Nichol obviously has issues. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if she manipulated the whole situation unintentionally. Saying things like, "go be with your kids" is a manipulation tactic by an insecure person to put someone in a position where they have to choose them over someone else. When my wife and I separated, I starting dating a girl I went to high school with. One night I got a text from her asking me to meet her at the bar, even though she knew it was my night with my daughter. She got all salty when I said no, and tried manipulating me into doing what she wanted by putting me in a position to choose her or my daughter. Unfortunately for her, I'm not a moron. I told her point blank that she would not come before my daughter that night, or any other night...ever. That was the end of that relationship, and I'm glad I got out as fast as I did!

Everyone overlooks that her long time friend Jim came from out of town to stay in her apartment with her when watts decided he had to kill his family. THAT is what created the sense of psychotic urgency in his mind that he was going to lose Nicole. I am sure she used her relationship with her friend Jim, and the fact that he was coming to stay with her, in her apartment to get Chris jealous. Because he went out of town with Shannan so she had to show him what that felt like. That is how things like this happen. She appears to be an average looking girl but it seems like Chris Watts put her on a pedestal, which was probably an ego boost for her. I think Watts’ major difficulty is that he had been dominated by a strong mother who insisted he think, feel, and behave exactly as she demanded, and he did. He could barely think for himself, and basically did as he was told. He had no real substantive relationships with women until he got with Shannan, and he brought his unresolved baggage from childhood with him. He could have worked through this with Shannan, but he wasn’t really cognizant of it. When Nikki came onto him, he perceived she was allowing him to be himself, and he idealized her as the perfect female nurturer for himself. Unfortunately, his ugly inner conflicts surfaced, and Shannan became the symbol of the evil controlling, rejecting, and suffocating female he had hated deep down his whole life. He was willing to kill to be free of that hell, and he did. Sadly, it was senseless and heartless, and it solved nothing. He’s no closer to understanding himself now than he ever was.

I found this to be a really interesting take on things. Particularly when you spoke on their immaturity. I found them both to be extraordinarily childish in their interviews. They were both inarticulate and even used a lot of similar "valley girl" type vernacular. I saw an older version of Chris Watts speaking to a group of people about (of all things) how to keep your marriage alive and happy. In that video he spoke with a southern accent and never used the word "like" which he and Nichol did incessantly during their interviews. And while I don't believe she had anything directly to do with the murders, I can't help but weigh in on the female side of things. In one of their last text messages he let her know that he wouldnt be able to see her for a while since Shan'Ann was coming home, to which she responded: "That's fine. I have my other guy friends to hang out with. You do what you have to do." As a female, I find that to be a mind game. I think she _was_ pushing him, and he panicked. It certainly would explain the poor planning and the hurried murder. I guess we'll never know, but I think they're both cold as stone. You know what they say about like minds... I mention this because after finding out about what happened, she Googled something about a book deal and Amber Frey's share in that deal. To me, that's ice cold timing. Thanks, Dr. Grande. 👍

