Tekken 3 is a phenomenal game. A lot of people got into Tekken because of that title despite never hearing about 1 or 2. Everyone either had that game, knew someone who had it, or played the demo, even though it only had Eddy and Xiaoyu because that game was so awesome. When someone says "Tekken" many think of Tekken 3. The style that that game oozes with is simply unmatched; that intro, that powerful sound effect when you select an option from the menu, that character select screen where you are going down some weird metal construction, the fun as hell tekken force mode and tekken ball mode, and of course... THE SOUNDTRACK! Easily the best soundtrack out of all Tekken games. Hell, I'm ready to say that Tekken 3 has the best soundtrack period. Sure, when it comes to balancing, a lot of other Tekken titles did it better, but in pretty much everything else Tekken 3 is still superior. It was such a huge leap in terms of overall quality and amount of content, too. It introduced a lot of new characters that has since been considered iconic and without which the series would never be as loved as it is now. Tekken 3 deserves to be AT LEAST A-tier.

A strong argument can be made that Tekken 3 is the greatest in the series. There was never a bigger leap in the series than the leap between 2 and 3. Everybody and their sister had Tekken 3 on Playstation.

Tekken 4 having interactive stages, being able to move before the round begins, animations for the intro’s/outro’s and the story behind every character will forever be my favorite for nostalgia’s sake and the greatest hype I’ve ever had for a Tekken game to be released, so many great memories with Tekken 4!!! Tekken 7 is the 1st fighting game I actually took seriously, learned about juggles, punishment, frame data and fundamentals so I HAVE to put it as my #1 Tekken game of all time!!! For all that it’s done for me with winning online and offline tournaments, traveling to different countries to enter, watch and meet my favorite and other professional Tekken players in tournaments is something that will forever stick with me and made me the player I am today.

Bounds and screws are the best thing to happen to Tekken and is essentially what made T7 so successful. The addition of those gameplay mechanics are extremely underappreciated.

But then they came up with Screws, which are just bounds with corner carry, i'm still not sure why people like them better, but both are needed imo. Tekken 5 had great movement, but I need combos in my fighting games, or I get bored.

T3 and T5 comparison: T3's plot with Jin entering the tournament for the 1st time was better as he's not as focused in T5 because he didn't fight with Heihachi or Kazuya T5's gameplay is almost the same but a LOT better because it has the coolest stages with soundtracks and walls. Take away some questionable changes and most of season 3’s updates were amazing, taking away geese’s braindead pressure, nerfing Steve and Jin’s braindead combo starters, and the numerous Akuma buffs by this point, they’ve been heading in the right direction, they just need to stop making the easier characters so good like they already have, which is why they’re so hesitant to give Katarina and Gigas any buffs

@@DmadPs I guess this is more personal question of character feeling. I mean I saw a lot of opinions which describe Lars as an easiest/easy character. For me it's not like that. I can't feel him and can't understand how to play with him. Same with Katarina, I swear I just can't feel these characters. On the other hand when I picked characters in training mode I did better with learning Kazuya, cause for me he's more intuitively understandable than Lars or Katarina lol. So I got your point but for me Ganryu and Zafina are fine. As for Leroy I agree on 100%. I just don't like the way that devs made him, too cheap, small movelist and not technical. 50/50 for Fahkumram, his damage is kinda big (well in T7 all characters damage can be scary), hurtboxes are weird, that throw is questionable. Should be fixed ofc but on the other hand dealing with him can be less stressful by learning match-up.

King of Iron Fist ok, let me explain it better without looking like a salt boy S1 one of the best characters dragunov( it was actually akuma but no one realized that) Dragunov was easy and good, if you compare dragunov s1 with s3 characters he doesnt look that S tier Fakuram s3 is so much better, Leroy, zafina. I wouldn’t have a problem with this cos i think dragunov is a solid character now, hes not even close to S tier cos you have no reason to crouch him, but thats another long ass story. Now... this is dragunov. Wheres the rest of the cast? Why am I forced to buy easy characters instead of being able to just use any characters, i felt like s1 and even 2 anyone could win, s3 you gotta have a top tier unless you wanna handicap yourself. Some characters got super good buffs others just suck hard, to the point you only playing them cos you dont love yourself. Why i havent seen Leo players for like 5 months? While in season 1 i could see that little trans ass beating my ass everytime? The character is not bad, but why use Leo when you have leroy? I havent seen many drags as well, or jacks. The game is a boring mess online specially, i just see stupid as easy characters that dont take much skill for the user and depends on the opponent to have knowledge of the opponent 100%, thats my problem with tekken s3, the biggest tekken problem was increased: If you dont know the other character doesnt matter how good you are, you gonna lose. Faku, ganryu, lei, noctis, zafina, negan all of them increase this problem to the max and they are new characters, so if you wanna play for fun, nah take that weak shit out of here and memorize cheap ass moves and get your ass kicked for 1month while cheesy ass mechanics kick you ass and nerfs that should have been implemented day one. Maybe im just salty, maybe I should just play Faku or Leroy since I spent money on them, or maybe the game kinda sucks now that every launcher on bullshit characters takes half your health and I cant stop playing cos im addicted to tekken... Besides "Explosive Gag" sounding like some porn nickname, I think he should redo this video with a slightly different mindset. ^^ It was clearly "unfair" to say something like "what would I rather play *today* ?" Of course it is advocating towards newer Tekken games. So he should think about what made these games good *when they came out* and judge them based on that imo. For example, T3 felt revolutionary and set the fundamentals of a proper Tekken game we know today. Tekken 5 was the prettiest, cleanest and overall most appealing the game could get (for me). On the other hand: TTT2 severely fucked up in any aspect. Also, Tekken 7, being the most balanced game to date, still seems rough around some edges.

