It is even worse than that TMM, you forgot to mention that people who do not want to play the DLC characters, are basically forced to buy them anyway to be able to practice against some of their insane moves in the lab, to have at least some chances of winning. If you do not buy them and face them online - you are pretty much doomed.

I literally said this at the start of season 2. Every guest character, and every DLC character has something broken on a fundamental level. Some so blatantly it’s disrespectful. Im over it though. Tekken 7 is just that type of game, because the community accepted it, and pretended the flaws didn’t exist. Now the same people saying fighting games don’t need a story are crying about how terrible it is. The same people saying fighting games are competitive so extra modes are superfluous, are crying about how barren it is. Whatever.

Because when the game was still new, it was unpopular to criticize it. I’ve said this countless times in various forums, and people always told me to stfu and stop crying. I even told them that when Akuma was first announced with his own SF mechanics, that this was a slippery slope and a bad precedent for the series. I recognize the signs and I knew how fickle players can be. Especially because I remember them defending bound and Rage in T6, but now when TTT2 and eventually T7 came along they finally shunned those mechanics. People didn’t want anything to be wrong with the Game because it was new and they were burned out by TTT2. It’s like guys who constantly think with their d!cks and avoid the warning signs with certain types of women you know you shouldn’t get with. The signs were there, you just wasn’t thinking straight cuz all you thought about was getting ass. And we all know the consequences of that.

adercader1 I understand both of your points, but a lot of people were legitimately just complaining to complain, I think everybody is just making these generalized statements about criticism in Tekken. There were few who just flamed you for giving any criticism at all, there was a ton of criticism actually from the beginning just about things like customization, modes, hit box issues with some characters etc. Over time however came more problems, which has generated more legitimate criticism which is why you notice now there are more “bad” things people say about Tekken 7. Also notice that the whole thing with akuma was blown out of proportion because a region in the world played with the character much more than others. They were (and still are) on a different level, however if you’ve noticed over time with people playing (and playing against) akuma learning his weaknesses as well as the properties of his moves that he looks a lot less ridiculous at it had seemed. The problem arises when the Tekken developers do something as disrespect as putting characters like Leeroy and Fahk into the game. That was not caused by some slippery slope, but was inevitably going to happen as they try to milk as much money as they can from the game considering it is its most popular one of the franchise.

While Heihachi doesn't have lows but is aggresive, Jin doesn't have a reliable power crush but he has mid range control, I could say this about the entire cast they all have their weaknesses while Leroy and Fahk have generally no weaknesses pefect lows, perfect parry, perfect pressure tools it just makes them too easy, plus how the hell is Claudio a bad character he has some of the strongest moves in the game

Imagine if Bamco charged for the whole roster's new/updated moves. You can lab those because they're free, but you can't lab DLC; by definition they're charging for a competitive advantage by limiting access. Ubisoft's For Honor allows access to DLC characters in practice; how does Tekken, a dedicated fighting game, not address this fundamdental requirement to practice. Also, charging for frame data? That's absolute trash when so many other games have it from the start. Not to mention frame data is technically already in the game; Bamco got away with theft. Plus no in-depth tutorials which you can find in games like Skullgirls, Killer Instinct, Them's Fightin Herds. It's as if Bamco don't understand their own game so they don't know how to teach people how to play.

The developers actually addressed this somewhere else. They said something along the lines of “the game was made more for the casual players who aren’t into the technicalities of the game, so including the frame data wasn’t really their intention to begin with.” They only added it because we, the competitive players, asked for it.

Just for your information... Anna, Lei and AK were the MOST requested characters are the only well balanced DLC’s. They are even weaker than most of the cast. They either need buffs or the rest need nerfs.

Glad I’m not the the only one feeling fustrated playing Julia. I always ask myself why even bother play Julia when I can just play Fahkumram, who has a better and safer 15 frame launch punisher with similar damage and wall carry, a better ragedrive, piss easy execution. Not to mention Fahkumram has Julia’s Tekken 6 bow and arrow in his hellsweep which also wallsplats and he has a much better version of Julia’s nh Tekken 6 ff3 launcher in ff1+2, which has TWICE as much range and flips ppl over and hits grounded.

