I remember talking to a person at work about a murder of some child and he was saying how the police, had charged the child's intellectually disabled uncle. I was a bit suspicious about this. But my co-worker said "but they got him to confess and he failed a polygraph" Yeah.... Never talk to the cops even if you are innocent.

Yes as a true crime buff for at least 40 years it seems once the hammer is in the cops hands everything is a nail. Never talk to them. I got out of a perjury case once by refusing to discuss one damn thing without a Lawyer. I took a class twice one year to get rid of two tickets when only one was allowed. They were after the lady running the class and they got her. She would take the money and let you skip the class.

@@Richard.Hybels and the cops will continue to hit the nail they believe is the right one, and I've seen so many cases where they flat out ignore new evidence if it contradicts what the scenario they have in their head is. It's a major shame, and it's really sad.

Gosh even as far back as when I was in college circa 1991 it was known polygraph tests were unreliable and had nothing to do with telling the truth. I thought they were not admissible in court? Anyways , never talk to the cops is spot on. And ironically, that's exactly what Brian and his parents are doing and so many people are flat out chastising them. That's exactly what I would do and advise anyone else I knew to do.

This lady works with my wife, and she is a total angel. She has moved on with her life and works to help others who have been falsely accused. She is a great person and it makes me sad to know this type of thing can happen to anyone. Crazy to think they were able to convict her with absolutely no evidence whatsoever.

The prosecution success in the US, for any crime that goes to trial, is over 98%. I think it shows alot. IDK why anybody speaks to Police without a lawyer, or agrees to a Polygraph these days? You are literally fighting the unlimited finances and connections of an entire State. Also a reason many innocent ppl just take deals, knowing they have less than a 2% chance of winning.

@@tankthearc9875 After watching a lot of his videos I haven't noticed a bias myself. However, I immediately thought the same thing about her clothes. This is the problem with circumstantial evidence: one assumption (the veracity of Jeff's testimony) builds on more assumptions (the veracity of the timeline) and you end up with "certainty" based on a weak chain of assumptions. A chain of even likely assumptions ads up to a potentially flawed assessment. I was also thinking that if Jeff was drunk, he might not even notice a change of clothes. Bikers and their girlfriends often wear all black, fairly non-descript clothing. I still think there's reasonable doubt. But she's the best suspect.

Side story many years ago, me and my brother were working at a gas station. Money was missing so we all had to take lie detector tests and tell our story. So it turned out money was missing on the same shifts my brother was working so he was fired. But I know for a fact he never stole 1$ from the station!

We didn't know anything about rights and laws for lie detector tests. The owner was very tight with money for sure. We had to count cash and inventory everything at closing. I can understand it. Authority figures constantly speak to it's veracity, as do mainstream media and people like Dr Phil. I'm pretty well informed and although I've known for years they weren't reliably accurate and were inadmissible in courts, if it wasn't for my increasing interest in true crime, I never would have come across the truth regarding polygraph: that they're pretty close to being a scam. You have to keep reminding yourself of the nebulous nature of informational networks. Plenty of people have no interest in true crime, so why would they know? As a side note, scientists have been experimenting with MRI scans as lie detectors, and they very well may be reliable lie detectors because humans engage certain areas of the brain when lying. By mapping the electrical activity, researches have had some pretty amazing results detecting lies.

I was all ready for you to say that you deemed her guilty in reality, but I'm glad you didn't. I agree. She *might* be, but she just didn't have much of a motive and how on Earth could someone so drunk clean herself up without leaving any trace of her cleaning efforts (like wet taps or any remnant connecting her to the crime specifically)? I doubt someone in that state could even dispose of the items secretly, which is the easier of the two things. The time window isn't too narrow if the house was being observed.

yeah aundria, i've never heard of this case until this video so i know nothing. but i'm kind of with you, i could possibly see her dealing with some clothes & getting rid of some shit, but how hard would it be to have NO dna/blood on you, not one little spec. i don't see it. and damn, i've never thought of that whole dry faucet thing, think how instinctual it would be to run a little water to at least wash your hands. i mean i guess she had a hot tub so maybe she was brilliant...except that she's not. and she was wasted, i don't see her pulling that off. i also don't see this 90 minute window being that unbelievable, especially since we're dealing with stalkers.

It's a shame that she had to go through that. I've had to deal with false allegations and an arrest in my past and it's a pretty rough thing to go through. Mine was a sexual assault charge and, let me tell you, you really find out who your friends are and who has your back when something like that happens. I agree with your recommendation of being motivated to not excessively consume alcohol because one is more likely to be falsely accused of homicide by law enforcement when intoxicated. That should be taught beginning at a young age.

I am not a lawyer, but was under the assumption that most criminal cases in most jurisdictions allow the defendant to choose between bench and jury trials. Hindsight is usually 20/20, but in this case it seems her choice was wrong.

@@rachaelhume1818 In Florida the defendant can choose between a bench or jury trial, but I think the prosecution has to agree to it(?), which of course they almost always will. Defense lawyers usually recommend going with the jury. I don't know why the trial Judge didn't enter a J.O.A. (Judgement of Acquittal) when the prosecution rested, if he believed that they hadn't met their burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt (?) Also, I believe the trial Judge can override a jury's guilty verdict if the evidence was insufficient to support a conviction (?) They can't override a jury's not guilty verdict, however bogus it may be. (I'm not a lawyer, my fairly extensive layperson knowledge is based on doing the (voice) narration on numerous non-fiction audio books, documentaries etc)

Hi Doctor. I would like you to take a look at the Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito case from the stand point of their emotions. Why did they break off their engagement just before their trip ? What a strange thing to do. Was it mutual or was it one of them who insisted on this ? We know they were fighting in Moab and Brian lost his cool in the Wyoming restaurant. Did this upset Gabby a lot or had she already told him it was over and he started unraveling ? Did she tell him it was over and he couldn't take it and murdered her ? I have some ideas!💡 1: she killed him BEFORE she went out 2: she had help, ie: getting rid of blood stained clothing & murder weapon, maybe manipulated someone to kill him while she was away 3: she had an identical set of clothing. 4. She had ' acquired, ' a "body double", who wore the same clothes as her , had the same build and possibly the same hari colour, & wearing a motorbike helmet, but was careful to only be seen with the bike helmet on- covering her face, while she either came or went , that wld explain the unknown female voice that one of the witnesses said he heard that night. These are just a few theories & ideas Ive thought of, concerning this case. I love to think outside the box, I guess I always do , as in my mind, there IS no box !!! The only limits you have, are the ones you place on yourself, so I've chosen to be limitless! I've listened to ton of your videos and always enjoy. one common theme I notice is most if. not all of these people are drunk, high on something or both. it really makes me wonder how many of these horrible crimes could have been avoided if people were not out of their minds. I am not anti alcohol but I do think when people abuse it which is all the time that disasters happen. there are very few things in life that disinhibit people the way alcohol does. it almost makes me wonder if people drink because they want that out of control feeling so that when they do something awful even if they get caught they can ease their minds by saying it wasn't ME.

I've seen enough true crime stories to confirm that one should never talk to the police without an attorney and even had a LE friend confirm that. But now I would agree that one should not talk to the police at all, as Dr. Grande states, to force them to actually investigate. It's sad, but I used to be so trusting and naïve and would trust any LE officer to not want to hurt or take advantage of me, but I recognize the truth that it's not LE's job to be considerate of potential criminal suspects.