I have just finished reading the book "The Perfect Father", by John Glatt, which describes the events of June-August 2018 in great detail. I think that Shannan's 6-week stay in North Carolina allowed the affair between Nichol Kessinger and Chris Watts to develop and flourish in her absence. Until I read the book, I wasn't aware that Shannan had gone with the kids to her family's home in North Carolina for 6 weeks, giving the NK-CW affair to explode and compel the two participants into an out of body orbit. If there had not been that long separation, I think the affair would have had a much slower pace and would not have been as exciting for them. They would have had to deal with Chris's family life, which would interfere with the affair, and they would constantly have to juggle those demands, plus always having the stress of secrecy. But the intense experience of the affair without the presence of Shanann and the kids in the background created a fairy tale feeling so intense that upon the return of Shanann, Chris was overwhelmed with the reality of his life with a woman he no longer loved. He probably felt cheated and betrayed by life...he was shown a version of (to him) paradise, the way things could be, but oh no, that's not going to happen. It's back to the daily grind of Shannan and the kids. But evidently he realized that he was not going to put up with it, and took the ghastly steps to get rid of his family. He didn't even wait, try to give it time, see how things worked out with the separation, go ahead with the divorce and wait to restart his affair with Nichol. Nope! As soon as Shanann and the kids were home he became desperate and wasted no time in getting rid of them.
@MegaTc854 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. In his prison interview he said something like he was able to forget what it was like having a family for those weeks they were away. Having young kids is very tough, they demand all your attention. Then add in that he knew he had another child on the way. He wanted those weeks of freedom to continue. I think the murders were impulsive. This case is so fascinating and so so sad.
@joanneblack76973 жыл бұрын
Ah, Pamela Harvey, the immaturity of these two (Chris and Nicole) was really highlighted to me by your phrase "If there had not been that long separation ..." i.e. Shannan and kids went away for 6 weeks. That's a heck of a short amount of time, really, to be separated. You'd think she was away for 6 months or a year. No excuse for them not subpoenaing her cell phone records to review the deleted messages. Didn't he send a text, "It's done." Why didn't they push harder, look in her apartment, check out her Wiccan religion, and the drug induced rituals she took part in and which I believe Chris had begun to participate in. The affair was the number one reason this happened. Having to pay child support for three children was not an option and was the number two reason. They were already heavily in debt. I feel Nicole's part in this was the major contributing factor. She knew exactly what she was doing. Googling "dating a married man who leaves his wife for his mistress" shows the depth of her knowledge. Another factor involved is the passive/aggressive factor that Chris used. He appears as a very passive, easy-going father and husband until he meets up with Nicole. She is able to empower the aggressive side of Chris that was hidden up until then. We may never really know how much N.K. knew, but I do believe she was aware of a lot more than she is admitting.

@@kittymervine6115 yes. I was watching some footage from Chris's interrogation, and there was a moment where the detectives leave the room to allow Chris to speak 'privately' with his dad. Chris then latches on to the story the detectives fed him ("did Shannan do something to the girls, and then you felt you had to do something to Shannan?"-- common interrogation technique to get the suspect admitting little by little, but of course Chris is so utterly stupid that he thinks he can pass off what the detectives themselves made up, as "what really happened") When his father enters and they start talking, Chris of course feeds his dad that bullshit about him stumbling in on Shannan killing his girls, and he "panicked and did the same thing to her" (laughable, zero people are dumb enough to believe that). And then he goes on to say to his dad, "Mom always said she was a nasty, evil person, but I never thought in a million years she could do this" Chris knew in the back of his mind that his parents disapproved of his wife for whatever reason, and maybe even resented the girls. I believe his parents spoiled him and made him believe he could do no wrong in the world, and that somewhat influenced his narcissistic personality and behavior.

Stephanie Jacob I agree! CW jumped at the chance to claim the idea that Tammy suggested that Shannan killed the girls. Even though this was highly improbable it allowed him to claim he acted out of rage at the murder of his girls. This would allow him to save face and divert the guilt of the murder to Shannan.. He didn’t care that he would further damage Shannan’s image and reputation. He just wanted to save himself and his image at any cost! I also understand why Tammy had to offer this idea to get him to give up the location of the girls. They were running out of time and had they not located them when they did they might have never retrieved them. It was a difficult option but one I think the detectives had to try in order to get the bodies while some evidence remained or just to give the family some kind of closure.

People need to realize that the only reason she was not charged is because Chris pleaded guilty almost immediately, to everything. The police went through this womans phone(search history, etc). This is still upsetting us more than 2 years after it happened, & people still can’t let go of this! All of our frustration & anger towards NK would probably die down if the cops had given her a lie detector test; I can’t imagine why they never did. But enough of this. The cops & CBI felt she wasn’t involved directly in this tragedy so we really need to let this go. I’m NOT making light of this tragedy, & I once was the adultery’s wife so I am particularly sensitive & outraged when things like this happen. BUT, have a joke to tell. I think a little levity might help us. all. One evening, a wealthy CEO is having dinner with his wife at a very classy restaurant. In the middle of dinner a tall, beautiful blonde woman comes to their table & kisses the man right on the lips, then departs, saying: “I’ll see you later”, as she walks away. The wife is dumbfounded & asks her husband who that woman was. He replied, “Oh, that’s Sandy, my mistress!” The wife is outraged and screams that she’s going to divorce him. The husband doesn’t bat an eye & says, “You can do that if you want but remember, you’ll have no more credit cards. You will have to leave the mansion & find another place to live; no more trips to Hawaii, Cancun or the French Riviera, or skiing on Vale, no more trips to Paris for cloths shopping.” The wife is silent for a few minutes, when suddenly her husband’s COO comes into the restaurant with a gorgeous redhead, (his wife is a brunette). The wife says, “who is that with George?!!” Her husbands responds, that’s George’s mistress, Helen!” The wife is silent for a few minutes, visibly shaken. Suddenly she says, “Our’s is prettier!”

