Hi Dan, I tried it by closing my eyes and visualizing the emotions coming in the door like they were m&m people, went back and forth between this and writing down the emotions and what they had to say. It was a pretty long list and then I thanked everyone for coming and said bye at the door. I think it went well, I felt less heavy in my chest afterwards. Then did a 10 minute meditation. So far so good! Thanks!

Thank you Dan for posting these videos. They are honestly super helpful in explaining a lot of these intense concepts surrounding TMS and healing. I am pretty new to all this but after hearing about Dr Sarno’s work and listening to these videos, I feel that I am starting on my path to healing. Thanks again and please keep posting!

Woaaaaah this was a powerful one for me Dan. After learning for years that emotions = physical pain due to my migraines and headaches (which I now know isn't the truth) I have been so scared to feel my emotions. Any emotion - Happy or sad because I have learned that any emotion = physical pain. How ironic when it is in fact the opposite to this. After my husband separated from me I was forced into the worst emotional state of my life. I felt every single emotion under the sun which forced me with a therapist to start feeling them. As my divorce goes through I know I am still pushing them to one side so I am going to try this practice with the open house. I love this idea. When you first said this open house I literally saw a Halloween/spooky house in my mind but I have just tried it and instead visualised this beautiful house in stunning surroundings with tea, snacks and me as the host. It was a pleasant experience rather than a fearful one. It was actually a pleasant experience and better than I thought it would be. Still hard to convince my brain that emotions are safe but as with everything else Dan, I know with time my brain will get the picture. I am going to add this open house to my morning routine of watching a couple of your videos then going on with my day. THANKS DAN!

Please keep in mind that emotional pain does not HAVE to create physical pain. It may have in the past, but once your brain learns that emotions are normal and safe, you will be able to get the brain to disconnect emotions from pain. The way forward is to feel your emotions so the brain learns they are safe. Exposure therapy to emotions. The Emotional State video in the course in the membership area explains this.

@@PainFreeYou Thanks Dan. Yes this is my new belief... emotion doesn't equal pain. But I need to convince my brain of this as I know it is stuck in the past but I am reassuring it of my new belief. I'll check that video out again. Thanks Dan.

@@christieharrison560 Emotions have no meaning. They don't mean you are weak, crazy or out of control. Emotions mean that you are a normal human being. Expressing emotions is sharing with other people. Feeling is an inside job. Feeling is required to teach the brain emotions are safe. Sharing/expressing them is not required to get well. Decide that emotions need not be scary anymore. 🙂

So yep, me :) I have now realized I let my fear of emotions and the resulting pain slowly pull me away from my job, friends, family, travel (exactly as you stated in your video) physical activity and romantic activity. They all became triggers for my pain because my brain was trying to "keep me safe"... I am excited to try the Open House! I am also feeling a little sad because I walked away from many things I enjoyed over the yeara. At least I know why now though :) Will follow up.

Well you are describing a lot of what I am living. But I decided to go own with life. I reach out more. I drive more. And I am successful, my friends are receptive and welcoming (but I am the one reaching). I try to do things. I feel my emotions , sadness , anger. there is nothing I can do with family. So i have to feel the separation, it is about learning to accept. Shift the focus to people that accept me more for who I am. And my tension headaches increased. I choose to have a life but the body is not on board.
@PainFreeYou2 жыл бұрын
The body is not in charge. Headaches increasing is just evidence that the BRAIN is still perceiving danger from the increase in living life. You can teach it to change it's danger response and eliminate the pain.

Pain Free You one question though Dan. In times of high stress or negative emotion , I get spasms. Is this because my brain hasn’t learned that these emotions are safe & it’s trying to distract me ? Or is it because stress makes the symptoms worse

For example, one time I was in a family argument that was very triggering to me , and in the middle of it I had a spasm

@PainFreeYou2 жыл бұрын
If symptoms go up when you feel emotions, your brain is still perceiving emotions as dangerous. We can TEACH the brain that emotions are actually safe by actually feeling them. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j57CgmyIhpKLd8U

How does the journalling work for TMS?
@leedsholistichealth57004 жыл бұрын
If you journal about past traumas/negative experiences it can help to diffuse the charged negative emotions attached to these experiences. In so doing it can provide clarity and bring a new perspective to situations that often keep subconsciously plaguing us or stuff that we might ruminate over. Dr Sarno explained how negative repressed emotions can cause symptoms when the mind deems it necessary to protect us from these ‘dangerous’ emotions that may ‘explode ’ into consciousness. When we journal it is like we are validating these negative , scary, dark emotions and so the mind now understands that it does not need to protect us from them by sending us ‘distraction’ pain/symptoms. x
