My granpa lived in communist era and same done to his rabbits. We had a squirrel about 2 years named Benny that we raised from a baby and eventually he bit me. It was just time for him to go, but we couldn’t seem to find the right time to get him used to being outside, so he got a bit wild. When i went to the doctor, they said rabies test wasn’t necessary because chances he had rabies was super slim because we got him so young. We released him the next day, and now he lives in our backyard. Our cat watches him out the window.

To Mike Longo, I'm so sorry you and your family had to go thru this loss. It's such a shame that the p.o.s. authorities are more concerned about taking away and killing a harmless squirrel from it's owner, than it is for them to go after the illegal criminals that are running rampant all over the city. I also raised a baby (boy) squirrel back around 2005, I took him in after his mother accidentally dropped him, as she was being chased off by a bunch of kids at the park. Had him living with me for about 7.5 years, before he got sick and died from food poisoning. Just like Mark Longo, I too raised Nino to be a very playful and friendly pet squirrel. I was injured in a car accident and had to stop working and now I look after my 83 year old mom and we’re both on a fixed income. My brother unfortunately lost my mom’s house bcuz she co-signed for my brother’s house and he defaulted so the bank took it. It was supposed to go to me, but now we pay $2100/month on rent instead of next to nothing bcuz the house was almost fully paid off. So I fully know what you’re going through, but like you said no matter what we may be dealing with you can’t help but feel for others who are also hurting. What they did to Peanut and the raccoon was completely unnecessary and so cruel. They were probably so scared. I hope they can keep their nonprofit going through all of this.
