I am a US citizen of Indian origin .. have business/ investments in China, Vietnam, India and Singapore. Only my Indian business has not grown .. I invested in real estate like a fool in India .. the building took 16 years to be operational. In 16 years, China and Vietnam have built entire top tier cities and provinces!!! China and Vietnam have given us 25~27% growth almost every year except the last 2 due to Covid. India is now behaving like a rabid barking dog .. any criticism is taken as anti Modi or anti national. Fools are so delusional, most believe they are already a “superpower” I have never once heard a Chinese tell me once that they are “superpower”. That word never has been used by the hundreds of mainland people I deal with. Indians: Shut your talk, get to work! Be humble, stop the social media Modi BJP IT cell superpower madness and quietly build your nation. Please brothers, let’s all use our resources to build a middle income nation. Learn from China, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, UAE, Singapore.

Still, in 2023, very sadly, several more bridges crumbled to dust in India. 1. In Mizoram, a railway bridge collapsed on August 23, 2023, resulting in the deaths of at least 26 laborers who were working on the site at the time. 2. In Bihar, a suspension bridge collapsed on June 5, 2023. This was the second such incident in Bihar since December. 3. In Gujarat, a newly constructed bridge over the Mindhola river collapsed, affecting around 15 villages. The bridge was under construction and its collapse are still being investigated. 4. Other notable incidents include collapses in Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and another incident in Bihar, among others.

What is the point for a nation to become a major economy when your people is still trapped in poverty? Don't know why India keep comparing itself to China??? If you are going to compare India & China then compare their rate of poverty eradication, because that is the only thing that counts for their people.

ALL (100%) the rich countries ( except oil countries) have one thing in common, they can produce goods and sell to other countries. This is the only way to make extra money and get rich. If you have eggs and sell the eggs in your village you make less money, sell the eggs in nearby town, make more money, sell the eggs in big cities, make even more money. For the same concept, a country needs to sell their products globally to make extra money and get rich. Before India can do this in a large scale India will still be a poor country.

There is simply too much anti-China sentiments within India society today, before that can be reversed, I don't think China should help India building its infrastructure. India has no money, so China need to lend India money to build its rail, if anything goes wrong (with Indian's work ethics, very likely), Indian people will definitely blame Chinese company, then most likely our company will lose money. So let Japanese do it, and see how they struggle with indian efficiency.

@@cheramanirumborai7181 You can't. The world is still largely dominated by the west that pumps out propaganda to prop up liberal democracy that serves their elites. India adopts this and produced some of the richest billionaires in the world while the country is still largely in poverty. Now that the elite is in control then its too late for any change. The elite in India has allied themselves with the transatlantic elites. The populace in India is far too diverse and brainwashed for permanent acceptance of liberal democracy, therefore there will be no people's revolution like China. It is likely that India will just sputters along like the interviewee said. A lumbering giant tortoise with a great sense a security due to his shell, but it is also the shell that makes it slow. There is also another possibility, and that is the fragmentation of the country, but this is less likely for the moment barring anymore shock to the society such as further waves of covids or other natural disasters.

Secondly, I pretty much agree to the scholar that India is too big and divisive to administer. More importantly, India is maybe the last country where their people are still in a dream of old colonization or imperialisms in 21st. India had swallowed up Sikkim, and has been trying to control Burma which would not surprise me if one day Burma becomes a state of India. Also, India has been trying to control Nepal, stations troop at Mauritius and Maldives. Right now India is even seeking to claim the Tibet territory from China. This is really crazy! Now, China is eradicating poverty while India is increasing poverty to 35% to soon 40% of population. This is the result of the fact that India copied Western corrupted democracy and China invented the new political system. India did to copy two important China invented, toilet paper - majority of Indian still open defecate and use fingers to clean the butt, and chopstick, majority of Indian still use finger to eat food. Both are the indicated that India is not civilized yet.

u do not get what i meant in my earlier comment.......... 1.poverty is rising in india, how's that? let me clarify FYI.......our gdp is at all time high & stands at 5th in terms of dollar size & 3rd in terms of taking all exchange rates.if u would compare with figures of 1991,then u will be able to come out of ur baseless assumption. 2.china is at no.1 in having forex reserve & india is at no.5.is that define how data for poverty is accounted? we got most fdi's in last 4 years & is at par or above china in terms of growth rate. 3.our indigenous manufacturing sector has seen a tremendous surge in last 3 years due to which fiscal defecit due to imports fall like led bulbs, solar panels, electronic microchips are few examples(yes we are behind china, given the size of economy, they have but it doesn't mean we r on a different bus onboard). 4.now,i am gonna explain why democracy is our need at the moment.if china would have diverse culture as alike as ours, china would have crumbled in communist autocratic regime. imagine 150 languages,2200 dialects,7+ religion, ethnic diversity but under one umbrella pushing forward to regain what was once ours. if eating with hands is a symbol of uncivilised culture, then britishers would have remained colonial masters & we couldn't have surpassed them by now in terms of economy, power, our space program, military expenditure.also i would like to add here, the rich variety of dishes we make here can't be handled by something as small as spoon, fork or any chop-sticks.(one definitely needs a special brain to eat a naan or chapati with fork or chop-stick) p.s-------RIP

I dont know much about India and I dont claim to be a historian expert. Forgive me if Im wrong, but i think its been decades since India been doing the same thing over and over again, partnering with western countries, etc. Look at how Africa and South East Asia are starting to prosper... why not be friends with your neighbor China and partner up. Work together for the better of Asia continent and Asians everywhere. Just my 2 cents... cause it saddens me to see how Asians are being torn apart like this and hating on each other. We make up to 65-70% population of the world. If we just work together, tolerate and understand one another im pretty sure Asia will prosper more and perhaps become the strongest contient.

