A Florida mother named Rachelle Smith is pleading for help after her 4-year-old son, Dexter, was abducted from day care by his father in August. Smith initially believed her ex had taken Dexter to Michigan, where Dexter has family, but the FBI informed her that they fled to Lebanon. Smith and her lawyer, Patrick Leduc, join Megyn Kelly to share her story.

April Noneya The judge was probably a man and believed like they did in the old days "he'll never do that again". Or it's his right to hit his kids with anything, and abuse them. Personally, I believe the judge should receive the same punishment, physically and verbally, for the rest of his life that those kids received from the father. Let's see how he likes it;

It says SO much about a person when they take their child away from a NON abusive parent, simply because they can't get along with them. It's literally one of the cruelest things you can do. The son will grow up, see this interview and hate his dad.

This just shows the major issues that are going on in family court. The fact that the father was allowed to have unsupervised visitation for a weekend for over 72 hours after breaking and entering and kidnapping is appalling. I hope she gets to see her son again like Sean Goldman. I wonder if David Goldman can help this family

What a nightmare!!! It seems to me like this happens quite a bit. I watched a movie with Sally Fields called " Not Without My Child" and that was based on a true story. I feel like you really should do your best at knowing the man/ woman you marry. Find out there religious beliefs and whatever else you can do to avoid being put in a terrible situation. Sadly it isn't easy to see that someone could do this and other things sometimes. Some of the religions don't value woman or even a mother child bond. And as I've witnessed through interviews like this the father takes the child to his family and doesn't really even take care of the child his family does and they are always on his side. So it's not like the dad would get stressed and overwhelmed enough to wave the white flag. His family most likely mother and sisters step in. It is so very selfish. Shame on the Lebonese government for not aiding in getting the child back to the mother. I feel like they don't respect the mother's rights and they must view a western woman very highly and thinks the child is better off with their bringing up. I can't imagine this happening to me it would be a living nightmare. Shame on you "father". You and others like you remain at my one of my top list of selfish parenting.

My first husband went to prison for domestic violence and when he got out and got off parole they gave him joint physical custody without him doing any parenting plans without him doing any anger management and parenting classes anyting..we were both to take parenting classes we are both to take drug test or both to do everything I did everything I was supposed to do it just continued and continued and continued..but now he had control in my life again control of the schooling situation control of everything and it just literally broke me...I'm talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars in attorney's fees and going back and forth to court having one to two trials per year...and all of his domestic violence and all of his child abuse and none of that was ever even an issue it was like I had fallen off and hit in my head and woke up in a new world where La breaking and everything else was just not even an issue...they picked apart every little thing with me which was so stupid and he would make these crazy wild allegations and it was my job to defend him and I did over and over and over again and it just finally got too much and I ended up getting sick with ulcerative colitis... And struggling with surgeries... Not to count the mental...

By the way I'm sorry you were raised without a father I'm not sure what the situation was... But in some cases no parent is better than an abusive parent..when you're talking about extreme abuse that's way worse than having a cutout father in your life.. have you not heard of all the women that died and domestic violence?? Have you not been watching the news of all the children that have been killed by abused by their own parents or mother's boyfriend recently??Horrific abuse is not something anyone has to live with or should live with...it's like playing Russian roulette to your child having no parents do you want to know why because if the abuser kills the abused the abuser goes to jail and the children are put in foster care and completely destroyed...and is this not what we're talking about is abusive parents getting rights to children so why wouldn't I be able to speak on my story??and if you don't like what I have to say to scroll past it but you have no right to attack me on here I hate all of you that just get on here and write whatever you want and don't think about the other person's feelings..you know there's a person behind the computer screen when you say evil things

Praying this sweet boy is being properly taken care of. As a mother, it makes me cringe when I try to imagine what it must feel like to have your own child kidnapped. My son being kidnapped is one of my biggest fears. I literally run to his room every morning and sometimes let him fall asleep watching tv in my bed. Being a mother is the one job that can make any woman crazy, whether you're doing it alone or not. As far as the lawyer, kudos to you for professing your faith on public television. Pressure today means persecution tomorrow. Also, kudos to the program and show for airing it and not cutting that clip. As far as the mother, we don't know what the "secret" is but I'm praying it has nothing to do with the child. Praying for the dad as well (as we are to pray for our enemies), praying that he comes to his senses and realizes this child needs his mother as well as he needs a mentally healthy father. Continuing to pray for the justice system as well.

