As a 10-year-old, I was beaten by a high-school boy on the NYC streets. It was early morning, and I was headed to school with my 8-year-old sister in tow. The beating took place at the entrance to the subway, with many adults around. Most continued on their business, the others stopped to watch, but did nothing to help. Guess they were taught not to get involved and, more than likely, have passed that mentality down to their offspring. I was fortunate to not be injured any more than I was and managed to find my way back home. I reported the incident to the school, they tracked him down and said they would take care of it. I doubt anything was done. If anyone sees an injustice, please make a call or a move -- no matter how small.

Good morning, Dr. Grande! this was a rather strange case. I would like to know exactly what Jason and his mother argued about that night and how that would have set him off to consummate his "relationship" with Chantel, especially when she was presumably ill. Furthermore, the intensity of his violence to her and her parents illustrates, as you have suggested, that Jason's frustrations had been building up within him for a long time and only now exploded. I am not sure about how the necrophilia plays into all of this, as well as his continued stabbings of Chantel and her parents after they were clearly dead because of his initial attacks on them. Trying to clean up the scene after he was done, as well as having his unsubstantiated alibi and various excuses for the cuts on his hands suggests that he was not in some sort of mental funk and that he simply couldn't decide upon a story and keep to it. But that seems to be common enough among criminals, especially if they are amateurs. But what I find most interesting is that people sought to judge him by his letters of apology. I had no idea that so many people are qualified handwriting analysts! But then, I think that handwriting analysis is another branch of pseudoscience, and that Jason simply wasn't overly "book smart" and learned to write up to better educated levels.

I wrote that before hearing you comment on it. I agree that it’s *probably* trivial but it just jumps off the page. And it’s so pronounced that I do wonder if he was experiencing some kind of gender dyspeptic that made him unhappy.

I guess I can’t be too certain Patsy Ramsey wrote the ransom note, then, although the language and insider information also point to the family, or at least someone who knew them well. I have also seen males with surprisingly “girly” handwriting.

You need to seriously read up and research on the Liver King denying steroids publicly over the last few months, and deconstruct his apology video after being found out this past week. It’s seriously bananas.

Yh I see one of the 1st things he made clear, before apologising, was how rich, and well he was living. A NARCISSISTIC guy IMHO. It was so obvious he was on juice. But I think his excuse for lying, was something about stopping young men from commiting suicide 🤷🏽♂️ A very egotistical guy, at the very least. I wonder if now, he just carries on eating raw testicles and liver on camera.. ✌️✌️✌️🙏

I heard of and saw this liver boy first time on H3 podcast, just before the steroids affair blew up and I thought there and then he's a hustler. Entertaining none the less.. funny guy.

I knew people very close to this girl and her family. It was brutal and shocked everyone. Having met one of the officers involved, he said it was the worst crime scene he had ever seen. By the way, it's pronounced Ka-pun-da... like a bad pun. Locals believe that Jason did not work alone. They suggest he is covering for his brother - but this is hearsay. The neighbour was on the News saying that he heard it but didn't want to get involved in a domestic violence situation. Ugh!!!! Friends close to the family are still struggling with the loss. Jason's mother is devastated and no longer contacts him - understandingly

His upbringing enabled him to do this horrific crime. I hope his parents have been stigmatized for raising someone who has no value for life other than his own. Society is also at fault for allowing courts to diminish the value of victims’ lives by handing out such lenient sentences. The damages of losing such good people are incalculable to a functioning society. His letter was most likely at the behest of his parents, who realize they contributed to this terrible tragedy, as well.

Wow. We lived in small-town NZ for 8.5 years. 5000 people. We were kind, loving, giving and generous. I accidentally hurt one person while there and apologised to the best of my ability, and took responsibility for my stupidity, but that was just before we left, when we were extremely stressed and traumatised. People who'd lived there forever had no issue being vicious and not allowing us to fit in, literally trying to split our happy marriage and also hating each other behind each other's backs, while smiling at each other. We had to save our dog by rehoming him because, we found out later why his behaviour went funny - two local lads would come onto our section (during school time) when I went out and beat him. They were caught one day and told to vamoose, but we were never told until it was too late. We loved our dog so much. It was all so confusing. Like a group-think situation. We moved to a small city and the relief of finding genuine people has been palpable for us. The fact that Australian town worked at accepting him is so admirable. I'm so sorry for what happened to these people. So very sorry.

@@strwbrywoman You obviously need a dictionary - like the people in the small town who got mad at me for using "big words" - that were three syllables long. I said what I meant. I'm sorry if that goes over your head. 😊

The Kitty Genovese case in New York in the sixties was/has always been the "poster child" case for people NOT calling, and it was the "go-to" example for DECADES. BUT (AND IT A BIG BUT) there's a "flip side" to MOST of these cases. Abuse relationships usually have a long history (perhaps not in this particular case) so all these comments about "call the cops" often begs the question: after dealing/tolerating/enduring the impenerable stupidity of most CO-DEPENDANT relationships, why blame the neighbours for not calling in?? They're put up with it for years.
