@@nontandoaina I know that this statement seems shocking, but it's absolutely, quite brutally, and sadly true. Show the men in your life just how much they mean to you every single day, no matter how much you may not just be feeling like it because you had a fight or a bad day because love isn't just an emotion...it's the actions you take, especially if it's going out of your way to do it. Because voluntarily going out of you way to do something for special just for him, and his pleasure alone (meaning you may not like it but he really does, ie. making his favourite food, watching his favourite movie, going to his favourite restaurant, getting your hair done and putting on that sexy little number he really likes seeing you in 😉 even though your not entirely in the mood) shows him your willingness to make somes sacrifices for him in return for his sacrifices that he makes for you and your family. We're simple creatures and we recognize, respect, and reciprocate (if he's not a piece of crap) that kind of stuff and would give our lives in defense of it.

Man you guys use everything to attract a female but when the female give in she becomes your property. Women will try hard to appease you. most of you got her wrapped around your finger until she snaps. Men use money lies cars and charm but now men are complaining that women just want money. These new woman are being raised by teenagers w out fathers so of coarse all they know is being half naked shaking they as ass.

Not all women are like that, you haven't found a good woman, we like sensitivity in men but I understand there are a lot of bad women out there. Keep looking and you'll find a good one. But we're also only worth what we look like and if you put a high standard on hotness then yeah you're going to get burned. There are girls out there who don't know that they're beautiful and they've been hurt, broken and won't let anyone in. It's not just hard to be a man in today's world women have impossible standards to try and live up to too

My kids and wife can't understand that I carry the weight of my family on my shoulders...my 2 kids are adults and living on their own but I'm the fail-safe...my wife, the one woman that I would sacrifice everything for has health issues and can't take care of herself, my grandchildren are growing up in a world that doesn't prepare them for adulthood and I'm the strong male role model for them...I'm the fail-safe, the last line before oblivion...the only fail-safe I have is God's grace and mercy because the weight of providing, protecting and leading my family is my burden to carry...my life is a constant sense of responsibility to them and the duty to sacrifice so they thrive...

I have a father like you and I want you to know that it's ok to just let your adult children live their lives, I'm 47 and my dad still thinks that he has to worry about me I have 2 grown children of my own and a granddaughter, I am there if my kids need me but they don't maybe I got lucky, I just want to say it's ok to let them be adults take care of your wife and yourself. They have to learn how to you won't always be there and letting them depend on you like that actually makes it harder for them. I lost my mom when I was 19 I already had 2 kids and I was so lost for so long don't make the same mistake they have to be adults on their own

This song really hit me deep. After my parents divorced, I became my mother's caregiver after she had a number of serious health issues occur in the same span of time. During this, I was working two jobs and trying to get through college. No matter how hard I was pushed and how much I struggled I knew I couldn't break down and I knew I couldn't lean on anyone near me because I was the rock they were holding onto to stay afloat. There were times I seriously considered suicide and it didn't help I found myself at the bottom of the bottle more times than I want to admit. The only things that kept me going was the love for my family and the fear of leaving them alone. No matter how hard it gets or how far you may fall, you can always get back up and the ones that truly love you will be there for you even if you think you need to be the only one there for them. Stay strong, brothers, fathers, sons, and nephews.

So your saying maybe there's 2% of women that think that way. I will cry in front of my wife twice hopefully... when my parents pass. Otherwise, no, I want her and my kids to know that I'm strong enough to protect and provide no matter the circumstances I'm going thru. That no matter how I feel, I'm there to finish business. That's what a man does.

I am glad to hear you talk about the way we as men experience the world as seeing us as our worth being based on our job and what we can provide rather than the song blaming all women for feeling this way about it. As a therapist I have seen men cut out the very woman in their life who could support and appreciate him because the man's core value is that he himself feels he is failing his family by not providing enough. When he tears himself apart, he tears his family apart.

Stop whining, did you plan your life the right to incorporate a family. Why would you have kids and a wife when you can't be home more often. So you allowed yourself to work 12 hour shifts and go home and play with the kids or do you want a bath food sleep. This is when your ego pushes your emotions inside to later whine about working hard while the wife is at home with kids. Tired as well. You chose to be mad at the world.

I remember coming home after I was laid off after being there for 12 years. In one day, I lost really good friends, my income and my pride. I cried, screamed at the top of my lungs at my windshield and beat on the steering wheel. I knew we were gonna be screwed soon because we barely lived paycheck to paycheck. I walked into the house, no sign of me being upset or crying. Scooped up my little babies and hugged the longer than I normally did, smelled their hair and inside I was so damn scared… I needed more than anything for someone to tell me it will be alright. I turned to my wife and broke the news… her first words were… now what are you gonna do to fix this? .. I told her it would be ok and not to worry, I’ll have a job in no time… but I knew I dint have a clue how to fix it. Luckily for me I did find a job within a 2 weeks because my treatment at home was horrific.. she somehow had this power to criticize me over everything. Once I had a paycheck every thing was golden. I didn’t show how scared I was for even a second, but because of the way she reacted I knew immediately that I’m only there for her free ride in life, worth a paycheck and nothing more. I never shared with her my emotional deterioration, and never will.

