Fuck you NBC News goddamn lying propagands. The al-Qaeda cell did not need to be infiltrated. What was needed was a massive, country-wide exposure of what was happening. I had all that information in detail. But try getting any kind of cooperation from these MF power crazy bastards in government and corporate media. DO NOT LISTEN TO CORPORATE MEDIA. I've been to the Ground Zero museum (April of 2011, very close to ten years later), where you can hear employee phone calls, 911 calls, emergency personnel radio communication, read letters, see timeline/breakdowns of the day, watch victim and family interviews, all that stuff. It's indescribable. I got lost in time. I lost track of time. People were looking for me for 20 minutes. I was so overwhelmed with emotion. You really get a sense of what it might have been like to experience what was happening that day, but with the knowledge that we've gained since then. We went to the church that miraculously survived the towers collapsing without any damage (I think it's called St. Paul's, sometimes referred to as "The Little Church That Stood"), where they still store gifts and tokens and show the aftermath. I broke down and bawled at the paper chains that were created by (I believe) students in Japan as a sign of unity. It is truly beyond words how there are people out there you don't even know who will do whatever they can to show support when faced with such tragedy.

I think that point, was when everything changed.

I was watching Today that day. Thought it was a prop plane and they would get it under control and started to go upstairs to get ready for work and my boyfriend yelled "another plane hit the other building!" I'm from PA- not sure what it felt like watching from across the country, but here it felt like we were under siege. One of the saddest most surreal days that's still hard to wrap my head around.

Leana Jo I had only been out a short while myself (Fort Jackson). I was in a small apartment with friends watching as the second plane hit. We were about a mile away from the Birmingham airport and could see and hear dozens of police vehicles heading in that direction. At this point we still didn’t know what was going on but we knew it was bad, real bad. We stayed glued to that tiny television for hours until we finally loaded up and went to the Red Cross where we were the last group to donate blood that night. I remember it like it was today. The restrooms had toilet seat protectors (it wasn’t common back then) and Domino’s Pizza had brought hundreds of free medium pizza certificates to hand out to people giving blood. We ate pizza for a week and stayed glued to the tv watching the events unfold that forever changed our country. I’ll never forget how I felt that day.

@RICHARD-mr8zh
@RICHARD-mr8zh 11 ай бұрын
Hello Justin. This is Richard Hack. After the segment was over, I went into journalist mode and went with the news crew down to the Twin Towers, and witnessed United flight 175 making a direct hit into the South Tower. We were about two blocks away at the time. My most vivid recollection from that day was standing directly in front of South Tower with the NBC News team led by correspondent Pat Dawson when the building collapsed. We were able to keep transmitting for several more minutes before being moved further from what was left of the building. That moment forever changed the world, and me along with it. FYI: The book, "Hughes," was what is known as an embargoed book, meaning it could not be sold in book stores before the morning of 9/11. Because of the attack, the subsequent 30-day book tour that would have taken me to 32 cities across the country, was cancelled. I remained in an enormous suite at the St. Regis Hotel with my neighbour Elizabeth Taylor--both of us held captive by the city's shutdown which continued for three more days. (Elizabeth was in town to introduce Michael Jackson for his two concerts at Madison Square Garden.) The book eventually was released and the press tour completed six weeks later than expected, The book remained on the NYT bestseller list for eight weeks, and is currently in its 10th printing. The feature film rights were optioned and "Hughes" was used as the source material for "The Aviator" starring Leonardo DiCaprio.and was nominated for 11 Oscars, winning five. Ironically, DiCaprio also starred in the film "J. Edgar" based on my bestseller, "PuppetMaster: The Secret Life of J. Edgar Hoover,

Also was there on 9/11, my abiding memory is of the silence on a usually bustling street and a woman sitting on a bench crying near Grand Central Station and seeing the beams of light from the site illuminate Manhattan as we waited to take off to go back home.Flying on 9/11 scared the hell out of me. Our teachers tried to keep us in the dark, but rumors were flying around about the Pentagon being on fire and they announced that no seniors were allowed to leave the building for lunch because of what was happening at the World Trade Center, so we knew something was going down. My mom had been on the phone with the school and they told her everything was okay. It was just sheer dumb luck that I got sick midway through the day and gave her the excuse she was looking for to come pick me up early.

I heard about it at school. I'm kind of glad they didn't keep us in the dark about it. Of course it was a high school so yeah, they probably wouldn't. I guess it was different with the younger kids. But I'm glad I got to process it as it was happening, instead of going about like things were the same as always when they weren't. I imagine it would kind of feel like you were living a lie for however long you were in the dark. But then, your a little kid so even if you are told about it immediately, you might not understand it. Was that what it was like for the younger kids? Did you all understand what was going on when you found out? Even as a young teenager, I still had a little trouble comprehending it at first. It didn't feel real in the beginning. Maybe I was in shock.

Candace Garrett didn't know didley, and I'm sure I speak for most kids who experienced the event,all I could remember that something horribly big happened in New York, and a feeling of fear because I lived in a apartment building at the time and even as a kid I would have thoughts in the back of my head "what if" type of ordeal where it could happen at any moment. I also remember seeing a tribute piece to the fire fighters who served on tv later that day.

I feel like 9/11 impacted everyone in the Northeast in some kind of way. My mom, aunt, and grandma all remember seeing Flight 93 fly over our town before crashing in Somerset. Not only that, but my dad was supposed to be flying into New Jersey that morning, thank god the flight was delayed. 10 years later, my dad was working as a fire fighter and got to meet the last man out of the WTC. It’s crazy that people across the country learn about what happened, whereas we all lived through it, or were affected by it.

I remember my mom had the Today Show on and when it happened she made my brother and I sit and watch it with her. I remember watching this so vividly because I loved watching about Howard Hughes and then it just. It hurts. It hurts every time. That such a simple day turned into this.

6:13 The end of carefree innocence right there. RIP the good ole days. Ever since 9/11 crap from all over the place has been happening. So sad. We just cant take anything for granted anymore.

My friends dad was supposed to be on one of the planes but ended up missing it by about 10 minutes. He got on the next flight but the plane couldn't land for a long while and he hadn't told his family that he missed the plane so for 2 days they thought he was dead.

I remember just starting 6th grade. Absolute silence at school here in California. Then I remembered my uncle (Godfather) was on his way home from a business trip in China. I had a panic attack on campus thinking that was his plane I came home to see my uncle was alive and well unpacking. I never wanted to let him go after.

God just think those were the Fords, Honda's, and Toyota's of 2014, except in 2001.. Can you imagine how cars are going to look in another 15 years?

dude464 The Car Max commercial, those were brand new cars. He's saying how much different and "modern" looking the 2014 version of those cars are compared to those; and how different cars will look in 15 years(same amount of time from 2001 to roday) compared to now. He's just observing something from the video. How the fuck can you not comprehend such a simple comment?

I remembered this day very well. I was working afternoon shift at Delphi Packard and was running some morning chores with my (then) 1 and a half year old son from Walmart. The radio station was interrupted about a second plane hitting the World Trade Center. I was wondering what was going on and rushed home to turn on the TV and was shocked to see what was on TV. I couldn’t get ahold of ANYONE when all of this was going on. I felt like the world was coming to an end and I was the only one watching it.
