My favorite Todd Snider story and song to go with it. A perfect response.
@TheBullitt666 Жыл бұрын
In Italy we follow Todd a lot also thanks to a monthly musical of Gallarate/Varese, "Buscadero", which allowed us to get to know him as soon as his first formidable album "Songs for the Daily Planet" was released. Personally, I have his entire discography on CD and his disks are often in the drawer of my player or my computer. Some think that his most recent albums are not up to the first ones, but I think instead that work after work, his greater maturity combined with the suffering that I have read he has encountered in his life, make him an excellent artist. My days are marked exclusively by American folk/rock/countryrock with some Canadian additions, and Todd has had a place of honor in my daily listening for years. When I listen to it in the car, my mind flies very high and despite being on an Italian road, I have the impression of being around the States. Thanks for your music Todd and.....keep it up 😉

@jonianddanbowen45334 жыл бұрын
In some performances by Todd Snider I have seen on KZbin, I get the impression, he performs his music, tells his stories because it absorbs him otherwise- he just wants to share it. But do you think he gets what a rare, incredibly talented guy he is? Does he know how nice it is not to see a cookie cutter copy of whatever is popular at any particular moment? He is a real person who sings about real things. Love him like I love John Prine and I LOVE John Prine.

He gets it but he doesn't get it at the same time. In the big scheme of things, there's only a few of us that get Todd. 50 years from now, he'll have way more recognition. Such is life.

Then today I saw something recent and noticed the difference in just 7 years and thought man something is not well. Why is it that all the beautiful, genius and creative people have the worst experiences with getting by? I hope life eases up on you Mr. Snider. Sending you peace and love & thanks for your art. Mrs. Peabody taught us "The Crawdad Song" right outta the gate in second grade, and we all had a good ol' time singin' it together there. "You gotta line, an' I gotta pole, honey..." Revisiting that little ditty now, with its universal theme of you got somethin' I need, an' I got somethin' you need, I'm thinkin' it's got nothin' to do with fishin' a'tall. Mrs. P. musta missed the parental advisory boat there, I guess.
