sock Set just so I could FINALLY make your juniper cowl. I have been in love with that pattern since you first released it. I didn't have the money at the time to buy a set of coordinating minis to make it and the minis I did have just wouldn't have looked right, some were sport weight, some were fingering, some were DK and even have a few worsted in there. (Mystery bundles.) I admit, I have a problem. I am completely and utterly addicted to minis. And I am totally okay with that. 😂😂😂

I only have one year crochet experience and you've inspired me to try a sweater or two or three. I'm starting with a sunflower granny square cardigan with a burgundy background in merino wool. I'm the meantime I'm working on a lightweight cotton cuff to add to a pair of cropped jeans. If they're done for the cruise, great! If not, I'll wear something else. I think that Misha sweater might be my next project. I really appreciate your talking about fit with sweaters. I'm starting to look at patterns as suggestions and ideas as I can never get a good fit if I follow a pattern completely. I'd love to learn more about this. I am a plus size woman but not very booby, heavy upper arms but short arms over all so I always have to make adjustments. The best thing I've done so far is keep a sheet close by of all my measurements and then another column of the measurements with ease added in.

Toni, you are who I found when I picked up my hook again. Since then I have been inspired to create so much more than I thought I would. I too am embarking on the dress journey. I believe because I also sew, wearables are more of a comfort zone. Someplace in my mind I have chosen to believe this. Anywho, I have to wear white/winter white church on 1st Sunday, sooooo the Gemini in me burst through my thoughts and said hey, look at some ideas and come up with one. Now because I am a Gemini, my mind did not rest on just the dress but I watched a tutorial of Crystal on Bag O Day as she created this cape, and I thought, hmmmm wouldn't that be amazing in an off white. Needless to say, in the meantime I have had requests for hats and sweaters, a throw and grand children's wish- list. So I have a WIP bag of stuff, I work 4 projects a week, so there's no getting bored. I am wrapping up hats and scarves and a sweater now. I figure I will have my dress ready for next winter. I've already curated the yarn. I have a bath & body line. Crocheting allows me to gather thoughts and ideas, and work out stress. It sounds like a lot as I'm typing this out, but it keeps my hands busy and slows my mind when necessary. I had to go to the mechanic, and I was able to work while there. This is something I can pick up and put down. Unlike formulating, which takes more concentration and precision. If crocheting allows me to calm down. Thanks for being a voice, an inspiration and teacher. Tunisian crochet rocks, hard!!

I have to agree with Melody. The cadence and tone of voice you use for your tutorials reminds me of a yoga teacher. It makes learning new stitch patterns and techniques a relaxing experience! As someone who lives in south Texas, there is a short time period in which it is comfortable to work with wool and acrylic yarns. I want to start experimenting with plant-based yarns outside of the usual amigurumi and household items.. It's going to be fun to experiment with the drape and stretch of different fibers to create garments and blankets.

A lovely look back over your year Toni. I have loved pushing my crochet in 2023 after learnign Tunisian crochet towards the end of 2022. I made a hexie cardigan in 2020 which gets sooooo much wear and everyone at work (I'm a teacher) loves it too as it makes me so happy. I have a temperature blanket from 2018-2019 which still has 4 months of crochet to complete but as you mentioned the size of it is ginormous and totally unmanageable in summer months. Maybe this year I'll actually finish it as it was the year leading up to my wedding and therefore has special meaning to me too. My aim this year is most definitely to make more garments as I have spent such a long time working on shawls, blankets and toys that my wardrobe needs a good looking at. This year I actually made the 'Good Vibrations' dress from The Missing Yarn which I absolutely love and it was such a breeze as it's made in granny stripe. I too was worried about making a dress to work with my curves but I ended up making it in Cotton DK instead of the recommended yarn and just made the starting chain long enough that it would give me some shape whilst also fitting the circumference of my body. Good luck with your quests for 2024, I look forward to seeing more and I'll most definitely be adding some of your Tunisian patterns to my Ravelry library too 😉

In regards to new videos, I would desperately love a tutorial about the various ways to increase and decrease in Tunisian crochet, and what kind of increase/decrease method is best in whatever application/situation, especially when the stitches being done aren't just Simple Stitch. I am a visual learner and I just haven't been able to really understand these techniques. I feel my lack of understanding is holding me back from making garments and more tailored items.

