I love how pat mac cares so much about being physically prepared. Too many gun guys are all about the shooting n being tactical but are completely physically unfit. Just having the appearance of hard to fight or kill is a good deterrent for bad guys
@gunchief08115 жыл бұрын
20+ years in Delta will do that.
@goose335 жыл бұрын
EXACTLY. And the physically prepared part directly ties in with the tactics. I grew up in a bball family. We are all giants but its the same fundamentals in bball as almost everything. Take 2 guys. One is a better shooter by a little than the other guy but the other guy is more physically fit. Once you start getting tired your shot is effected BADLY. So the mediocre shooter that is more physically fit will win almost everytime in a game. Now a quick shootout would be different. But you guys get what im saying

@@goose33 I can teach someone who is physically fit but with very little or no shooting experience how to become extremely deadly with firearms in a flowing, unpredictable set of circumstances over the course of a week. A course like that will just reinforce to them every minute that they are out of shape.

To give you an idea....I’ve never, ever. EVER, had a gun in my hand for longer than 10 seconds in the 25 years I’ve been alive. Hey Pat, might be because you were teaching and I can't see the context of the video, but having head/airway angled towards the ground more while keeping chin lifted in the recovery position is better for keeping airway patent. Also, tucking the hand under the head to have PT's arm form a triangle makes two braces instead of one, keeping PT more stable, and allowing to angle the head more towards the ground. Might be good to turn him by grabbing both the scapula and the pelvis too, especially in potential spinal PTs.

McNamara, that bit about human beings being unable to multitasks belongs in the truth of the truths category. You’re the only person I’ve heard affirm this fact of life since I learned it myself years back. Currently I spend my days in a comm Center dispatching for LE, and for some reason everyone and their mother thinks they’re the worlds best “multi tasker.” Do most human beings really believe they can multi task, or do most know they’re lying to themselves? The majority of people I’ve seen who’ve been told this fact, speaking about our inability to act out multiple tasks simultaneously, fail to believe it and continue to believe they’re able to do so. Yo Pat +1 on the security vest. I’m LE and have been to active shooter workshops where the biggest point of contention at a debrief is blue on blue. Its been a problem at actual incidents as well which is expected i guess as it still exists in combat. In any case, alot of the blue on blue occurs from LE who are not well “labeled” like guys who are plainclothes detectives who show up and throw on a vest...and look like an active shooter. Your sentiments of “giving a rookie cop a second of pause” are spot the fuck on. Not to shit on the rookie cop, but when pulses are up, confusion is level 10, and the new guy sees somebody with a gun...people make mistakes.