I only agree with one thing..Tekken 5 DR is probably the best overall in the series with the characters, music and depth in gameplay. Tekken 3 is still the most iconic and if you consider or rate the games based on how good they were for their time I think Tekken 3 is probably the best. It was a major step in the right direction and gave Tekken its true identity. Tekken Tag 1 was a refined Tekken 3 that played smoother and looked nicer. I put it on the same level as Tekken 3 as far as fun and gameplay but the music wasn't as good as Tekken 3. Tekken 6 is close after Tekken 5, Tekken 3 and Tag 1. Tekken 1 & 2 had the music and nostalgia. Seeing Tekken 1 and motion captured movement in a fighting game for the first time was truly amazing. Tekken 4 was alright as an experiment but I didn't find it as good as Tekken 3 or Tag 1. Glad they went back to basics to make Tekken 5. Tekken Tag 2 I didn't get to play much but felt similar to Tekken 6 overall. Tekken 7 is probably my least favorite..lol. Too many issues because of the huge roster and dumb characters that don't even belong in the game and only add bloating. Also the added complexity to the gameplay with new mechanics like power crush, rage drives and rage arts. At the end the game just doesn't feel like Tekken anymore. It has lost big part of its identity because it's trying to appeal to too many people just to be popular and I never liked that approach. Best music I would say Tekken 2, Tekken 3 and Tekken 5.

Agreed. Tekken Tag 1 PS2 is my #1 favorite in the series. That was when Tekken was truly at it's peak/prime. During the golden era of not only the series, but in video games period. Is was tekken 3 + more. Tekken 5 & DR would be 2nd place. For me.

@@TheHistorianKing Yea technically Tag 1 is better than Tekken 3. It took Tekken 3 to perfection. Tag 1 was so smooth and the graphics were so polished and ahead of its time. I probably enjoyed Tekken 3 and Tag 1 more in general and they are more dear to me but Tekken 5 DR was also really good because it kept the core fundamentals and enhanced the depth of the gameplay with juggles and walls without over doing it like in T6 and later games. It also gave us online play which is a huge plus.

One day within my lifetime, I hope that we see the release of Tekken 44, a bold new vision for the series that doubles down on all of the unique mechanics and cool concepts that were introduced in Tekken 4. Here are some of my great ideas for stages in the game: escalator, elevator, trampoline, antigravity (you’re floating in outer space), mogul skiing, wave pool. In the elevator stage, there’s no room to move forward or backward-only sidestep-and every hit causes a wallsplat, and juggle properties change depending on whether the elevator is currently ascending or descending. Perhaps you even need to press a different floor button during your combo. In the skiing stage, if you can knock away some of your opponent’s ski equipment (for example their skis or one of their ski poles) then they will tumble down the hill and take some extra damage. The outer space level and probably also the swimming pool level will need an oxygen meter, where your character will automatically get KO’d when you run out of oxygen. The oxygen meter is always slowly depleting (except for when you’re out of the pool of course), plus doing attacks costs oxygen and getting hit takes away a lot of oxygen. I would add a Breathe button to the control scheme as well.

Oh, shower stage is a really good idea! I think it should disable costumes because nobody wears clothes in the shower in real life, and maybe the floor should be slippery as well? Not enough Tekken stages have slippery floors. An ice rink stage would be a perfect fit for Tekken.