She obviously has no shame about her actions. She had her Dad there in her first interview and the second. They discussed a lot of very private information and NK never seems to mind a bit! He Dad never indicated he was bothered by it either. I can’t imagine wanting your Dad involved in an investigation where the x-rated details of your private life is being discussed. To me that says a lot about her. She has no shame in her behavior or the consequences of it! She sees nothing wrong with her actions and considers herself a victim! At one point she even slips and says “I am so disgusted...with him!”. There was a slight pause where you think she will take some kind of ownership in her bad choices but she has to push all the blame to CW as usual!

Having listened to NK's interview with the detective and watching this video, I feel like I've achieved a whole new level of understanding, especially concerning the power differential. Thank you Dr. Grande for your in-depth explanation not only of the power differential that possibly existed and if so, was most likely a driver in the tragic events following the affair's stage of passionate romance, but the movement or progression of the affair, which I kind of believe may have just begun a transition from the passionate stage to one of "duty or obligation" to each other, meaning they were concerned with the sale of the house and Chris finding an apartment. Reality is beginning to push it's ugly self into their romantic passion. Given both partners' immaturity and Chris' questionable judgment along with the increasing pressure he was feeling about NK, and his tendency toward impulsivity (using a joint credit card in his marriage at a dinner with NK, knowing Sha'nan would see it) it becomes almost understandable that he would react in a violent and ultimately tragic way. I do disagree on one area. NK was checking out the Watts family life on FB before the affair was ever initiated. This seems to be stalking behavior and brings up some interesting questions yet to be addressed. Perhaps a look at NK's background, her personal choices, did she have a successful relationship prior to meeting Chris Watts and if so, why did it end? I may be completely wrong about some of her motives, but she did come across in the police interview as a bit of a "gas lighter." Both to the detective and certainly on occasion with Chris Watts. Thoughts anyone?

Chris sad enough reminds me of my ex and this story is confirmation to me that I wasnt crazy and I truly survived living with a covert narcissist/psychopath. I dont think he murdered his family because he needed to get rid of them in order to be with Nicole. It has more to do with hidden rage and extreme low self esteem. I think he was secretly enraged towards Shanann because she came across to me as a strong straight forward woman with emotions and feelings and Chris having none of that and on top of that knowing that he needs her in order to emotionally survive, became tortured by it. His family began to become too much of an confrontation with his empty self. He secretly started hating/envying them because of that. Nicole was becomming his new supply for his fragile ego. All the crap lies he tells about wanted to be with Nicole is just a distraction and lie from his true motivation and in his mind makes him look better than he really is.

Why was her dad in this interview with her. I wonder if her parents had always taken care of problems in her life for her. This might also have been the reason she feels so empowered, as she was able to get support when she was actually in the wrong.

I am interested in how the relationship between Chris Watts and his seemingly overbearing mother affected his personality and decision making. It seems that he learned from an early age to be submissive to controlling women, (and to others), to suppress his own wants and needs in order to be accepted, and that may have played a role in his developing (hidden) narcissism, and also in the lack of compassion, remorse or empathy that surprised everyone when it emerged after the murders. In effect, it's as if he played a 'role' up until several stressors pushed him to act in this horribly regrettable way. I believe it is possible that a good deal of the reason he did this lies in his relationship with his mother.

He's not a man with creative ideas or ambition. He's not smart. But he's easily manipulated, and this woman is highly manipulative (listen to her interviews with police, if you haven't yet). This doesn't mean he was a victim of her. But it means that in addition to his 100% guilt, someone prompted him to do it. She is crafty and sneaky - asking him to listen to songs with lyrics about murdering one's family, for example. Making him choose between her and his kids, another example. Saying she wanted to give him his first son, knowing his wife is pregnant with a son, another example. It goes on and on. She wrapped him around her finger very knowingly. And then her phone pinged near his house the morning of the murders, although she lives a half hour away. Repeat: the wee early morning hours of the murders, and her cell phone is on the move, not at her home, not at her place of work. What does this *mean?*

