Loosen all the butterflies on the throttle shaft and tap throttle shaft side to side. That's how you center the butterflies and should be able to idle about as low as you want. You also need to use leak down gauge on barrel valve for proper setting. Im sure you can google how to do that part. I don't want to write long paragraph on how to do it.

Get a dedicated barrel valve leak down tester for the barrel valve. 75%-90% leakdown on blown alcohol K-Valve app. Butterfly gap should be .005"-.010" fully closed. A well tuned blown alcohol engine will never idle below 1500rpm. Surge is the pump not spinning fast enough to keep the head psi at the nozzles. Its understandable though in an insane rich engine like the burnout cars though as they use the fuel for cooling

Look up some stuff called DAG 213. You put it around the blades when they are closed, let it dry and then crack them open to get a perfect seal once they close again. I use it on old multi carb setups maybe it’s worth a try on these.
@MoleDoesStuff
@MoleDoesStuff 2 жыл бұрын
It took me some finesse when rebuilding my motorcycle carbs and resetting the throttle plates. Took repeated adjustment and seating to get them to be perfect. Any slight rotation in the bore won't allow it to sit right as they are cut at an angle where they mate with the hat in this case. I also could be totally wrong based off my anecdotal experience.

If you've ever worked on a quadrajet or anything with vacuum secondary that's what they are there for. Trying to to do fine air control with such a large butterfly is very difficult, that's why a fuel injected car with a throttle body uses an idle air control valve. It's a small metering passage which is control by the computer.

They make hats like that. That’s what the Hoonigan guys put on the supercharged donk they built. It uses one throttle blade for initial opening so it’s smoother and more controlled. Then the other two catch up and kinda act like big secondaries. Although it is way cooler with a top fuel hat…

His consistency throughout the year means that not every video is a 30 minute dirty wrenching video. He has many more interests and pursuits than to sit on top of or under a vehicle and fix it in hopes to run a half-decent time outside of race season. He likes anything with a motor and a way to steer, he will surely make videos other than with his crowd pleasing drag cars. I think a nice mix of both is optimal. Having one or the other is bland and isn't consistently good content. This part of the year is best spent having fun and doing it with your favorite people and toys. Wait till after the heat of the summer, he has millions of dollars invested in his cars, toterhome, Freedom Factory, etc. He didn't do all of that to screw around with.

If you have ignition control, just keep winding back timing till it’s firing after TDC. This is how we used to do it with the motors using slide throttles. Sometimes the leaking just cannot be avoided so you need to ‘load’ up the engine a bit. Not something you would do for a road motor sitting in lots of traffic but fine for one like this.

@@williamuskoski1385 A burnout car is nothing at all like a drag racer. He'd have to change everything. You don't need heavy duty parts on a burnout car. Look how many diffs and and transmissions they've broken using very good parts. The elco doesn't have any of that because it's not putting that same kind of stress on them. If he put slicks on it and changed the rear end then he'd have parts all over the first 60 feet of track.