Honestly, Tag2 with dup characters removed, add T7 new characters, keep bound system (only off wall) and tweak damage, keep RD remove RA (hate RA, one of the worst additions to Tekken mechanics), add a solid online gameplay and fix most frames/moves, that would be the best fighting game ever. On addition, would switch Maven back to Raven, Josie to Bruce (You can change movelist). T7 supposed to be less characters less damage, but it is not true. Too many characters, too much damage in S3! While some characters are totally left out with the wall carry buff. I main Xiaoyu, almost everyone got a wallcarry buff, but some left out including Xiaoyu? I know there are few more including her. Rage issue with TTT2? You see, RD is a very good mechanic while not totally balanced in terms of function and damage. Looking at a rage drive like Kazuya's or Hei's damage as combo starter, filler or ender... then looking at a RD like Leroy's (not the best example but you get my point) it is unfair. We have Mr Paul with a RA cancel that deletes your healthbar whenever in rage with no concept/execution or whatsoever. Why would Paul has that even though his moveset is exceptionally strong, with a busted df2?! Gigas should have had a RA cancel if anyone! T5 was a great great game, but def not top. There were moves that were banned in tournaments for being so busted! Looking at Steve. TTT2 takes the cake for me. Even now days, as I said, tweak that game and you get perfection. Honestly, bored of these "beginner friendly" attempts that only screw over good players... they don't even care that much to make in game in-depth tutorials! No one starting Tekken for the first time buying the frame data trying out a +8 on block move and be like "Oh yes, totally understand that. Thank you for such a big tutorial. Def helps." Then we come to changes like reducing movement and SS while some characters still keep it for some reason like Alisa, Lili, Zafina and Fahk? They are not even that weak to have such unique movement!

Tekken 6 was the best game to me. Didn’t care for the story mode. It allowed you to customize your intro, was easy to deathmatch setting it up although most used it to boost. The best character customization due to all of the options which allowed for a lot of diversity. First introduction to bound which was great. Great stages and amazing music. My favorite by far.

My favorites are Tekken 4 love stages and t4 yoshimitsu was so cool. Tekken 7 for its online, offline is 🗑 customize too. Tekken Tag 2 was really amazing for me I liked the tag combos and both online/offline and customize.

TMM often lumps Josie in with characters like Katarina, Noctis, etc. but I think that is unfair. Josie is low execution, but that doesn’t make her easy. Her lack of a traditional df1 makes her gameplay much more interesting, and her neutral ends up being very different. She has about the same amount of high crushes and low crushes as anyone else. Butterfly edge has a tendency to go over mids but it’s really the only one that you could call unfair. She has CH options so you can’t mash into her, but you can use movement and patience to beat a lot of Josie’s, as it’s hard to open players up since her high damage lows are from FC and CD and thus more react-able and she has no throw game.

Man, I respect everyone's list but Tekken 3 brought the PS1 and fighting games to another level and you can't ignore it. Fluid gameplay, lots of characters, awesome Tekken Force mode, soundtrack who slightly changes from ROUND to ROUND, the introduction of Jin Kazama, Eddy, Bryan, Ogre and other iconic characters, all the charm behind the unused code for Jun, Kazuya and cancelled characters like Insect, the big success for its Arcade version and the steps forward if compared to T1 and T2. No bugs, no glitches, funny and competitive. Basically flawless. Way ahead of its time and people talk about it nowadays too. It's easy to say T7 is better with more than 20 years of technologic progress that occurred. Tekken 3 is the definition of a classic. It's tier-less.

My top 3 Tekken games by your rules probably are Tekken Tag 2, Tekken 4 and Tekken 6. Ranking it myself, I'm gonna have to go with: S: Tag 1, Tekken 3 (because I'm extremely biased, I love the way they play, sound, look) A: Tekken 4, Tekken Dark Resurrection, Tekken 5 (these games IMO, are of the highest quality of Tekken games) B: Tekken 6, Tekken 7, Tekken Tag 2 (great games, but don't compare to the ones above) C: Tekken 2 (aged pretty badly) D: Tekken 1, Tekken 3D, Tekken Revolution (Tekken 1 to me is just a prototype, 3D is garbage and Revolution has been discontinued, but it's also garbage)

My first Tekken that I was playing during my childhood was Tekken 3, but when Tekken 4 release, it was like a blast for me, because of the very Unique Vibe and Charm of seriousness approach, it was so different from many diverse aspects perspective than others Tekken games, with only Tekken 5 coming very close behind to Tekken 4 Uniquess Aesthetics. nice idea, in my opinion the best Tekken is TTT1 because it is actually T3 with better graphics and a tag system. Then Tekken 3 because of the atmosphere, the music, the game modes nad everything. After that comes Tekken 5DR . Its a great update to T5 and Tekken 5 already was a great game. Then TTT2 because there are forerst law. Then T4 cause of the great stages. t7 cause it has great gameplay and its mostly balance but there are a lack of Gamemodes and seriously fuck lucky chloe and give me back bruce! Then Tekken 6 and then T2 because i love the voice of Kazuya. And least Tekken 1. T1 and T2 are the least for some reason. There are if you asked me very badly aged