Even his original confession wasnt an original idea it was fed to him by his Dad. I think a psychiatrist would say hes highly suggestible, hes a shadow puppet doing and saying and acting in line with who ever is the most dominate in his life at that time (Shannon, his Mother, his mistress). I think getting rid of his wife and kids was ALL Nicole, she planted the seed, and was the puppet master. He was even texting her whilst being arrested. She totally manipulated him. One of the reasons I think NK was in on these crimes is because I've heard most of her interviews with the police and I've not heard her ever be upset when she's talking about Shanann or the children Chris murdered or the fact Chris - the man she "loves" - was a murderer and did something so disgusting. When someone you love does something so unimaginable, you get upset or display some degree of emotion, especially where innocent children are involved (maybe she felt nothing for his wife as she was his mistress?). To her, now, Chris was a murderer, he murdered his wife, his children, she was never going to see him ever again, their future was ruined, he could even face death yet there's no sadness/upset/emotion when she talks about any of it and only someone who acts like that, in my opinion, is someone who knew about this and/or was ok about it. I personally don't believe she was duped by Chris because I also don't hear any anger when she talks about any of it. Maybe I'm wrong but that's my take on it :)

The police should've investigated her more.

Interesting insight, thank you. As for "why this particular date in August" - Isn't it obvious? Shanann and the kids spent the summer in North Carolina, and Chris was living it up with NK. He knew this was gonna end. He would have been required to be super careful and resourceful to continue the affair once the family was back. Also the prospect of a new baby was not compatible with having more freedom in terms of time off and money. So he needed to get rid of them, and quickly.

@aplemat5 жыл бұрын
In my opinion I find it relevant to include the fact that NK is bipolar and this may explain the intensity that she was experiencing in the relationship and also explain CW urgency to respond to the calls. In my opinion, after all the docs. and videos I watched I really don’t understand when people says that CW felt pressured and lost control because that was Shanann who was going through unbearable pressure. She had a husband rejecting her pregnancy and he was being elusive in communication with her. She had the Watts family bullying her and she wasn’t alienated from the economic situation. The videos was her work and despite having an unstable job situation she managed to reach an equal salary than her husband and they bought the car through this work and CW received a compensation corresponding to a monthly fee for another car. He didn’t nothing but just show his weird face on and off and the videos did money for both. This is not a crime to be analyzed superficially. This guy not only killed his wife he killed his pregnant wife, he killed his two daughters! And the way he did it and the way he got rid of bodies it’s very disturbing. Many crimes you need to look deeply in the family history and this is one of these. The Watts family behavior is not normal and should definitely be considered in the CW psychological profile for a better understanding of the facts.

A very similar case happened in Italy in 2014: A man fell in love with his female co-worker, but she would refuse his advances saying she could never date a married man with children. So, one night he returned home from work, made love to his wife and strangled her to death immediately afterwards. She didn't fought back, she just attempted to ask him "why?". He then took a knife and went to his daughters bedroom, killing the both of them by slicing their throat. After this, he went to a friend's house to watch the national football team playing a match against England for the European Cup. He tried to make it look like a burglary gone wrong, but he was caught almost immediately, just like Chris Watts.

