I am 79 years old and find myself reflecting on the fact that life is so temporary. As my precious existence is near the end, I realize that LOVE was the ultimate achievement.of my long life. The media is so full of the anger and hate by one group of people against another group. But if you look deeper within each tribe at the one-on-one connections of families and friends, you find so much LOVE. Humans are herd animals; we need each other to feel safer. I cried tears of joy watching this beautiful video, Sammy. For a few brief minutes I transcended the noise and daily struggles of life, watching all that LOVE on the screen, floating on the beautiful music. I feel so comforted, passing on the chain of life to creative members of your generation, who at a young age, have already discovered the secret goal of life----LOVE CONNECTIONS.

5 mins, ooo I'm early. Lemme say something: You have been my comfort music since i was 15 or 16. After every break up, sad or lonely days, failed tests, your voice has kept me company through my late teary nights. Now Im 19 and a music teacher :D. I've always had trouble admiting I adore this type of music to anyone because of how soft they seem, but I can't help but fall in love with it, so here I am. Thank you for influencing my life and comforting me through hard times.
@stefano18952 жыл бұрын
Don't think you should feel in trouble. You don't have to admit anything. "Admitting" is for criminals. You just love the music and that's more than enough for you. It makes you happy, that's what matters. As Charlie Chaplin once said, "...what others think of you is their problem."

Just cried a little at the end, thinking about my boyfriend while listening and reading. Such a great song and such a great emotion from just a (wonderful) voice and a piano. Your music is incredible in ways hard to explain, it speaks to the soul. You're a great inspiration to my music, I'd be happy to write songs half as good as yours!

I don't know how to say this without sounding like every comment but your voice is beautiful. I don't think anyone could do a cover of this song, your voice is exactly perfect for it. And the soft piano melody complements your voice so much. The piano for the song, which is just a simple love song, a story of a simple couple of kids that had an ordinary, humble life, who fell in love and grew old, the piano is so right to represent that story. The way this song is sad even though it's about love is so true to what love is. To allow oneself love something deeply is to guarantee tragedy when it's lost. In this case because of old age and the fragility of life. This song really moves me. There isn't one thing wrong about it, this is art. I know I probably just sound silly, like I'm just exaggerating but this song is perfect. Your voice with the style, with the piano, with the story, with the feeling, it all works perfectly. I love this song. Everytime I listen I love it more.

Grief is one of the biggest, most life changing priviledges there is. What a gift it is to have loved someone so deeply that their departure hurts this much. I have lost my best friend and love of my life to cancer this month, and you are right Sammy. Every second spent with her was and is worth the tears. I carry no regrets for the love we had [have], but the song captures well how disoriented one feels in grief as well. What now? Where do I go now? What do you do when you built your lives around each other and now only one of you lives? What to do with oneself? I hope I figure it out as life moves forward. What an adventure it has been, and how many more await. Much love to you and the others going through tough times x

Oh Sammy, you and your extraordinary songs! They're all stupendously written, marvelously sung, and flawlessly played! Each of which telling a story or two, of long, damp evenings or sunrises in the morning dew... your voice sounds like butterfly wings fapping through flowers, and feels like the steady wind of afternoon hours... all your notes are as if they were put in place by the hands of angels, it reminds me of the soothing hum and spin of old and gold vinyls, a lone needle running around in its album-long track, singing its songs, one by one, back to back... I've noticed how all your "t"s are sung soft and warm, as though they were small splashing puddles after a storm, kids running around in boots and coats, imagining the puddles as lakes and moats... But what this little poem and story were trying to say, is that I absolutely adore your music in every possible way. Thank you, Sammy, for all that you've done for everyone who has listened to your masterful art. Just a little bit extra poetry, without rhymes this time: Your music sounds like the warmest hug, and feels like the purest form of nostalgia. Thank you. ❤️

Lyrics: I love you to the bone I love every piece of you All the pieces you don't That face you pull for strangers The voice you assume on the phone And I'm so glad that you let me in You are not a prize for me to win But with every piece we share I'm a kid at county fair And you are the giant teddy bear I love you to the sea I love you like the tidal wave That cast me away When it washed me back to shore The first arms that found me were yours And I'm so glad that you found me there Half-asleep with seaweed in my hair The mermaid and the sailor Half a decade later You and I were still the perfect pair Then came rings, and a house Sixty years or thereabouts And still I'm searching for the perfect way to say I love you to the earth I love that you love Hemingway And the first hint of May And daffodils, and oil spills And mountains made from molehills And I hate that I know All that makes your garden grow What to do with all of this once I'm alone? I love you to the bone I love every beat of you Every measure and note And so if I stand a chance May I ask you for this dance?

Hello Sammy, I just want to say thank you so much for having made music that has helped me verbalize all of the thoughts I can't seem to express. I've been going through a lot recently, and I'm terrified of losing my loved ones to the passage of time. At the very least, this song puts into words everything I've ever wanted to tell the people that are most important to me, even if it's too late to tell some of them now. You're an inspiration and a poet, and I aspire to one day be able to write the songs that explain how I feel as well as yours do. 💜💜💜
It’s the purest and warmest thing I’ve listened to, I guess, in years. My cheeks are salty now :) it’s so calm, cozy, so comforting. After days of anxiety I feel finally safe. I feel love 🤍

Absolutely beautiful song. Its in my top 3 of Irish songs from last year. When I was playing my particular Irish playlist for a friend, she made me repeat this song over, and over and over. I certainly didnt have a problem with that. For those who love this , I would like to let you know that I flick back and forth between this and "if you are" by Ruby Moss, another young Irish singer-songwriter.I get a similar emotional hit between the 2 songs.

I found a short video of you on TikTok. It was song of, what I interpreted was a child off to college missing home. Immediately fell in love with your lyrics and soft singing. I, then proceeded to search your page for more of the song. Found this one partially made and it reminded me, somewhat of how the old couple in Pixar’s UP would feel but also how I feel toward my wife. Then, while scrolling through your videos saw an announcement to come here on KZbin for the whole video! Sammy, you are wise beyond your years! Your lyrics beautiful, thought provoking, poetic and loving. Sadly, today’s radio refuses to air real music. Music with heart felt messages. Keep up the great music. You’ve earned a fan today. And most certainly I will be sharing this to everyone willing to listen. There is too much hate in this world. We need an up swing and your music is a step in the right direction to make a change. I wish you all the best.

I'm 48 and discovered Sammy on Tiktok as well - I'm since realising that when older folk say "people don't make good music anymore", it's so not true! There are young people out there making wonderful content for the world to enjoy but they aren't always given support from traditional labels or music execs. I've discovered some amazing talent on that platform and am so thankful for it. This song moves me so much. And yes! It made me think of Up too :D
