I am in awe with the amount of time and work you have devoted to this subject. I wish you would narrate your books in an audio format, “in your own words”. That would be fabulous. I follow every clip or story I can get my hands on. The discovery of Dr. Hodel’s involvement with the other high profile serial killings, “Lipstick and Zodiac”, is just incredible to say the least. There are no words, no words. How heartbreaking to discover this about a family member and for it to be your own father. Mr. Hodel, you are brave and unselfish to share this personal tragedy with the public. You have in my opinion, answered the questions with substance and validity to a diabolical mystery that has puzzled every generation since this horrific murder. Keep going, you are amazing!!!

Quite frankly, I'm disgusted by the LAPD’s remarks. Sure, it means admitting there was some corruption in the past & it means saving face by avoiding it, but if you're our there to be a force for good - be a force for good. Steve, Is there any way the public can fundraise money for DNA testing on behalf of the victim? - or is that not allowed due to the case still being open? More than anything - I would rather the victims’ families get some peace.

Hi Charlie: EXACTLY SO. One of my favorite quotes is from Michael Connelly's Det III hero Harry Bosch where he say's, "The Department (LAPD) doesn't care about it. The department cares about the image, not the truth. And when the truth endangers the image, then fuck the truth." City of Bones, pg 266 by Michael Connelly. The only DNA testing I would trust would be from an independent lab. Too easy for LAPD to say, "OK, We tested it. Unable to find any DNA."

Hi Mr. Hodel, are you aware of the mention of Tamar Hodel in the book Weird Scenes Inside The Canyon authored by Dave McGowan?
@jesse9775 жыл бұрын
Hodel was friends with artist Man Ray. Check out Man Rays art. I think the murder was Inspired by it.
@stevehodel67164 жыл бұрын
Yes it was. They were good friends and Man Ray was our family photographer during his decade stay in Hollywood.

I'm so glad you posted this video, Mr. Hodel! I didn't get to see it when it aired. I have a couple of questions.. even though you (and I), Yvette, Rasha, and so many LAPD officials know that Dr. George Hodel committed this crime, do you know how much focus the LAPD of today is putting in to still investigating your father? It's just mind boggling how obvious it is that Dr. Hodel did this, and with your books presenting everything so clearly, I wonder what the LAPD is waiting for, so to speak. Secondly, what is the correct pronunciation of Tamar? You and your nieces definitely pronounce the name differently, and having an unusual name myself, I always notice something like that, so I just had to ask. I can't wait to start your third BDA book!
@stevehodel67165 жыл бұрын
LAPD is putting ZERO focus on the crime today. They cannot defeat the evidence so their position is "We do not have the time to prove or disprove Hodel's investigation. We are too busy with other solvable homicides." You are correct in the different pronunciations. They say TAmar, I say TAMar?
@ellece655 жыл бұрын
@@stevehodel6716 I seem to hear folks pronouncing your sister's name as Tam-AR, accenting the second syllable. I'm going with your pronunciation, since she was your sister and surely would have corrected you if you were mistaken. :)

Amazing who done it, drama. I believe Dr. G. Hodel do did it. However, when, how & where always intrigued me most?

Steve, I love all of your work on your father’s case. I’ve followed the podcasts and just finished the TNT series. Do you know if your father had any personal connection to Elizabeth Short? Was she a patient before she was his girlfriend or mistress?
@ArcaneWeasel5 жыл бұрын
Mr. Hodel, I have a question that I have been wanting to ask you for a long time. I believe your father’s wife June was instructed to destroy his possessions after his death. Shortly thereafter Miss June gave you a small photo album. Did you ever ask her what she disposed of and did she really honor his request with the exception of the photo album? Thank you, Kelly
@stevehodel67165 жыл бұрын
No, have had no contact with June since I informed her of my investigation and findings way back on Jan 15, 2003 in a four hour phone call. I don't know if she is living in U.S. or returned to Japan or? She desired no contact and my disclosure to her.

I expected that Miss June would be a “closed door” to the subject. It is hard to say exactly what she was privileged to concerning your father and Man Ray, including the forty plus years since the death of Elizabeth Short. In any case that part of his life will probably remain a secret. I might write to you again about this case, if I have any questions or thoughts I would like to share with you. Thank you so much for responding. Best wishes, Kelly

@@stevehodel6716 Mr. Hodel, what did she say about u investigating this case? It seems she wasn't very happy about it...did she tell u why exactly?!
@stevehodel67165 жыл бұрын
Her position was that "it was not possible". She was either knowingly or unknowingly in denial?