Chris knew a 3rd child would have been a deal breaker for NK . Not only had the girlfriend voiced her desires to have " firsts " with Chris and "give him a son " but then his lies would be revealed and his " nice guy " image destroyed. I don't think he snapped. I think he planned to kill his family, and had thought about it for a time. I think Shannans Nut incident with his parents may have been the turning point. Indicated by the note written at his parents asking the cops to investigate his unstable wife " should something happen to him or his children". Odd. His story about his tool box being broken into "with a flat head screwdriver " possibly an excuse to view the range of the neighbor's security camera. His plan to break protocol and be at a remote site alone Monday morning to address a leak he may very well have caused. He also was said to have tampered with the home security cameras . These are not acts of impulsivity. My thinking also was that it was always his intent to kill the children, as he made no provisions for their care, once their mother was gone. He never packed their school bags as Shannan had asked. He knew they would not be going to school. It was his plan I believe to kill them. Bring them to the site and blow up the evidence. Why did he load the gas can ? There had been a huge explosion at another leaking Anadarko well in recent months. It was plausible. But he chickened out. He was running late and probably thought an explosion would be too risky. So he left the broken rake as a marker in the hopes of going back in his wifes car that night to dispose of her body and the car. Then he could claim that his unstable wife ran off with their children and he could play the poor victim waiting at home for those kids to barrel rush him in his ghost town . His dead wife's friend spoiled his plan though, by sounding the alarm and calling the police immediately. Just my guess In all the tapes I hear of this man , I hear a sociopath that cannot access human feelings. So he adapted this nice guy, aw shucks , go along to get along persona to survive. He seemed very easy to program. Almost like an empty vessel , intent on pleasing his 'handler'. When Shannan left town for 5 weeks , NK surplanted her as Chris' handler. Its all in the tapes - he tells you - but he mixes the truth with the lies - in the pathetic hopes of clinging to his shattered nice guy persona. Now he's bible reading Chris who doesnt want his life defined by one act of rage. I see no real remorse for the suffering of his wife and children.
@PammyP5 жыл бұрын
I agree, you don't drive your kids for 45 minutes out to a remote area in a fit of uncontrolled rage, if he really just killed the wife in uncontrolled rage he would never have killed the kids. You might lie to them, but your not going to kill them. He needed for them all to be gone and he didn't want the financial obligations that went with them. I think he really enjoyed his care free life of 6 weeks and the idea of married life with financial obligations just didn't hold the appeal of a sexual infatuation and being a single guy. I still don't get how he possibly thought he was going to get away with it... it was such a dumb crime.

Carolyn Nigro What you say rings far more true than the idea he was manipulated into committing such a terrible crime against his own children. Loads of people have affairs and loads of men don't like providing for their kids when the relationship with their mother is over, they don't murder them though. This man had to be very sick and obviously it was premeditated. Someone can't manipulate someone into doing such a thing just because they have sex with them a lot and they aren't very experienced with woman. That would make every dorky man a potential murderer. The mistress may have been just as willing to have the wife and kids murdered, but he is responsible for his own actions.

Com’ on guys! She’s very attractive, you just don’t see it because you dislike her so much, show her picture to ANY GUY & they’d say she was pretty, with her long hair, green eyes, big boobs & nice ass, PLUS, she apparently was great in bed & less inhibited than most women. AND Chris Watts believed her to be pretty because he thought he was in love with her. That’s my opinion, anyway. Yu know, that old adage “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” ; Everyone thought Wallis Simpson was homely, too, but Edward the eighth could not live Without her, gave up a Kingdom just to be with her, in spite of the fact that she (allegedly) was dismissive & derisive & downright cruel to him. I’ve read where she actually disliked him, thought he was stupid, immature & obnoxious. She claimed that she only married him to because he threatened suicide if she didn’t. Now pls understand that I have no first hand information & my opinion is based on biographies about Simpson & Edward VIII. Also, I SUSPECT that Edward VIII really didn’t want to be king, he wanted all the perks & cash of being a King, but not any of the work or duties associated with it, & I believe he used Wallis as an excuse to get out of this situation. That’s just my opinion, but I’m American & have no inside track on this.

I’ll be honest when I first got into this case and just watched the interviews I thought that Kessinger was a “victim” too. It is easy to believe that Chris told her he was in latter stages of separation and that he was lying to her. But then I read the discovery. Kessinger was the instigator of this affair. She googled “Chris Watts” in August 2017, a month later in September 2017 she googled Shanann Watts. This was not a typo. It seems she was well aware of who Chris was before Chris ever knew about her. She later got a contract with Anadarko and actively pursued Chris. Shananns Facebook was public, the pregnancy reveal video is public. You can search and view this without having a Facebook account. She knew they were having another child. But she still pursued him. She was manipulating Chris throughout his time in North Carolina. She was telling Chris to “work on his marriage” but at the same time was sending him multiple nude photos of herself. She was also telling him that she was arranging dates on E-Harmony. This is classic manipulation. Chris in turn was “gaslighting” Shanann. Making her think she had done something wrong. Chris and Nichol were in an isolated bubble of lust and sex for 5 weeks when Shanann was out of town. He stayed at her house every night. She was searching for wedding dresses for 2 hours. This would be considered fast even for a regular, healthy relationship. Nichol deleted texts and told Chris to delete his too. I believe somewhere in these deleted texts there would be evidence of frustration and urgency from Nichol to end his marriage. Kessinger definitely isn’t a victim of Chris Watts. Chris Watts was a dangerous ticking time bomb, a man who was always capable of murder, and given Chris’ seemingly low emotional intelligence and inability to deal with confrontation and complex emotion, this Summer Of Lust was the beginning of the end for Shanann and the children.

