Three of my favorites all in one video: top water fishing, monster hook sets, & double digit bass. I wish Strike King would bring back the king rat. I bought 20 back in the mid 2000's and only have 3 left. I have caught over 15 bass between 8-11 lbs. on that lure.

Man, I love the content! Been a fan since I watched Zona introduce you on Strike King Fish Hard way back when. Nothing beats a frog bite. PERIOD! I won’t ever forget you telling Zona that when you swing on ‘em that you’re trying to break your rod, your line, your reel, everything. You got me doing the same thing. Dude, I try to BRING THE PAIN on all my frog hooksets! Keep up the stellar work, Castledine!

After the fourth miss on the blow ups. I don’t like that colour. Lol . I have that problem too. Getting a proper frog rod helped but I’m still missing a lot. I wish they’d reconfigure the hooks for top water frogs so hookup percentage increase on blowups.
@toddcastledinefishing59244 жыл бұрын
It was crazy though after I switched colors never had another one miss. I could tell something was wrong. The FROG ROD is the most important thing, I think most people don't have the right one. In most cases I'd say my frog bite is better than most other topwater bites. I think a lot has to do in the action of why they miss it. If you figure out the right action and SOUND you almost never miss them.
@frankleaney62674 жыл бұрын
Todd Castledine Fishing hopefully some day I’ll get there but now, with the frog rod, I’m 50/50. I’m going to try the colour thing though, thanks 🙏

I'm curious why you didn't change to a Sexy Dawg or buzzbait after the first couple misses on the Popping Perch? Obviously you didn't need to but I would have tried a spook and buzz. What made you stay with the frog?
@toddcastledinefishing59244 жыл бұрын
They always eat the frog I caught the first 2 and only missed one and the other I lost. I knew it was just a fluke thing, and its a prespawn thing so they never really eat that good anyways. I knew as the day progressed fish always bite better that time of year.

@toddcastledinefishing59244 жыл бұрын
I never worry about what a rod says that rod is perfect I have 6 of them and fished with them for over 6 years and never broke one. You can see how hard I set the hook, its just perfect.

Do you have any past videos explaining your hook set theory? What I mean by that is the ol 5 count before setting the hook on a frog idea. Are you trying to feel them on first or anything or just jacking them if you know/see they have it? 2nd question on the 10 how many casts/minutes elapsed from first bite to the 2nd bite, to the bite that she came to the boat. I think that was a valuable moment to talk on how long you should fish for a missed blowup (I see In Your case you kept catching fish stacked there that makes it easier) but do many people give up on a missed frog bite too soon? It’s not often I get a frog fish to bite again after she felt some of the hook set. But my lake is so pressured they’re usually too scared to eat the frog the first bite anyway and just slap at it.
