That's a pretty rare squirrel if I'm not mistaken. Excellent job keeping that awesome little guy safe. It is absolutely a joy to see this kind of humanity in its pure form. We come from nature and are animals that have evolved. The importance of communing with the other species on this planet is not only entertaining and heart warming, but it is true to our nature and beneficial in so many ways. Examples like this are a perfect reminder that our coinhabitants learn so instinctually through emotional connection. Who knows how they could surprise us if we all learn a lil to treat them better.

I literally have a young squirrel in my shirt at this moment, found him under a tree alone. They are way smarter then you would think and more fun luckily. Now that he's big enough I put him in that same tree most everyday to play. He always comes back and never tries to escape. I am adjusting to my new life as a marsupial and proud father of a little wildish squirrel .

It probably depends on where you live. Where I am in northern Illinois, they aren't common at all, but they also aren't rare. I know of maybe 3 that live in neighborhoods around me