Nichole erased almost everything that had to do with their relationship and it wasn't recovered. I feel she was being very manipulative and controlling and feel even if she had nothing to do with the physical murder (which I do because her cell phone pinged off a local tower that it only pinged off of 5 times total- and the last one being the morning of the murder), I still think she should be charged.

But in reality, it was the challenge more than who he was. That was the main motivation. She didn't even know herself that this was her own motivation, or a huge part of it. She enjoyed seeing him play up to her. She liked telling him what he should be doing. In the end, had things worked out for him, I doubt they would have stayed together for more than a year or so. He was silly to think he could fix all his problems in this way and not get caught. What was he thinking?

A VERY thorough and interesting opinion! I never thought of CW's insistence that he MUST have Nichol Kessinger, until you mentioned this. Totally makes sense. In my opinion, I never believed he was a narcissist, psychopath or sociopath, but did feel he wasn't adept at making decisions about his life, most likely because he was extremely passive and seemed to gravitate to controlling and strong women who made all decisions for him, even NK. He was also very very selfish, though his outward personality seems very "selfless". Can you perhaps expound on why he didn't feel divorce was an option? Could it be that he did plan to get divorced but before he could do this, he experienced incredible rage (which was buried deep in his head) and killed her by snapping? Why do you think he felt he had to kill his children, instead of turning himself in after he killed his wife? After a 45 minute ride, his blind rage would have subsided. I will never understand how a parent can kill their own children. I wish the officials who visited him in prison had asked him why and how he could live with himself. I think he felt a lot of pressure from Nicol to do something to get out of his marriage. She had told him she was on a dating site and had been dating other men while she was with him. She knew this would cause an urgency in him. She also had several meltdowns, according to CW, every time his wife called him. It seems like NK played a lot of head games to get what she wanted. I feel she was serious about this relationship and was quite envious of SW and her life, despite telling the police it wasn't serious because it was so new. I think he's very happy in jail. He gets told what to do and when to do it, so he doesn't have to make decisions. He doesn't have to deal with his debts. He probably can compartmentalize his thoughts and feelings, so he doesn't have to look at the absolute horror he committed against his wife and children.

I also don't feel the murder of his wife was premeditated.

@japaneseninja335 жыл бұрын
@A BC Your description of what may have happened during the ride sounds about right. If it did, what an absolutely drawn out horrifying time for the children. To me, this is even crueler than had he done away with them at the house. They had to sit there so scared and confused, watching their dad have a complete meltdown and act like a dad they had never seen before. At Bella's age, i'm sure she did not believe anything he said about their mom being sick and they needed to take her to the hospital, while she lay on the floor wrapped up.

I agree with most of what you said @japaneseninja33 however I disagree with him not being a narcissistic psychopath, it may not seem like it to you ,but covert narcissists tend to be quite unsuspecting,they come across as having empathy and overall “nice” people . This man feels nothing ,his family was an annoyance,an obstacle and needed to be eliminated. In order to do such a heinous act you have to have very high psychopathic traits ,especially considering he drove 45 minutes with his 2 children in the back seat before killing them . If that’s not calculated I don’t know what it is . If you followed the case you would know he called a realtor to start proceedings to sell the house. He unenrolled the children from their school the day before he killed them . Don’t be fooled by the seemingly peaceful and agreeable attitude he has . He’s cold as Ice . He cannot feel if not only on a superficial level .

What he doesn’t seem to realise is that if he had went about divorce like a normal guy then he would’ve gotten NK anyway, he just would’ve had to go through some emotional issues first that would’ve taken time and for whatever reason then he didn’t feel like they had enough time.
@wilhelmhagberg88543 жыл бұрын
I find Chris' relationship with his wife more interesting than his relationship with Nichol. Not blaming the victim here, but it seems that the wife was quit dominant in the relationship. Chris probably felt controlled / emasculated by her. Because of his vulnerable narcissism he didn't have the power to change the situation, yet he resented her and the way she made him feel. The Nichole relationship only served to make him more desperate. He thought he would lose Nicole because of his own weakness and inability to stand up to his wife.. By murdering wife he didn't have to ask her for a divorce (which he didn't dare doing). He also had "revenge" on her for the damage she had done to his ego.
