I don't think many people who are participating in good faith on this topic _actually_ disagree with the concept of GDKP. The problem is GDKP *in an environment with rampant botting/RMT.* When you can just buy gold, it undermines the sanctity of what makes Classic WoW special - that old-school feel. It de-values the actual WORTH of each individual gold piece. GDKP is effectively a way to transform your gold pieces into gear, but when just next door people are turning their dollars (a resource that exists outside of the game) into gold, it supplants the _original resource_ that was intended to be used in the place that Dollars-to-Gold equation: Time.

People can convert their gold in to items, i have no problem with that. But it does affect the mental state of the community and the culture. I've never met more mentally unstable people than in GDKPs.

I'm really not sure who this video is directed at. I would say majority of people who are anti-GDKP don't even dislike the premise of GDKPs but it's what comes with GDKPs is what people have issues with. Rampant RMT is a by product of GDKPs and to say otherwise is just disingenuous. All you need to do is check the AH prices and see that players who DO NOT participate in GDKPs are still negatively impacted by them.

GDKP runs is typically how I get gear on my fresh 60s by doing a few AQ20/ZGs. The drops are generally cheap and better itemized than gear from MC. The runs pay for themselves and then some unless absolutely nothing worthwhile drops.

This sounds normal for the long time players of era with a stable guild/raid for their alt join for aq40/naxx, they simple get their t1/t2/zg/aq20 gearing in a week or two and jump right in to their guild's aq40s. But this is not something fresh players to the server without any social connections can do.

@@matthewbiron7575 I was lucky and copied my rogue to era when it was first available in TBC prepatch. I stopped playing about a week after TBC launch and didn't come back until wrath prepatch. Always thought I had wasted $15 doing that as I'd periodically log in to see that era was completely dead until people became nostalgic for it again at the beginning of wrath.I had gold and resources to level up a warrior from scratch and boost/buy what I needed before goldflation happened.

Bro, I don't care how you play and enjoy the game. I don't pay your sub. That said, GDKP kills the spirit of community and camaraderie that WoW was, at one point, known for, in exchange for being meta-slaves and buying their way to the top. I didn't pay 15 bucks a month for every raid interaction in trade being a bark for a GDKP goon squad. If you people had your own little containment server where those raids didn't pollute the rest of the community, fine, but I'll take a full on ban as well, too.

After 3 years, 19k hours, 18 lvl 60 and 14 lvl 49 characters later: 14 characters exalted brood (meaning i've done some AQ40s) 12 characters 8/8 T2 (and I've done some BWLs-MCs-Onys) 16 characters exalted ZG (every class on both factions) only 3 characters naxx attuned (a gnome mage with 5 atiesh splinters and a soul seeker, a dwarf priest with 5 untraded T3 tokens and a spire of the twilight, and a night elf druid with nothing to show for it) I could have done more naxx SRs if i wanted to. I've been invited on multiple ocasions but i refuse to go to naxx much, because reasons. Point being: I don't join GDKPs. I have never joined GDKPs in the entire 3 years duration of Era. and I will never join GDKPs. All the raiding i've done on my chars has been done on other loot systems that are not GDKP. Mostly i've done SR. A lot of those SRs have been SR with point system, meaning each reset reserving an item increases my points on that item, so next time i have a higher base roll, wich increases chances over someone who is SR that same item less times. I've also raided using EP/GP with the CEPGP addon, aswell as straight up loot council for some items / all items. Why I don't join GDKPs? because I wish to not participate in that economy. I'd rather be "poor" but knowing that all my achievements have been earned through my own effort. However I don't care that people join GDKP. Thats part of the freedom that people have to play the game in wichever way they like. To me, not joining in GDKPS it's a self imposed handicap that I like to play with. Just like i have never bought nor sold mage boosts. I have leveled all my characters "al naturel" and i will keep leveling like that. I'm not saying i'm better or my way of playing is better, I don't think anything it's better or worse. I'm just saying everyone has the freedom to play the game in whatever way they want and it's all ok and respectable. Do GDKPs or don't, do mage boosts or don't, doesn't matter to me, I'm not concerned.

