rather than doing a normal playthrough, this time we do a deep dive into the lore and backstory of the new release, FLATHEAD. super weird game with very unique lore, definitely worth a few playthroughs, especially at the low entry price.

I dont rly get the story. Idk if it's rly possible to get the full picture, though. I think it's something like this. Whatever this organization is has discovered some kind of singularity, and that has manifested in the form of this place that plots your character existing at all times, future, past and present, or as the game says "Yesterday, today, and tomorrow". A part of the singularity, aside from the strange places you inhabit, is that before you started gambling on numbers, you found out that there's music eminating from this place that sounds like a spectrogram. In the spectrograms, you see images which in turn produce sounds (or maybe both the music and the images are one and the same, one log says that "everything we know about photons is about to change", so maybe light can carry sound here?). I think this music is entirely an auditory illusion housed in the listener's own brain, formed by and from their own memories, but when viewed as a spectrogram, something happens with the light that modifies how time behaves and it seems to create new memories or at least new images and sounds. You play as you set in the time: Today. You are running from the probability that time implodes on itself while you are trapped inside the singularity. This is represented by the watchers, which we learn are just versions of you from other times, so in the same way that you are trying to beat the chance that time imlodes, you are also trying to maintain today, this time. Why? I don't rly know. I think the voice logs we hear is your character from yesterday experiencing the slowing of time until it stops, and they say that it feels good, so maybe Today you is just trying to ride that feeling as long as they can. That's my theory. But ultimately, time catches up to you. You remember, which means you've heard all the music, which means you are progressing through time, which means, at some point, you become the you of tomorrow. The one who can escape the singularity, but to do that, you must let go of today, and the version of you trapped there. That's why you play as the hallway creature who can only be stopped by light. What does it mean for the Tomorrow you to be stopped by light? I think it's probably a butterfly effect thing. Maybe it's like you can't make contact with your Today self or else something disastrous happens, like the Tomorrow you is erased and the Today you remains (so you'd just have to start this journey all over again) or something worse. So you just wait until Today you can't see you, and since they can't see you, it's effectively like you are not emitting light into their eyes which could trigger a memory of you to them, which would be a memory of the future (seems like something that could break time itself, or at least your own mind.) So yeah. Time travel storyline where you or some other extrachronal entities make you remember stuff, but you gotta be careful not to remember tomorrow. Today was special.