​@@mizhou7393 this is kind of the problem. Lee and Julia are the same in this regard. Execution is harder than it was even in Tekken 6 and much harder than in T5DR. You have these classic characters who are hard to use, beside DLC characters that aren't at all. I was destroying people in arcades with Noctis and he's my 3rd best character. Lee is my actual best, but he's so much harder to play with, I was getting wrecked. The gaps between characters is too wide

All DLC characters should be playable in practice mode. But I think the worst problem is the huge roster. 50 characters and 74 moves or more per character. It is too much. The 2nd problem is the damage. 50/50 into combo is enough to win. DLC character or not.

@@verrat3219 the game don't get hard because you have 50 characters. Tekken is hard because every character is complex. A huge roster made this game to a casual fun game like TTT2. Season 3 is a perfect example how easy T7 is at the Moment. Look at Kazuya. They spam Hellsweep and ff3 in a mix up and they are Tekken Good. Aggressive Online Hworangs are TGP because they mashing buttons. That's a hard game? Only 20% of all players in Season 3 playing Tekken with punishment and fundamentals. All others mashing buttons and hope for a counter launcher. Is this really a hard game? I don't think so.

Started at green tier with zafina and reached raijin in about 100 wins and then it took a long time to realize I was terrible at the game when I got my ass wooped when I was playing steve at green tier so hooray DLCs

As a converted Zafina main I do have to agree my climb in ranks hasn't been has hard with her as it was being for me with King who I played alot in older games when I picked up Tekken 7 early last year. I barely play ranked now but did get Zafina to Byakko couple months ago in about 123 wins overall with spaced out play sessions as I was learning her. I mostly play non ranked and been taking my time ranking her up. I would realize most times once I got into yellow ranks I had to improv my fundamental skills quite a bit along the way. I'm not really shooting to be a TGP or anything though. I just have fun playing the game with her. Sadly my King is still in green ranks since I've kind of neglected him now.

@@diasdemierdiaz Thanks for the tips. I have most of King's more straightforward chain throws committed to muscle memory from years past but setting up for them online is another thing. I struggle to do a giant swing on the whim and that wall combo using that motion. The highest I got to him to in green ranks was fighter but then got pushed back down to brawler. I've gotten alot more grounded in the game at this point though and the few times I have used him in casuals since putting time into Zafina. My movement has gotten better with him so I may put some time back into him at some point.

It isn't like most other fighting games where you just practice blocking low and breaking grabs and reacting to overheads or something. Marduk main here. Marduks damage is a little too high and does need a nerf, but what really needs to be fixed is his rage drive. It's incredibly easy to do and literally does like half their health on its own, no combos or anything. I've won a lot of matches i had no business winning because of it.

The way I like to put it is, Fahk lets you press buttons a lot without worrying about the consequences. Am I gonna get sidestepped? Nah most moves have insane tracking, or are part of one of his 15 strings that have over 5 hits. Am I gonna get low parried, nah because all your string with lows have 4 mid variations and a some highs with pluss frames, also most of those Ch laucnh them Am I gonne get punished, well yes if your opponent can guess which one of your 6 hits your string is gonna end at you might, also all your unsafe moves have the fastest recovery animation in the game so you have to be lightning fast on them. no room to react. Am i gonna get whiffpunished? no because you have the best range in the game Am I gonna get poked down or approached by + frame moves a lot? no because you have the best movement in the game Am i gonna struggle to come back when im at low health? no because I have a broken rage drive with high damage easy input combos with insane wall travel that does 80% life Am I gonna losw some matches to bullshit? no because there is no character in the game with a more broken hitbox than you. Am I gonna struggle to put preassure on the opponent? No because you have an electric with less execution, better range, better tracking and no unsafe version. the list goes on. Litterally autopilot char.

Right on as usual Main Man! Yea Tekken 7 is so toxic now, Negan players spam the armored launcher, Julia players are just war drums and mad axes + 700m war travel. Ganryu’s damage and evasiveness is obscene but he is easily pressured to death cos a lot of his moves are so slow. Fakumram players spam mixups in rushdown mode until they hit a 60% life combo. Game’s just less fun recently imo cos OP characters like this just encourage rushdown and everyone playing A/S tier. Doubles my respect for Yoshi/Lei players tho.