It’s crazy watching reactions to this song and seeing the song play out in them. Men talking about toxic masculinity and how there are good women. The only thing about women in this song is their reliance on men to be emotionally present in addition to providing. This song is primarily about men’s struggle and today’s culture that tells them they are terrible for keeping their emotions in AND for expressing them. Before men were doing correctly by not showing emotion now men can’t do right no matter what they do. It’s a struggle that embodies the suffering of men and the deafening silence they live with.

It is a crisis. As a father I fear the society our two sons are going to have to live in. But I will NOT make them feel shame for being a man. We raised them to be proud to be a man and what roles that come with being man. We taught them to treat a woman the way a man to be. I have a wonderful wife that supports my roles, appreciates my efforts and instilled that in our sons. Men protect, provide and preside. That is what our purpose is. But we are not immune to the emotions of being human. Good reaction.
@jerryph40
@jerryph40 Жыл бұрын
I am not so sure he is talking about just “showing emotion” in this song. I think he is speaking directly to showing, or admitting to, the struggle of holding it all together for the family. He is speaking to the unspoken requirement of being the bastion, or the rock of the family even when you don’t have a clue what you’re actually doing… always having to have the right answers and make the right decisions… having a wife and kids hanging on your every decision. And there is no relief from that responsibility…. I could be 100% wrong, but this was my take on the song…

Many women won't admit it, or don't believe it about themselves. But if your income drops in half for more than a short gap, they will mysteriously be less attracted to you. They will say there's no connection anymore or some other excuse. But if the income comes back, suddenly you're much more attractive. It's built into their biology. To me the most important line in the song is "unconditional love is for women, children, and dogs". Men aren't on the list.

I agree with the song but also what you said at the end, I literally as a man am not allowed by society to even approach a girl to ask her on a date. I live in fear every day that if I look at a woman the wrong way or ask her out she might scream rape just because I showed the smallest amount of interest. Idk about everyone else but I can’t take that chance, I can’t pay the price for something I haven’t done. Even worse I can’t tell half the time of the woman I’m interested in is actually a woman. It’s becoming an epidemic at this point! So I’m just done with it. If a Woman who was born female wants to be with me she can make the first move that’s what all the feminists want right? Equality? I’m tired of all this FemiNazi shit these days. I just want men to be men, and women to be women again.😢

It's very difficult because femenists and weak simps will attack strong men and call them toxic. It's tough but we need strong men and strong fathers to step up and protect our women and children from the insanity we are living through.

One of the biggest problems is other men. Men who put down other men for not being, muscular, or make as much, etc. Men will sit here and cry and say they relate, then go out and put down another man for all the same reasons. We need to stop that. But there are good and bad people, no matter your race, religion, gender, sex, etc.

I don’t know how to open up to them and I think that’s the point of the song. Men struggle letting those close to us in on the struggle they are going through. They don’t want to feel like a burden or less of a man or weak or whatever.

The respect and trust for the man who stopped? You can have the most amazing woman in the world but if your the breadwinner and you stopped, how long would she survive that? That's bs a true good woman will stick by you no matter what, some of us could care less about money. This is your problem, not all women give a crap about money, I worked to support my 2 children and my husband, I left him because he was a manipulative cheater and I stayed for 18 years...but of course it's all about the money. Nice excuse, keep blaming women for your insecurities and you'll be alone forever. Grow up

There is nothing toxic about being a man. There are just toxic behaviors but that has nothing to be with being a man. Many women share those same behaviors but I dare you to point that out and not have a fight on your hands.

I don't value my man by what he can provide, I wish he understood that and could show me his feelings but it's true as a society, my little brother was raised to never cry he couldn't even cry when our mother died I mean he actually could not and it broke my heart, he would pass 3 years later and I have felt that it is a weakness to cry and I am a woman. There are great people out there and we're all scared to let anyone in.

Go and sit in his lap, hug him, tell him you love him and you appreciate him. It won't get him to show you his emotions but it is all he really needs. Speaking as a 60 something man of 4 daughters and 5 grandkids. You need him to be stoic, he needs to know you understand, love and appreciate him. Do with this as you will. Goodluck 🙂 JMHO

I don’t think this song is trying to say women don’t know how hard life is or that they’re causing these problems, that’s not the impression I got at least, it seems to me more like he’s saying this is the way most men are raised to think and believe and view themselves and these are the fears and feelings that a lot of men have, “if I can’t provide for her she’ll find someone who can” obviously that’s not true in most cases but I think a lot of men still feel that way even when it’s blatantly untrue and some women probably don’t know what all is going on in a man’s head, it’s not that they don’t care and of course it goes the other way too, men don’t always know how women feel and deal with their issues, he’s just trying to express what a lot of men go through with their mental health

As human beings men feel emotions just like women. That’s normal, and stigmatizing it seems like the most harmful part. It’s important to know that while it’s ok to feel, you still have things that need done.

I don’t agree with the part where he said that you feel that she stays because you’re only providing.. that’s not true. It depends on who you married. I’ve been with my wife since we were 17 years old and she stuck with me through thick and thin… we’ve had a great life together 32 years raised my two kids and now I’m raising my grandkids because their dad is not around.. so I know what it’s like to be a man, happy Father’s Day to all the real daddy’s out there..❤

He's talking majority. According to the census bureau, women are 84% of the divorces filed. And majority will say because they couldn't provide to the lifestyle they wanted. Of course there is a minority but it will never outweigh the majority of the problem.