The sentiment of good neighboring relations were not reflected by the Chinese side at all. If you look at the border history, not once has India done the first move to provoke the other side. The Chinese, despite having so much landmass available, always seem to want some more. They claim Arunachal where our brothers and sisters are proudly living as Indians. They keep taking more territory and then announce that to be the new status quo. You can't have good trade relations when someone is always threatening you. And to drive home the point of Chinese aggression, why is it that it has conflicts with Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Singapore, Brunei, Nepal, Bhutan, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar and Tibet. So it really is clear who the cause of the hostilities is.

I agree with Ninan, for India to continue to grow, they need to establish better trade and links between it's neighbours, something they are not doing because they are too inward looking. India should have been the main player, especially in the sub continent, instead China is the main player.

After WWII, there existed a bond of sympathy and friendship between India and China, both victims of British Imperialism. Then came the uprising in Tibet in March 1959. Unclassified papers on this incident contain numerous references to a CIA covert operation in Tibet prior to March 1959 to instigate and arm an anti-communist uprising, in conjunction with Taiwan's Special Operations unit. Former Chinese Nationalists confirmed that Indian intelligence collaborated in this effort, which ended with India giving refuge to the Dalai Lama. These facts explained China's sudden change of attitude towards her long-trusted neighbour.

Chinese-American here, with my own questionable takes. Imo, India has to initiate a bunch of reforms. I'm not saying Democracy is bad - but it needs to be checked, otherwise it leads to populism, which isn't great at nation building. Systems have to be flexible - if it works, it works; if it doesn't, then change it. Before you go uprooting the political system (which granted, imo *does* encourage its own flaws), look around, and see what works. What's real. Democracy crumbles when the populace can't even agree with what reality they're living in. Don't forget China (that's silly), but don't compare to the point of competing, either. India would need over a decade of composite average 15% growth just to match current China, GDP-wise. That's just math. 1.15^5 ~= 2, 1.15^10 ~=4, China's GDP is more than 4x India's right now. Instead of talking big about how India's going to totally overtake China soon, make it happen. Establish relations with other countries. If you aren't going to co-op with the neighbors, (Imo the smart thing, but also an understandably very tough pill to swallow) then I'd suggest Malaysia and Indonesia, Japan and Australia, maybe head over west to Saudi or Ethiopia, or through the Suez to the underside of Europe; India's geography is pretty good for maritime trade with Afro-Eurasia in general. Sign deals, and crucially: bring in investment. Much of the people in China expected most of their best and brightest to leave and never look back - and that was largely true until somewhat recently. When China launched programs to bring in/bring back foreign talent, and the economy showed promise, international trade boomed. Cut away the red tape, and get people to invest. Build stuff. India has very little internal migration and fairly lackluster urbanization, so build rail. Subsidize it even, it's a *public* service. Or I might just have read/listened to too many conflicting geopolitical analyses and what i said isn't smart or even sensible, but at least I think I'm being reasonable.

From every pillars of the states ( Judiciary, Army, civil governance, etc) are copied. Our business people do not love their country and use the political parties for their own gain.

Just because India cannot compete on manufacturing doesn't mean it is automatically more "creative." Keep thinking this and India will never improve. LOL

He never said that or at least that was not his main implication. He said there are cases where Indian companies were able to compete with Chinese mass production by focusing on creativity.

Note how much pleasure TN Ninan felt in thanking Karan. It was equally the same that I felt enjoying their discussions, suggestions and opinions about the possibilities and chances, of could it be possible genetically for a tortoise to turn into a hare ? Truly an enjoyable brain storming session of quality time. To the extent of wanting to watch it again. Spot on Sir Karan. Tk u.

Long story cut short is the country systems that makes the difference! If India adopts western political and economic ways to run the nation it’s not going to change herself!😎😄

So basically our commitment to side with Russia in the cold war and consequently making all decisions according to socialist values have cost us dearly.

How do you explain having socialist values yet having one of the largest income disparity in the world, with billionaires living next to slums. You guys have literally practice neoliberalism capitalism (under the support of the West) and reached a late stage of capitalism where the ultra rich capitalist elites now control and decide for the government. Good luck of getting rid of this system. Some African countries have tried for decades to get rid of the massive wealth hold by their ex-colonial white masters and fix their massive income disparity. Leaders have been assassinated. Thousands of protesters were killed because of the absolute power the elites have. The elites thrive in a corrupt environment as everything can be brought to maintain their own personal wealth. The same thing happens here in India. The funny thing is that those rich enough in India, move and invest in the West, not only causing a massive brain drain but also a huge foreign investment deficit. India has fallen into a system where their best individual leave India to fund and support the West. This could be labelled as a new form of colonialism, except this time it is the Indians themselves doing so voluntarily because they know the system that made them rich is the one that will prevent them from living a comfortable life in a developed environment where their businesses could flourish.

@@psychout3481 Socialism has never achieved reduction in wealth inequality. Chinese have the facade of socialism but they clearly have a capitalistic system. What I was pointing to was the closed economy of India till 1991 which caused us great harm by suppressing competition and delivering costly but inefficient products to the domestic market. After liberalising economy in 1991, the economy grew relatively fast, but we were already too late in the game by then. What you mentioned about brain drain is absolutely correct. Because the jobs in India for even very qualified STEM are mediocre at best, it is in the interest of students to go abroad to utilise their full potential. India having the size it does, needs to have its game strong in research, development and manufacturing - and right now it lacks in all of them. This has caused a circular disaster - lack of quality jobs forced good minds to leave, and thus loses possible entrepreneurs who can create new jobs
