This is a serious topic, The reason I posted this video is because I think that many people are in a similar situation. He is a role model for many people so hopefully we can learn something from his self reflection.

It may seem as psychotic behaviour to be emotionally detached even if you are trying to comfort other but it is what it is. The chat being like "you'll find a strong enough woman for you!" when he's talking about himself (its surprisingly emotional for him and that surprising to me but I also don't watch non-gaming streams so I am not sure how true that is)... I think the people who are saying that don't understand that his words are showing he has a genuine amount of empathy for the wellbeing of others and he doesn't want to be in a relationship when he acts like that. That's mature. That's above all else kind though. Just another among many reasons to appreciate and respect Toast.

This is so funny because my bf is literally like Toast. He is logical to a fault and doesn't consider emotions very much because facts are facts and emotions don't matter lol. We have been together 10 years and we've had a lot of fights. However, because we love each other and respect each other, we have worked towards understanding each other better and being more considerate of the other person. We always try to compromise and find a middle ground. It certainly doesn't take overnight or a short period of time for a person to change their perspective and outlook on things. It took my bf and me a very, very long time to understand each other, and we are still understanding each other. It's a neverending journey. At the same time, in general, I think that people have romanticized ideas of what a relationship is and try to force those ideas onto the other person, which is wrong. Even if you're a couple, you are still two individuals. You can't rely on that one person to be your "everything" because, let's be honest, that's a lot of responsibility and pressure for one person. There's life outside of your relationship, and you have to understand and respect that. Also, like Toast mentioned, it's finding the balance of being logical and taking into account the emotional, which is difficult to do. Of course, we don't know the whole story of what happened in their relationship, but it's good to know that Toast learned from it and is actively trying to change. That's extremely admirable.

This is very mature. And it is true for the most part that being "smart" shouldn't negate empathy especially for any relationship (romantic or not) to work. Knowledge is powerful, but being human should be the core purpose of that power. It's basically a power(position/authority e.g. being right all the time means you have more control and power) issue, like in our studies in social science, this is usually the case of authoritative leaders where their empathy and humanity are overshadowed by their power. So it's nice of him to admit to it and work on it.

It must hurt him to say that. I mean it is not easy to stay single especially knowing how much Toast cares for people. Well, Toast you can work on that "logical" part and then there will be a chance for you to date? associate with people? I think it is good that you know where you exactly come short with relationships and partnerships. I don't think it matters to be right but surely being right all the time can grow your ego .. it is tricky to navigate? For example, even if you found someone who don't mind you being right, what says you don't get fed up with them being naive or not like you or to your level?

@@BenefitCounterbench Well, I agree with all that, but the fact that there is a societal pressure has nothing to do with it being hard to be single. You should look for the right person for sure, but that does not mean your body and mind don't want someone to be with. It's more of a problem with the fact that most people crave a relationship because it's linked to our most rooted instincts, not because society says we need to. You should not rush into a relationship if the person is not right, but that does not mean it is easy to be single, because for most adults it is not.

@@monny1815 Society does pressure us to be with someone even when we're not ready because most people I know feel loser/failure when single. They're chasing relationships just for the sake of it, not because they have a certain crush or whatever. Love should be natural, but people force it to not stand out. I know a guy who can't stay single for more than a month, then he wonders why his relationships fail - because he jumps into new ones when he's still not over the previous one. But he says: "omg, I can't stay single, what will others think?"

I had a very similar problem with my ex. She would always call me out on lying and manipulation, but I never intentionally tried to do it. I never realized what I was doing and how negatively it affected our relationship. I felt we were doing great, but in reality I was acting like a total POS to her. I would never open up to anyone because i always felt like i annoyed anyone i talked to and felt like everyone secretly hated me so I tries not to ever make a lasting connection to them. I would never open up to her how I felt and I would bottle up all of my emotions and push it to the back of my mind. She was also the type to always be right. She realized it and tried working on it. When i was informed on what i was doing wrong i would work on it, but i would go back to doing it within a few weeks without realizing. And after the breakup I feel like an awful person for how I treated her. We are trying to stay friends, but we dont really talk to much anymore. All it is is her sending me tic toks and me reacting to them. I try and send her memes and videos that I know she would like, but she told me that she doesn't look at the video I send her. And after we broke up I still lived with her for a few weeks so I could move back in with my parents and she would always tell me to ask out a girl at a restaurant I go to frequently for my lunch because I confided in her that I believed that the girl might have a crush on me for stacking every discount on me even though I'm supposed to only get 15% off and I was the only one she does it to. She would do it just to make me mad she told me a few days before i moved out. I know now that i am not a good boyfriend and i honestly dont think i should be in a relationship until i can fix my problems. I made some friends that i can actually call friends at work and i am working on opening up to them, especially since I am going through a really tough time in my life (not relationship related). I talked to my ex about it because I needed to vent and she was giving me great advice and I'm going to take it if something does happen from my situation. Idk why I'm posting this honestly. I just feel like I need to get it off my chest to stress less over it

@@zippo718 it doesnt mean people should act inappropriately. Regadless of their fame or how open or known their private lives are there is still a line one shouldnt cross. Lets it be he is a public figure so it cant be helped that people know about his private life, like how you know your friend's or sibling's private life but you dont randomly bring it up at a party or whatever because its inappropriate no matter how close you are to that person. That goes the same to these people who let alone you dont know personally or even if you do feel close to them as a long time viewer. Please do stop normalizing the reaction of "oh this situation cant be helped because thats the way it is for a long time." @@zippo718 The popular people should be the ones to decide how much of their privacy they give away and how much they keep. If fans start digging into their lives in a way that wasn't intended(stalkers for example), the popular person doesn't deserve that since that's not part of the privacy they chose to give away. Another way of seeing it is like, the famous person pays their privacy to get popularity from fans, but some of the fans take more privacy than the famous person was willing to offer.

This actually sheds some possible light on my life. I'm in a similar situation. My sister, mom, and many friends all say that I'm always right and that it's great when it's useful but it can be really annoying because it means if they ever try to go against my thoughts they're probably wrong. I've learned when to stay quiet and let people have their own victories (being considerate over being right), but it's a slow process and it's hard to watch people be wrong when you know the correct answer or the best thing to do. I don't want to live other peoples lives, but sometimes I know the best thing to do and the other person doesn't, and that makes it difficult to exist. I let them fail, I feel bad, I tell them how not to fail, I still feel bad. Looking at my past relationships, I've definitely had the 'correct over considerate' mindset a lot, and I feel bad for many of the people who I dated and had to deal with that. Worse is that I felt like I wasn't the problem because I do everything right, but in reality being right is the wrong thing to do.

But I think about it Toast may be right and justified, but I think at the time, Janet’s opinions and thoughts is justified too. They just thought of things differently. Logic is important, but I feel like another thing is having a mutual respect for the other’s opinion even if you think they’re wrong. I’m not going to guess or theorize what actually went wrong in their relationship, but I do think base on Toast, one was being too logical in an argument and the other had their own opinions which she wanted Toast to understand and consider.
