You can’t help but read the comments while watching this. I just keep scrolling, and different people come up on screen - different pieces start playing. The flawless transitions, the artistry, and the love from the pianists - it all comes together so well. It’s hard not to feel the gratitude from ever second of this. So many people have been impacted by Animenz. It’s hard not to feel the love while reading these comments. I feel like no one dreaded a second of practice, of work, of planning that this required. No one thought to themselves - should I be doing this? Should I be working on something else? And why would they? This is more than a collaboration. This is a culmination of 11 years that music has brought us together. 11 years holds more than a decades worth of emotion. More than a decades worth of thoughts and actions. More than a decades worth of stories and ideas. More than a decades worth of life. This collaboration is the culmination of all of that. I think that that itself is a masterpiece.

(taken from a post I made on my social media account) There was a lot I was itching to write, on the way the previous year began and ended, the ups and downs, of Christian camp, and of the upcoming semester and aspirations, but there was so much to cover that I got stuck somehow. Though there was a lot that happened, it was watching “To Animenz - 11th year Animenz anniversary celebration” and playing along midway that caused my most emotional tear. Listening to the songs of the medley, all too familiar from thousands of replays of Animenz's videos, I remembered the reason I am currently learning the piano in spite of my studies, other aspirations and serving in the ministry. It was when I saw the cover of Only My Railgun way back that I was introduced to anime and to anime music and to the wonder of Animenz and Theishter arrangements. It was then I began playing covers of anime music by ear on the violin, but the lack of harmony just wasn't enough; I really wanted to play it all one day, on the piano. It took me many years to finally begin learning the piano, but I've finally started, and though I do not see this as a viable career path and I'm midway through my studies, I don't want this to end unless I think to myself “this is enough”. I don't ever think this day would come. As I began listening, I realised I could not just watch. It was too overwhelming a bittersweet nostalgia journey, from Railgun to Unravel and onwards into anime, seeing the growth and unbelievable playing of my favourite pianist, how he faced hardship and more than once thought of quitting, only to push forward, finding healing in his original compositions, especially City of the Night, and the inspiring images that come along them... To weep for his challenges, to find intense happiness when his emotional Zoku Oregairu and energetic Usagi desu ka EDs dropped right before I flew, to wait for his year-long departure only to come back stronger... To in bitterness cry upon realising the brief death of Animenz, only to receive the utter joy of his return... Amidst all these memories, I instinctively took out my violin and started playing as tears began welling up in my eyes. To Animenzzz, thank you.

14:15 I cried out loud. I have been practicing classic piano since I was 4 years old. I never liked it much back then because I was forced to practice long hours everyday. I stopped practicing once I passed the highest level exam and wanted never touch piano again. Sometime last year I discovered Ruru's piano channel and that led me to Animenz and many more anipianists in the community. I started to practice again, piano ,with full of my heart and love. I cannot believe it one day I actually sat down and practice long hours just because I love piano. Thank you so much the anipianists out there for helping me found my passion, and letting me to these beautiful melodies.

god I fcking cried reading the epilogue Long live the king. And thanks all of you for the great work! It just feels so sweet watching this beautiful friendship and unison among the anipianists. As for myself, Animenz was my hero and my inspiration as well even though i don't play piano. The first time I learnt about Animenz was in 2014 when I was looking for a Amagi Brilliant Park's Extra Magic Hour and Animenz's was the only one available, and dear god how a mind blowing experience it was for me. At the time I just barely started my modest anime drawing hobby and my drawing wasn't so good and wasn't original either so I was kind of considering giving up. But then I came to know animenz and I heard one of his talk about how his piano covers was the way for him to express his love for the animes and I pretty much saw myself in him. So ever since then I've been continued to draw, keeping in my heart that it's all for the animes I love, and even though it still feel very underwhelming, I certainly have been improving through all these times. I was inspired by Animenz to draw the things I love, and to get better and better at that everyday. Another thing is my Animenz experience led me to broaden my horizon a lot more on animusic and jpop in general, and that went back to greatly enhance my anime watching experience and as a result helped to improve my drawing as well as I felt more motivated. It turned into such a sweet virtuous circle for me, and all started with Animenz.