GDKP as a concept is great, but in an environment in which RMT and botting are allowed, it is just a vehicle to accomplish a purpose. I believe this is how it is done: 1. Blizzard creates gold out of nothing and through some "ghost" user sells it on RMT sites 2. Blizzard tolerates bots, since it needs a bigger network of gold sellers as cover. Bots are a form of Blizzard's "protection", so they will NEVER be fully banned 3. GDKPs are firmly in place, so the whole racket functions properly 4. Blizzard makes way more money from RMT than from subscriptions - It also "justifies" the existence of Era this way This is the logical conclussion I have come to - Anything else does not make sense. On top of this, they would of course want to sell you their token, to "fight" their own scheme lol

Yea GDKP has a place, and grand scheme of things is lower on the totempole in terms of things related to gold buy. Blizz just needs to dev up and issue a statement that says "from now on all gold buying will result in perma bans". Because at the end of the day, boosts/hoj sellers/nax trash farms are worse because those are the gold sellers, and they are there because people are buying gold and using it to build out pre-bis. Want to know how I know this? Same shit is happened on SoD and they banned GDKP lol. Difference between SoD and ERA is that SoD has a HUGE roster boss at end of phases. Era has GDKPs to help fill in the gaps.

Roll a warrior and get zg/aq20/mc/bwl gear thru soft reserve, once you get just a bit of gear as a warrior you can get into a naxx gdkp as a carry and make gold . I shit on probably 90% of warriors on my full t3 gressil wielding rogue but I can’t ever get into naxx gdkps because I’m a rogue, so make sure to roll a warrior if you wanna dps because that’s the only class high end gdkps take

@@Marcus-yu6su just the way it is . People like efficiency . That’s the reason warriors are king . A really high end raid would bring only 1 rogue 3 mages and the rest warriors as dps . It’s wow classic and people have min maxed the fuck out of everything . That doesn’t mean you can’t raid on other specs . My warriors guild is starting naxx prog and our composition is far from ideal, we have like 6-7 rogues and only 5-6 dps warriors . 5 warlocks 3 hunters 5 mages and even a damn moonkin lmfao . We do not have a ret though xD . The groups that are snobby or elitist about comps tho are the ones trying to min max and speedrun tho but there are PLENTY of guilds that aren’t that way . I was just trying to give you the best way to get into high level gdkps quickly . Either be a warrior dps orrrr be a good healer preferably a priest or paladin .

Also in new Sod phase people can clear mc 2 times in a week you think people dont do it ? ofc they do community work this way i take this example bcs devs say (lf u want) and people also mad about 2x resets . Also prices are insane for people who not doing gdkps and buying gold ( you can easily farm at low lvl some venom sac or something but still this prices works like - (Omg i need leave this shit wtf is this). For example they banning for multiacc so you cant play ally-horde- banning for wintrading buying golds and selling-buying characters. I got ban one time for multiacc second time selling char and third time - i one time buy gold and got ban week after, every ban is perma so i need start from zero. My friend selling character in website he provided all his items in the description the nickname was blurred but he got banned anyway :) . I know its impossible ban all bad things but blizzard do 0 effort Cheers

The way I see it is there are really only 2 real options for raiding if you want to full clear week in and week out no questions asked. You join a guild with good leadership, competent members and mostly deal with a loot council and less often a DKP system OR you are pug raiding with GDKP system. GDKP is the only reliable pug raid option for keeping everyone thru the whole raid and attracting great players to carry the whales to a full clear. Any SR/Free roll raid can be blown apart by having a MT or a healer or 2 drop raid after then 2nd boss in a raid didnt drop the only item they wanted. people seeing a key role leaving raid early starts the dominoes affect of more and more leaving right after. GDKPs literally keep the pug scene afloat

Hvane't watched the vid yet - but how do you start in a GDKP guild, as new player? Like I wouldn't want to buy absurd amounts of gold, and I can't imagine spending time farming stuff to maybe sell it later giving me those amounts aswell. Also, I don't see myself invited without any decent gear for some runs, to get my gold share at the end. I just don't think it's very healthy overall because of the sheer amounts being used there and we're talking classic. Like oof. Maybe someone is down to explain me logistics behind that - without including buying any gold from shady sides.

GDKP keeps the servers alive, is what it is. If you want to pug, you GDKP and if you want SR/DKP you will need to be apart of a guild to get a regular raiding spot. Most guilds work together to fill raiding spots too.