If you look at a tekken 7 match and then go back to tag2 on youtube you will see how easily they slid around moves and in and out. Pretty much every character has reduced movement evasiveness in T7 with caveats. Kazumi and Drag for example back dash very far and Lili and Zafina can side step things others cannot but Fahk can literally move back and side to side unlike anyone he is moving back like Zafina and sidesteps better than lili and Zafina at over 7ft tall.

I know I already had my work cut out for me, after taking a break from Fox to learn the game's fundamentals more, I picked up Armor King and Marduk. I had much more fun with these characters, but the win/loss ratio with Steve and AK compared to Marduk was kinda wild for me. Idk if it was me or the character.

I used to main Steve in season 1 (can't play hin for shit now) but in season 3 I started playing Leo. I generally have the easiest time fighting Jin, Kazuya and Heihachi, which is kind of sad because they're the flagship characters. I only have Lei and don't really play him at all but I haven't tried any of the others. I can't possibly imagine that people who play the oher dlc characters are just THAT much better than me, and for people who play legacy characters like Kazuya or Lee or something, I just can't imagine how frustrating this game must be and it makes me upset, I want everybody to have fun and lately it just really doesn't feel like thats how it is

I honestly don't understand why you can't lab DLC characters. Even from a marketing perspective it make little sense, if a player tries out a DLC character in practice mode, goes through their moves and likes the way a characters feels, they're more likely to buy the character than just seeing a cool portrait.

You can sidestep his db2 and db1+2 ora pffrt bullshit. They are both linear as shit in S3. Even Eddy's idle stance avoids db1+2 due to how linear it is. The difference between dlc and standard characters is that not everyone will have the dlc characters to learn them. Anyone can learn alisa and katarina, but not everyone can learn the dlc characters unless they pay for them.

Maybe time to ditch Tekken for a while & try Soul Calibur 6. A sensible sized cast of characters without silly wall carry overpowered combo's & decent 3D movement. I love both of course- but i think i prefer Soul Calibur overall.

The DLC characters are essentially easier to pick up and can get you further at the start ;however, the devs need to make the characters broken for the time being so people will buy them, then they make balance adjustments months later. There needs to be an incentive to buy DLC otherwise the devs are waisting their time and resources.

The very simple fact that you can't lab the first DLC characters (Geese and Noctis) or practice wallbreak combos in Howard estate should've established that the game is pay to win. Even if the DLC characters weren't OP like Lei, Anna and A.King, you're still at a disadvantage because you can't lab them, period. Then Season 3 DLC gave you very powerful characters that will f*** you up especially if you can't lab them. Then the frame data display DLC came out that gave paying people even more of an advantage. What did the fanbase say about this, you ask? "Hurdur, nothing's wrong, not pay to win. Just buy them cuz each DLC cost like a cheeseburger or some sh**"

While I agree the majority of the DLC is relatively very powerful, I’m not convinced it’s done with the intent of “pay to win” marketing. The original T7 cast had time in arcades to play test and balance before arriving on console and PC. I read that characters like Shaheen were grossly overpowered at first before being toned down. Wasn’t Akuma ridiculous at first with Fated Retribution? It seems to me brand new characters are those that present the most probability of balancing issues. This may be due, in large part, for being characters that are least tested and refined.

I think the main point is that if I buy a base version today as a new player, I can't learn the game because I haven't spent extra on DLC which limits access to extra resources, i.e., characters for practice mode. Price is not the issue, it's the behaviour that's being called into question. Even For Honor gives you DLC access in practice.

My fav characters are the mishimas. Ive spent years (on and off) mastering the wave dash moves. Ewgf requires f d df + rp to be imputed in 1/20 of a second to pull off with heiachi. The reward is an incredible move. These dlc characters get incredible moves with minimum effort. Leeroy, Noctis, Fak, and Geese are a nightmare to play against online. When I see a Leeroy I want to quit, but I dont because I dont want a bad disconnect rate.