This is awesome, I'm genuinely at a loss for words. This community is the best, and of course I'm also grateful to Animenz, the godfather, as well for inspiring me to continue piano when classical competitions went completely virtual. A few years back, one of my close friends (who was a weeb of course haha) showed me a video of a piano piece he said he had been working on, and it turned out to be Animenz's arrangement of This Game. As a below average cocky classical pianist who had barely even touched the surface of music, I thought to myself, "how good can it really be?" However, those thoughts quickly turned to shock and awe as I witnessed Animenz's sheer skill, and I was absolutely blown away. So this was how far anime piano could go? I looked to my friend, who looked back at me nonchalantly, saying "Yeah those arpeggios are annoying", while I felt ashamed of how far behind I had fallen 😂, I mean seriously, he said it like it was nothing, and sure I'd played a bunch of cool pieces myself, but it was never something I really wanted to do, and I guess my lack of effort made it that much harder for me. And recently, I've put classical music on hold, perhaps until the summer or whenever competitions become in person again. I've only been on KZbin for about 8 months now, but it's genuinely been fun. Nothing beats playing the pieces you love, so thank you Animenz, for inspiring me to continue piano when I would otherwise be tempted to just laze around all day. Again, amazing job to all the pianists that made this video, and best wishes to Animenz! (thanks for listening to me rant a bit haha) I know I'm a bit late to this vid, I really don't know why I didn't get this vid in my recommended ;-;

Animenz, A few years ago, I first stumbled across one of your anime piano works on KZbin. At the time, I'd had lessons for a few years but had lost the desire to play I had started with back when I was just a few years old. Your sheets and recordings were revolutionary to me--I'd never seen anything like it before, and anime was a dear part of my life by then; your channel spoke to my deep appreciation for anime music and re-introduced the spark of passion I had for playing piano from the start. I was lucky to learn about the limitless possibilities of this great music style from you, who provided a stepping stone for so many of us to start playing and play hard to become more than we had ever been before as artists. Over the past few years, I've discovered many pieces in your channel that became favorites of mine, and I've played those pieces again and again until I could hear the inspiring sounds that you produced, but instead from a piano at my own hands. So many times when I lapsed in practice for a few months, your works inspired me to practice again and enjoy the fantastic, wholesome activity that is playing the piano. We're thrilled to have you back, Animenz: I had already wanted to write a thank-you a couple weeks ago, but now I simply needed to, spontaneously, after watching this beautiful and heartwarming "11th year Animenz anniversary celebration" that the anime piano community made for you. Congratulations on coming back with your freedom and your recent "No Game No Life" debut. Keep enjoying your passion for anime piano and the support of this anime community. These are gifts worth giving, appreciating, and which you deserve for the many years of hard work you put into your talents, becoming a great pianist who inspires this community day in and day out. So much of this community exists thanks to the good you've done with your life by applying yourself to your gifts and sharing them freely with us!

The year is 2015, you just got home from school, started binge watching every anime you could found, then saw a cover of tokyo ghoul's "unravel" by a certain pianist named Animenz. Your mind got blown by how beautiful it is, and you rewatch it for about 500 times. 5 years later, remembering all of this makes emotion swells inside you and you start appreciating everyone and everything that have make you come this far. Thankful for discovering Animenz years ago, and thankful that we can all be part of this journey together. Happy 11th year anniversary Animenz, you're a legend and thank you for making videos on this platform called KZbin for millions of us and keeping our days filled with joy and happiness!

Pfiuuuu what a blast. I rarely write comments on youtube, but this vido needs to go up, therefore i drop my words :) Animenz got probably thousands of views from me over the years, but i only listened to his arrangements and never realized what a community was behind this frontman.. You guys are great. I am no pianist but a musician, and i for a fact that know that most of us are just creating music because our soul pushes us to do so, and if we have the possibility to share our creations, it's already a big win if someone acknowledges it, and if he likes it then it's such an immense emotional reward. But what you guys have done here... i'm sure you crushed his heart to pieces for an instant :) Well this comment goes nowhere, but let me just say that i admire Animenz and this community even more now that i understand it a bit better. I wish you godspeed in your journey, hope music will never leave you!

I feel so bad that I only found out about all this a day ago. Started out so sad reading animenz’s post about losing his IP and piano to being uplifting after seeing that he got his IP back and then to crying with this video. If u see this, ur the best animenz. Your covers have changed my life and brought back my love for piano

This is amazing. Thanks to all those who did this, Animenz really deserved it and i hope it helped him keep his head up. You just missed out on a slight detail, then everything would have been perfect: All the pianists should have worn long sleeves for this for the perfect hommage. Nevertheless, great work everyone, and especially Animenz for basically being the founding father of Anime Piano on youtube
