I had much the same reaction to be perfectly honest. One was enough if you ask me, but like anything that's even remotely popular, corporate execs are going to insist on slapping something together before asking whether or not they really should. In the interest of full disclosure, I haven't actually watched any of these All the boys movies, and I don't plan to, but I've seen different reviews and analysis videos by various critics and I don't think this needed to be a series. I don't say that because it's not my genre, although it isn't, but because the whole premise was decent enough for a first film but the second was just hollow relationship conflict drama that seemed to throw a wrench into the characters' relationship for the sake of doing so but the ends don't justify the means here. It was a poorly done and had so few differences from the typical who will they choose plot line that it just didn't need to exist. Not only that, but the series just seems to serve as a continuous example of why this couple just wouldn't work and probably shouldn't, especially how they portray the protagonist as incapable of being honest with her boyfriend when she should be, only to create what would've been no big deal if she were forthcoming from the start into a much bigger thing than it would've or should've been. I'm probably just jaded, but if I were being yanked around that much during a relationship with a girl I would've said forget it and have ended it. The boyfriend seems like the dangerously jealous type and he has made his own share of mistakes if I recall correctly from what I'm given to understand. The third film just seems like yet another played-out set up with just enough differences to beat this horse for all its mangled, rotting corpse it's worth and then some. If it weren't for the letters themselves, this movie series would be almost akin to plagiarism. I'm likely harping on this series more than I have any right to, but I can't seem to help myself when it comes to giving my first impressions as I still stand by my statement about how unoriginal the majority of these story lines are, and I'm sure that I can't be the only one who noticed this. I don't hate rom-coms or dramas of this nature, although it isn't my typical genre, but I do think a lot of them out there are far too old-hat and this series has done almost everything in its power so to speak to keep me thoroughly convinced that it's no different in that regard save for a few elements here and there. Also a side-note: You've probably noticed by now that I have a bad habit of giving a full critique of films and other creative works that I originally intended to be only a few sentences. Long story short, I have a passion for writing as well as film, although I'm not able to pursue much of either on any level for reasons I will spare you the details and sad stories. Anyway, I bring this up as a way of apologizing for the overlong and likely unwarranted wall of a review I've created here, and I ask you all to please excuse my rambling and I sincerely thank anyone who took the time to read all the way to this point. I wish you all the best either way in all of your endeavors.

This is such a pastel movie. Everything about it. The girl, the boy(s), the story (?). Pastel. Pastel. Pastel. At one point it gets chalky in texture near the end, but that's about it. Congratulations for staying awake through the whole series! x