How did he get a passport for Dexter? In Australia both parents have to be there to apply for and sign a passport application for any minor Then the government calls both parents after the application, plus two witnesses, to confirm both parents are authentic and on board with the application. Both parents have to take a tonne of identification with them on application, two of which must be photo id, preferably their own passports. It's an incredibly difficult process. Thank goodness!!
@patrickleduc8689
@patrickleduc8689 5 жыл бұрын
Nicole: Thought you deserved a response. Mr. Salamey forged her signature on the passport application that has both signatures on one page. No witness is required. Unfortunetely, the Notary did not pay attention to detail, and notoraized the father's signature (and Mr. Salamey later forged the mother signature). Thereafter, he took a court order that had granted full custody to Ms. Smith, and changed the wording (jokingly bad) to reflect that custody had been granted to him over the mother. There were three seperate court orders that neither party could obtain a passport. The Lebenease consulate in Detrriot has admitted that the issuance of passports in this case was in error. Presently, there are several warrants for Mr. Salamey's arrest, as well as as several show cause orders as to why Mr. Salamey should not be found in contempt. Mr. Salamey has attempted to put out a story on facebook that suffice to say, is completely false in every single respect. Sad part is that too many people here (not you) makes comments without knowing the entire picture. It is not widely known, but Mr. Salamey's father kidnapped Mr. Salamey's half sibliings to Lebanon in 1992. The apple does not fall far from the tree. Respectfully

Patrick Leduc . Thankyou so much for your response, Patrick. I'm impressed with how much you have studied this case. What a joke! He was able to manipulate the system in every way. I feel for the Mother and Son here. Unfortunately, it is all too common. Once these criminals reach Lebanon or Saudi Arabia or many other countries with Sharia law the are protected. It is very difficult to recover a child/children and very difficult to prosecute. I would never recover, it's hard enough to have custody issues when both parents stay in the same state or country.

Dear Meghan and Rachelle, this same thing happened to me in 2000 with two young children and the passport program that’s now in place wasn’t in place at my time ! But the program only is effective for Canada and Usa passports only mine was given Pakistani passports and flew out of JFK illegally ! In these Middle East countries and Muslim countries there are no effective extradition laws for these men

In situations like this.. Mom has to use "the secret." Dad should take responsibility and return home.

It’s possible there is another man in her life and he does not want his son raised or influenced by another man. Culturally most middle eastern men are very serious about their families and children.

I would Divorce my Husband and get sole custody of our children, because we all know that the Judge Favors the mother, also He'll only have supervised visitation rights to see the children, it would be at the courthouse under the watchful eyes of a Social Worker, I would have the Social Worker either write or Tape Cassette Record everything They did, said, Etc. Etc, I would have Food and Library Books delivered to the courthouse, He won't see them on Holidays, He won't be allowed any phone calls or write letters, or no-one in his Family isn't allowed to deliver any letters.

Christopher Terry, there has been. I followed one story for years where a man’s wife took their son on “vacation” to visit her family. Once there, she stayed, remarried, and unfortunately died after giving birth to her second child. It took years after the mother’s death for the dad to regain custody of his own biological son. I’m sorry I can’t remember their names off the top of my head, but a google search will bring up that and many similar stories. Another woman took her and her husband’s three children(2 boys & a baby girl), and ran to her country claiming abuse. The father was finally reunited with the two older boys who stated their father never abused them or their mother. Unfortunately, the daughter was very young and had no memories of her biological dad. It’s messed up! 20/20 followed the first story I mentioned for MANY years. The dad mainly stays out of the spotlight now and is just raising his son, but he does advocate for other parents in similar situations.

Lulu Oh I don't know but there are two sides to every story. She seems to be hiding something. Notice when she says that he wants her to admit to something then she tried to backtrack her words suddenly? The child's father has posted photos of official police documents and the child's scared face allegedly from the mother's domestic violence against the boy among other things. He has tried to speak his side but no one wants to be associated with him because of the way he took his son. Who knows where the truth is. In the end, it's a personal matter. I just feel bad for that precious boy.

What was the point of this interview? This poor woman will never see her child again. There is no recourse for her but to pray. I'm a person of faith, but praying is not going to bring her child back from that psychotic father. The justice system failed her and now she will likely never see her son again.