I would like to see more Tunisian crochet wearables. I made a cotton Tunisian crochet top using my own imagination for the pattern. It isn’t perfect but I learned a lot. I am planning a historical temperature blanket using high temps for my birthdays based on the location I lived on that birthday. I have several other projects running thru my mind and I also am planning on attending my first fiber festival in the spring!! Even my 14 year old granddaughter wants to go with me since she is getting obsessed with crochet! Thank you Toni for being an inspiration and mentor !!

Toni - I don't know how I found you because I have never crocheted in my life. But I watch all of your videos from start to finish. That being said, I finally bought a skein of yarn and a hook and am about to start actually learning to crochet! Thank you for your inspiration!

Oh my goodness, beautiful lady! I just love your energy - you continue to inspire me to try new things. Thank you, for that. So this year I AM going to make my first sweater and it’s gonna be for ME! Most of everything that I have made in the 2 years I’ve been crocheting, I have gifted to loved ones. Their appreciation and awe of my work also keeps motivating me to do more and more. I’m also FINALLY gonna try Tunisian crochet. I have your book and the clover bamboo hooks so I’m ready!!!

I am making my first temperature blanket, using 9 colors. It’s January 8 and so far, all of the high temps meant taupe. 😂 I’m ready to use a different color. Bring on warmer or colder weather!

so excited to hear that you're working on something about personalizing our projects!! i'm a plus size creator and i have also struggled with hexagon cardigans. i haven't made any successful wearables for myself but as i'm getting more confident in crochet i really want to be able to freeform/customize more. i'm about to attempt my first one other than the failed hexagon cardi with your camaro crop top!!!

You inspire me to do more than dabble in crochet! All your makes are so beautiful. 😊

I'm working on a variation of temperature blanket this yeah: reading scarf! Each book will be 5 rows, and the colour dependent on genre. I started crocheting about a month ago so I'm not yet super comfortable doing big projects; the one i finished (the only one yet) is a doily made of one big granny square. I'm still learning my stitches but I'm making amazing progress!

In 2024, I am focusing on working down my stash and my pile of WIPs, and one of my stash-down projects is a temperature blanket. For this year’s blanket, I decided to go from my birthday in 2023 to my birthday in 2024 using the high temperature for each day. This will allow me to “work ahead” while it’s cold and not feel so stressed when the summer “blanket-avoidance” comes.

I noticed recently that I have been focused way too much on making things for other people (mostly blankets, they're my favorite thing to make), but I really wanna focus on making myself something this year. Maybe like an oversized blanket or even a throw for my office chair this year. It was awesome seeing all of the things that you made this past year, and it's given me the inspiration to just do that; make something for ME. I love your stuff, hope you have a good year!

I agree with you. Wearables and accessories are my goals this year. I have 2 hexagon sweaters that I’m currently working. If you come up with a better pattern, I’d love it. There is something wonky about those darn sleeves. 😂 I watch your channel for inspiration. Thank you so very much., Toni. You are a diamond!

I picked up yarn I have had for many years...Mt Mohair from Green Mountain Spinnery and am knitting a Felix sweater. This is the year of the stash for me. I don't need any more projects! I have so many kitted up!

@@TLYarnCraftsSo appreciate you being transparent about what's going on with the restock! There are a bunch of us eagerly awaiting it, so while it's a bummer you and Hobbii have run into issues, it's nice to know what's up.

i LOVE the Open Book Wrap!!! I made it with my purchases of Happy Place and I love it so much. I think I may need to re-block it (I did a very quick steam block) but it is gorgeous, and one of my top things I've made. It was so easy, while still looking like I did something much more complex. I wanna make it again, but in Halloween colors.

It would be lovely to see that and take some ideas! I realized that most of my projects at 2023 was in tunisian simple stitch, unintentional choice I've made that disappointed me, so this year my goal is more diversity.

Don't be. There's nothing wrong with sticking with a stitch you like. 😊 At least you got plenty of practice perfecting that stitch: better to master one stitch than do five shoddily. 🙂
@TLYarnCrafts Жыл бұрын
There's nothing wrong with that! Simple stitch is gorgeous and so fun to do. I'm excited to see what you get into this year :-)
@alekfelis Жыл бұрын
@@oakstrong1 😄 You're so kind! Nice try to present it as persistence, but it's not so difficult that to require practise. Repeating is more likely sign of laziness and lack of imagination.

@@TLYarnCrafts Thank you, Toni! You have so many gorgeous patterns we to choose from, I'm very excited for the CAL! 🥰 Also the dress you'll gonna make sounds so ambitious I can't wait to see it! I have on my quire onesie to make, but don't know if I'll find enough time.
