Akkshaya Varkhedi Also at 9:25,Well My sense is, when asked about the disagreement with the government, it was the demonetisation decision.The PM had asked him for his view and he said he wouldn't suggest to do something like that, in the larger interest of the country obviously,and left the office, while the PM implemented it later that year(to win the UP state elections obviously)when Urjit patel was handed the charge. P.S- Look at the integrity of this gentleman. Even after leaving the office he did not anywhere drop even a hint that demonetisation might be in the sight of the government. P.P.S- A professional craftsman par excellence.

I think i realised one more thing about professionals. It is not that professionals dont commit mistakes, but professionals should not shy away from mistakes. They will learn from them rather than not taking risk to avoid mistakes. And people who hire professionals should not pressurise professionals against taking calculated risks. Thats is how we treat professionals.

His use of English phraseology is exceptional like 1" Clamour of the moment " 2 " Raucous public debate " 3 " where men are blind the one eyed king often rules". His analysis on how an vicious intolerant atmosphere has been created is very true. And looking back his words are coming true. Ad - hocs decisions like the Monetisation ,GST , and now the draconian farm laws have been a headache to the Indian people.

@9:14 Thapar rightly asks THE question on why Rajan left RBI, and Rajan does agree to Thapar's point of political factor. There is something fishy about this then. It seems to do a lot with Plans of current government, and Why Rajan seemed to be not good enough for continuing.

Not a 'Karan Thapar' interview. It was evident from the beginning that Ranjan is not going to speak anything against the government or about his relationship with the FM, not because he is afraid to do so but because he feels doing so is insignificant. Karan kept on moving in circle for 27mins and wasted crucial time to ask some meaningful questions. It is not necessary to get something for or against the govt from your interviewee everytime. A big fan of Karan btw. :D

The reason why team RRR and Urjit Patel etc have to go is that they resisted to bow down against the political pressure. Managing economy is not doing magic, its a slow process where you might see some results after years past by. Unfortunately few people want an immediate short term solution for a long term problem. Thats never going to work. With RRR out , how good are they managing economy now ! with unemployment rates shooting up so as inflation, it seems the self made pundits and economist were just too busy to throw a honest man out rather than to bring an order in the house. They are so miserable now

By ousting Rajan, BJP nearly lost my vote in 2019. But I'll give them a chance. Especially their capacity to take bold unpopular decisions. My advice: Don't take stupid decisions devoid of rationale. That's not why we elected you. And don't damage institutions (RBI). It takes time and effort to build their credibility strong enough to weather a storm like demonetisation.

People don't see the that intellectuals tend to have different moral values as politicians, in that politicians put power first while academics put ideology and public interest first. The banks' interests were threatened by new payment system and small banks, hence the departure. Whatever was in Raghuram Rajan's speech is irrelevant but a handy excuse. But why dragging that man through the small things rather than asking constructive questions, it's annoying
