Halimbawa po, ang apelyido ng babae Cruz, ang sa lalaki naman po Dela Cruz. Tapos gagawa kami ng apelyido na'ming sarili. Halimbawa po ang napilj naming surname: Amalri, ang magiging itsura po ng pangalan namin ay: Mrs. Cruz-Amalri Mr. Dela Cruz-Amalri Gusto ko po kasi na ma-retain namin apelyido namin pero at the same time gusto ko na may commonality kami pareho.

When it comes to changing your surname dahil gusto niyo lang po, court process po yan. May specific grounds po.

Wala naman po. Ang bata naman ang dapat pa rin mag follow sa surname ng father. Unless, illegitimate child, may choice po sya either mother or father.

Hi maam. Under the law po, hindi po sya option na hindi na i use ang maiden surname natin. Yun po kasi ang legal name natin.

A change of name is possible. However, hindi po sapat na dahilan na hindi niyo lang gusto ang surname ng father niyo para ichange ito. Dapat po may compelling na rason para i grant ng korte. “A change of one's name under Rule 103 can be granted only on grounds provided by law. In order to justify a request for change of name, there must be a proper and compelling reason for the change and proof that the person requesting will be prejudiced by the use of his official name.” (Santos vs. Republic)

You can use his surname po by going to the individual govt agencies po to change your name in your ID.

Hi po, ask ko lang po if ok lang po bah if mag fill up po ako ng form di ko e hypen yung apelyo ni husband, yung as is lang po yung apelyedo ko lang po ilagay ko pero married po ang nakalagay sa status. Or kailangan talaga naka hypen Yung apelyedo ni husband.

Atty. May plano po kami i visit visa ang asawa ko pero mag kaiba pa rin kami ng apelyido sa passport. Mag kakaproblema po ba kami sa immigration?

I cannot speak for the Bureau of Immigration po. Pwede po kayong ma question sa immigration but I don’t think ma hold ang passport or visa because of this.

There is no need to change your surname. But if you want to, it’s okay. There is also no need to change your signature.

Legally, hindi naman po required. But for convenience po, lalo na kapag meron kayong nga anak traveling with you para di ma-question sa immigration, mas better na ichange.
